[New Feature] "What Broke?"

Archive: 15 posts

i think mm should make a feature that tells you/ shows you when something in your level breaks... I often find myself trying out my levels, hearing something break, but weverything being so complicated that i can't tell what broke. It would be really helpful if it hoghlighted what broke or something like that. What do you guys think?2010-12-20 20:53:00

what would be nice is if the object breaks an outline of it or some sort of ghost of it remains, and/or emits a wave across the levels like a steady drip into a pond 2010-12-20 22:14:00

Oh yes. Definitely yes.
I have had many a level made unfixable because of this happening.

How would the system know when something broke intentionally or unintentionally? What about explosions, dissolve, and crushed checkpoints in survivals? I too would LOVE the feature, but I don't think it would be possible unless you found a decent algorithm to define "broken".

How about a (hidden) log that keeps track of stuff that happens, including things disappearing? The entries could be 'clickable' and you would instantly be taken to that object. That of course poses the question: how can you be taken to an object t hat just disappeared?

If the log would act as a list of events in time that you can go back through and undo them, that would be awesome! Don't you often hate it that you have to keep tapping undo countless times to get back to the state before things went bonkers?

I think a history log like in photoshop would be better, that lists things like "deleted object" "Applied sticker" etc. that you can scroll through instead of repeatedly pressing undo, because I agree that it takes for EVER to wait for it to undo, and then press it again and again!2010-12-21 11:13:00

And LBP already keeps a log of all the things you do in the editor (that is how you are able to undo stuff), so come on MM! How hard can it be? /ignorant_layman_mode

Every 3 months someone suggests this, people are all "ZOMGDAVJSyou readin' ma mind dood!" :o
Then they realize its not happening, then the idea dies off, untill someone brings it up again 3 months later, and teh cicle re-starts...

Can't we just cut to the 'people realize its not happening' part and get this over with?
It ma dissapoint less people this time around if we end it early.

[LBP2] Speculation and Suggestions

"Speculate about the vast array of features rumored to be included and even suggest new features you feel should be added to the roster."

MediaMolecule members are very unlikely to turn up here and say OMAGOD! We've been working on this game for months but we never thought about such a feature! I'mma add it to the game NOA!

None of the features the members suggest here is likely to be included in the game in the end. So, dream on, we might as well discuss it and imagine what could be happening.

I think such a feature would be pretty useful. There could options to tick like In Pause Mode Only, Pistons Too, Rods too, etc...

--well thank you for bursting my bubble oddmania....

--i never said that MM was going to use this (as obviously they already made lbp2 so...).

--It would not be as hard as anyone might think, i mean, they make level themes(backgrounds like the jungle and the metropolis) 3-d and objects like pistons and motors, not to mention hudreds of them in one level, player tracking and upload/export tools, advanced costumes and things that... it's probably harder to program the physics of things ACTUALLY BREAKING than to program finding something that broke...
bottom line, it probably isnt that hard, so dont include things like " dream on", and "imagine what could be happening" in my thread please...
