"Downloadable Content

Hello all,

With the release of the Christmas downloadable content, we have reached the end of our planned schedule of downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet PSP. Over the past year we've been constantly amazed, amused and impressed with the creations and general ingenuity you guys have demonstrated through the game.

We hope you've had as much fun playing and creating with the past year's worth of releases as we have had in coming up with them and designing them. We'll continue to be involved in the LittleBigPlanet community (Featured Levels, Featured Players, competitions and general question answering will continue as usual), so this certainly isn't the end of the road, but there comes a point when we've got to let the developers move onto new things. "

As I'm sure most of you are aware this is a message we got last week from Ace Creator. Now while many of you are sad or disappointed over this I think I'm excited.

Do you wanna know why?

http://psp.ign.com/articles/113/1139781p1.html

That article basically says there have been many many rumors spreading around (which gosh darn there have been) about the PSP2. And it clumps together what the various sources have said about the PSP2.
Which from my understanding boasts a slightly larger screen than the pspgo, two analogue sticks (FINALLY!!!) , and graphical capabilities so ridiculous that the graphics could be as good as some of the earlier PS3 games.

IGN seems to think (which makes sense) that with announcement of the PSP2 they would also announce new games for the system of some of their biggest franchises. The examples they use were Killzone and... LittleBigPlanet.

Now since nothing is yet announced, we cannot be sure of anything. But maybe, just maybe! The new thing these developers are moving onto... could be a LBP PSP 2.

Now with the new graphics the game could look as good as the PS3 one, which means we could have aditional features like... say maybe lighting, or the the ability to you know, sticker walls. hah.

And with duel analogue stickers we could finally have something like the paintanator or maybe something else unique to a PSP version of LBP.

What do you guys think, do you think they might be moving on to a new LBP for PSP2, or do you think they're just going their seperate ways, or what?

(Mods feel free to move this if it's in the wrong section.)

Edit: Before you guys post about how LBP2 is not possible on PSP2 read the post with more attention and realise that I am talking about a LBP PSP2 not the LBP2 for PS3.

Also...
The PSP2 will supposedly have a track pad on the back of the system that registers things like tapping, and swiping and stuff. Wouldn't that be interesting to throw into an LBP game?

Having two sticks gives you a way to swing your sackboys arms YAY! think of the fun multiplayer!
I hope they add new stuff, like sackbots (got to keep sackbots) and all sorts of new "PSP only" gadgets Like an emitter on sackboys hand that lets him through whatever he want wants.

I hope (if they do make lbp psp2) it will be as good as everyone wants it to be.

LBP2 on PSP2 is impossible. It only has half the PS3's processing power and is not enough for PS3 quality gameplay or graphics.2010-12-14 20:04:00

Ah ha, but what about LBP PSP 2?! We don't have sequels to the PS3 game, but that doesn't mean we can't have one for our own.

It won't have so many fancy things, or even microchips and that. But awesomeness is guaranteed.

Finally, someone whose head is on right, thank you Dizzy!

Everyone wants sackbots while I think a sequel for the PSP would end up like LBP1 on PS3 (i.e. lighting, water, adjustable switch radius)

Same here! I would rather them implement lighting, water, and multiplayer(), than microchips, better cut-seens and sackbots.

Mainly multiplayer with online create.

And a customizable My Pod!
Instead of making a huge story about all of the awesome things we could get, here is a list.

Lighting
Multiplayer
Water
Customizable My Pod
Linking levels(that is in the ps3 version right?)
Stickering sackboy
Stickering the side of materials
Stickering objects
Taking pictures using the built-in cameras for stickers
Taking in-game pictures for stickers
Decorations
Checkpoints with a number of lives
Resizing tools, objects, etc.
Bombs actually damaging curtain materials
CROWNS! (because of multiplayer)
And some other things that I don't know of since I don't have a PS3 or LBP PS3.

The PSP 2 is expected to be significantly more powerful than the original with processors capable of delivering PlayStation 3-quality graphics.

The most drastic change to the device is the addition of a rear-mounted touchpanel, which will be used for tap, swipe, and other gesture controls.

It is also expected to feature dual analog thumbpads, which is sure to please fans, who have been demanding the addition of a second thumbpad for years.

Ahhh I gotta get one!! Imagine LBP PSP with Ps3 graphics and a faster processer!!! The red screen of death would cease to exist!!

While we've been told that every major developer is creating games for the PSP 2, no specific titles have been mentioned. It seems fairly likely, however, that Sony is preparing PSP 2 versions of their biggest 2011 franchises, such as Killzone and LittleBigPlanet.

