Preorder Confusion.
Archive: 7 posts
Hey Guys. Sorry to bother but i have kind of a stupid question to ask. You see, I've been asking for money for Christmas so that I can finish getting any missed DLC and most importantly so I could preorder LBP2 after christmas. Since this is my first preorder, I was wondering how does it exactly work. Will it be at store on January 18 and will they have a reserved copy for me? Where should I preoder it from (if I could preoder it from walmart, I could pick it up right after school). Also does anyone know if they're making another guide. If so, when should it come out? | 2010-12-16 04:18:00 Author: TREMIC1 Posts: 263 |
well where are you from? | 2010-12-16 07:59:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
well where are you from? Probably the US (Canada?), considering Walmart, although I understand there's a Walmart in Germany as well. In any case, if the store you chose still has pre-orders left for you to reserve, the moment you make that reservation the game will be held for you. It should be available on the day of release but that depends on the shipment coming in on time. Generally that works out just fine, though. The shops really want you to come pick it up as soon as possible; I've heard gameshops like GameStop will usually hold your game for a day before they consider it a lost cause and sell it to somebody else, but don't let that scare you. It's only hear-say and I have no experience with that sort of thing since I'm from a country where we don't have GameStop, so... As to where you should pre-order from... only you can decide. There are other topics around these forums that specify which store offers which pre-order bonus. Check those out and see which bonus you like best, if you're even in it for the bonuses. The guide? Wouldn't know anything about that, but it should be available from anywhere between two weeks before release and two week after release. | 2010-12-16 08:47:00 Author: Melfice Posts: 269 |
I've heard gameshops like GameStop will usually hold your game for a day before they consider it a lost cause and sell it to somebody else That's true. If you put the minimum or any fraction of the full price down as a deposit, you get a one day hold on a copy of the game before they add it back into sellable inventory. If you put the full price down, then it's considered sold and they'll hold it for you until you pick it up, even if it's a few days. As for where to pre-order, I believe the available options in the US are Gamestop (which includes EB, etc, if they haven't renamed them all already), Best Buy, and Amazon (I believe Amazon ships it out on the release date, which means you'll get it a day or two later). Each has a different bonus for pre-ordering with them, so you might want to look into that. If you can find somewhere that still sells pre-orders of the Collector's Edition (I heard Gamestop has already stopped taking pre-orders for the CE), then the pre-order goodies won't matter, 'cuz they're all included in the CE. Wal-Mart has done pre-orders in the past, mainly on the big blockbuster titles, but I have to say that I'm not terribly impressed with how they handle them: they're not always very good at getting the game in on time (it varies from store to store, but some won't receive it until 2-3 days after the release date), and there's a very good chance their employees will be clueless when you go to pick it up... and forget trying to pick it up at midnight the day it goes on sale. If you're not concerned with pre-order goodies or anything, just go to Wal-Mart on the day it releases and buy it. It'll be there whether you pre-order it or not (if it's a Wal-Mart that actually gets games on time) and they may even have the CE even if all the other places have sold them all as pre-orders. | 2010-12-16 10:36:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

Yeah when I ordered the CE it gave me an opion to get it the same day it was released. I'm guessing it will probably come around 4pm or so where I live. | 2010-12-16 15:55:00 Author: QuAcKeRz12 Posts: 176 |
