Positionable gravitational Center in a lvl!

Archive: 11 posts

The gravitational center of mass should be able to be moved! As to say instead of having gravity pulling you downward you could have it pushing or pulling you sideways, pulling you to the top (anti gravity i guess) or you could aven have a center of gravity in the middle of the level so your always being pulled to the center!2010-12-16 00:26:00

This would be awesome. I think they have a global gravity switch, but It should be modified so you can change the orgin of gravity to ANY direction. Then you could make levels where your walking on ceelings and walls. You could also create a "Star Wars Force" effect wit this. Good Idea!2010-12-16 04:24:00

Or just rotate the camera.2010-12-16 20:35:00

Or just rotate the camera.

That wouldn't give you the same effect as central gravity, though. I think central gravity would be great -- or even better, multiple gravity points! You could make a galaxy game, slinging yourself from one world's gravity to the next until you reach the end. Although, that would be horribly glitchy if you took a whole bunch and put them together. So nevermind.

Or just rotate the camera. Ahhhhh... Dude? If you rotated the camera sideways making the ground the walls, you'd kinda have sackboy on his side, i guess you could fix that up, but if you wanted a center of gravity, so you constantly wanted objects moving to a point, you could'nt do it by rotating the camera. And i'v been thinking what if you made a center of gravity object? As to say you could tweak the radius in which objects are affected by the gravitational pull of it, that way you wouldn't have several points of gravitational origin pulling you different ways at once, but as soon as you enetered that radius you begin to be pulled, that way you could very easily make a gravity level where sackboy flies from planet to planet using the gravitational pull of the planets as a slingshot, like apollo 9 did using the gr4avitational pull of the moon.2010-12-16 21:47:00

This is actually very much possible. I've played couple of levels (on the beta) where...

a) you could run on walls.
b) move and jump from a planet to another.

This is done by using followers and rotators that will push the sackbot downwards (relative to its rotation and position) and force it to stay on the surface of a planet (or a wall in some ninja level cases). This is slightly glitchy as the sackbots (or normal sackpersons) don't have a running / walking animation when up-side down. But it's possible to do this nevertheless.

like apollo 9 did using the gr4avitational pull of the moon.

And like Super Mario does in Mario Galaxy. Same thing

I though it was possible...
darn I wanted to make a moon and we would see the sackperson walking all around it.. I guess that's not possible.

I think it's possible, with sackbot as player actor at least

It is indeed possible. Proof:

Super Mario Galaxy: SACKBOT STYLE!

But anyway:

This is done by using followers and rotators that will push the sackbot downwards

While doing this for a sackbot is nice, it would be cooler if it worked for a sackboy
