Reviewers for LBP2. Who's with me?

Archive: 4 posts

LBP2 is on the horizon, which means an eventual flood of people showing off their never before seen content in the form of levels, songs, and fully formed games.

As one of the few left in the reviews (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?55-Reviews) section of the board, I am definitely going to take the challenge of reviewing other people's creations come release day.

What I want to know is this: who else is going to help go over people's creations? Who else is planning to help review content from LBP2?

I would love to do that but I would basically just say it's awesome because everything would blow my mind. Haha. It would be really cool though.2010-12-18 20:53:00

Lot of people via review function of the game?

I don't know about that. See, LBP 1 had something like that with the comments section of each level, but not a single person took advantage of that. It was always either "awesome level", "lol epix XD", or "hey you should come check out my level".
Most people that play LBP don't want to bother spending time on something like reviewing or giving meaningful critique. On the other hand, almost everybody that makes a level wants to know what other people think. In the end you get an endless loop of nothing getting done, and everybody is sad.

The benefits behind the review section of the board are many.
1) Open yourself to trying levels you probably would have never played in the first place, either because you didn't have a reason or more likely because you've never heard of it.
2) Give the level makers the satisfaction that you will definitely be playing their level, and even have something to say about it. It's always nice to know that people care about what you do and what you create.
3) Gives reviewers (and creators) a chance to explore aspects of level making they might not always be aware of. You being contemplating what makes a level good and what doesn't.
4) Profit? Actually, when people put up reviews of other people's levels, it actually counts as advertising, and in the case of LBP Central it happens to be free. When you ask people to put up a review of your level, it means that for every person that reads the review they are more likely to play it for themselves especially if the level happens to be good.
5) Keeping the community alive. There are plenty of ways to do this, reviews are but one of many.

All together, I'd say having reviewers on the site is a very important. At the end of the day, we are all just trying to enhance the community, right?
