A material that works exactly like a text box on microsoft word! You could choose the font size and everything that you can normally change on a text box. You could also choose if the box is transparent or not. But it is a material still. This would be awsemome and it would make life so much easier when making text, you could even incorporate a 'wrap-around' feature that means once you have finished the box wraps-around the text and all you are left with is each individual letter, not meaning the box just isn't around the letters anymore or that its invisible but i mean each letter becomes its own seperate shape meaning you can now change the material of each letter, since there not just stuck on a text box anylonger, they are actually a shape, with its own thickness and it behaves in the exact same way a material works. Could you imagine just beinga ble to type what words you want and then being able to use the letters you've created in animation type ways, what i mean is, is that you could attach a mover to each letter once it has been 'wrapped around' and you could have the letters come onto the screen in extravegent ways like you can on microsoft powerpoint! think of all the possibilities!

thermo exploding?? it wouldnt affect thermo more than making letters out of holo or any other material does. in this video (http://uk.gamespot.com/shows/now-playing/?event=now_playing_littlebigplanet_220101206&tag=topslot;img;1) we see some text which has brought up quite alot of speculation about whether we will see a text object, or whether the Mm creator who made the intro level just made some letters is this the kind of thing you were talking about?

Polygonal text would be much more demanding than 2D vector text, depending on how "smooth" they want the letters to look.
