Temperature!

You could maybe add temperature. to do this it could be a global thing or it could also be incorporated as a tool, say to make a certain room a certain temperature, And at a certain temperature materials melt! The melting point of materials could be altered using the material tweaker tool, this would be insane! And also the temperature at which sackboy dies at could be altered. So you, could have sackboy freezing to death, or melting! This could also incorporate into weather, but i beleive it would do better seperate, as the temperature of a room has nothing to do with the weather 'most' of the time, u know wat i mean tho, normally its dictated by the thickness of the walls and the heating and cooling appliance so temperature should be a tool where you can set an area to a certain temperature meaning you could have a freezer, or an immensly hot room, you could also make indestructible materials, not meltable, but if they are made destructible with the material tweaker tool they can melt. Also, temperature should have an affect on sackboy, so when sackboys expression is neutral, not happy, sad, etc and he is in a room with a low temperature he should begin to shiver and his breath should be visible as to say u can see fog coming out of his mouth. And when he is in a hot temperatue he could begin to sweat.

Possibilities are endless!

A lot of what you said can be done quite easily with the destroyers, clever lighting and other tools we have already in the beta, although i do agree that a native solution to this would be wicked. Also one thing i would like to see is some kind of heat shimmer like you get above a hot tarmac road - but i think this might be quite thermo intense, and probably cause some lagging online2010-12-16 10:48:00

Wouldn't that just be a 3D distortion effect rendering on the client console and needs no online synchronization?

hmm maybe i dont really know about this sort of stuff really - i just meant that people like me who dont have the strongest interwebz connection sometimes lag in reel waterz :O its sad but true and happens to me quite regularly, so i thought some kind of visual distortion would do the same thing. maybe not i dont know

also now ive been thinking about it - i believe that people who went to the community game jam reported "filter materials" whereas you would place a filter material in front thin layer and it mad things pixellated or sepia tone etc. but i havent seen anything lke this in the beta, or in any videos of the story levels so...

no, when i lag in water occasionally, it is like i jump in and for a second have the same lag as online lag, but it goes away after a minute. i was just speculating around someting im clueless about ... 2010-12-16 20:23:00