That's why they canceled DLC!! Everything is starting to make sense...

If you guys actually read my post I said LBP PSP 2 not LBP 2 on PSP.

And I did not mention once anything about sackbots or any of the other things in LBP2 I mentioned lighting, and stickering on the side of objects. As examples.

I was also thinking LBP PSP 2 would be more like LBP1 then 2. Cory's list was pretty much spot on, though honestly I couldn't care less about multiplayer, I mean, it'd be amusing, but I'd much prefer the other things on the list over multiplayer. (Though a way to easily share levels would be nicer.)

And Cory, linked levels aren't really in LBP1, at least not the version I think you're thinking of. You cannot switch from one level to a next without first beating one and the going to the other from outside of game play.

What you can do how ever is lock a level so people cannot play it until they find a key for that specific level that you can hide in one of your other levels. Which would make sharing levels easier.

If water is implemented... well let's just say I don't care for how water was given to us in the PS3 game. It's not as useful as it could be.

Something not listed by anyone that would be good to have: BETTER COLLISION DETECTION!

Ah alright, well yes that'd be nice to have.

By linked levels I thought you meant the new feature in LBP2 where you get transferred from one level to another one instantly as if it were just one level. (well there's probably loading in between I dunno because I'm not in da beta)

It all makes sense now, Cambrigde stop focusing on DLC to work on either LBP PSP 2 or some other game, but if LBP 2 does come out on the PSP l will buy it on it's first day.2010-12-14 22:07:00

LBP2 won't be coming out on PSP2. But a LBP PSP2 is a possibility.

On a different note, do you think any new game play mechanics could come from the back track pad? Anyone?

Yeah but the article clearly says it's most likely they're working on their biggest franchise: LBP for PSP2. After we read that, cory just let his imagination take over and stated awesome ideas

No, LBP2 is set for a release on the PS3 this January, and I doubt the PSP2 could handle all the new tweaks they made to that game, though I could be wrong. And so LBP PSP2 would gravitate more to the scale of the orignal LBP instead of LBP2 most likely, but would still be considered LBP PSP 2.

Understand?

Oh my gosh guys listen to what I'm saying.
I'm not saying they'd just slap LBP1 onto the PSP2, I'm saying that with the limited technical powers (even the improved ones of a new hand held system) that the new game would most likely RESEMBLE LBP1 more so than LBP2 feature wise. I never said anywhere that they're just going to port the game over.

Are you sure? Portable consoles are generally cheaper. However if its is as close to the PS3's power as is rumoured, then fitting it into a smaller package may up the price...

Maybe I will start saving, just in case.

THe PSP2 will have Half of the PS3's processing power and is not even close to...well...close.

What you may have forgotten is that the screen for the PSP2 is going to be very small and will not output 1080p so it won't need that other half of processing power. The PSP2 would be capable of running a high resolution LBP game with half the PS3 processing power. The PS3 has a 3.2 GHz processor and the PSP has a 333 MHz processor. Based on rumored specs the PSP2 will have roughly half of the current PS3 processing power, about 1.6 GHz or roughly 5 times the power or the current PSP. That is going to be exceptionally powerful. I have a 46" 1080p TV that I hook my PSP to ( component AV cable) and it looks fantastic in its current state, imagine how much better it could be.

They are speculating as to why they are done making DLC. An article was posted talking about the unconfirmed PSP2 and the assumption that Sony will probably focus on getting good first-party titles along the lines of Killzone and LittleBigPlanet. From there the focus jumped to whether or not the PSP2 will be capable of console graphics or if it will adequately recreate the style/graphics/general awesomeness of LBP PS3.2010-12-17 21:31:00

Hmm, I never thought of his post this way. Great job sackbot. Making an LBP PSP2 or at least and updated LBP PSP on the PSP 2 would definitely have less crahses and red screen of deaths, becasue my theory is that they happen because the PSP doesn't wuite has the processing power to totally handle a game like LBP. However, the PSP2 would almost positively have much better processing and overall LBP could work a lot better.2010-12-18 05:50:00

Personally I think that LBP PSP 2 shouldn't be too similar to LBP1. Neither should it be too similar to LBP2. What about something completely different? There's no point in just porting the LBP1 stuff. How are you supposed to market that? "It's a stripped down version of a outdated 2008 game"
(I'm not hating on LBP PS3 but since LBP2 is out it is definitely outdated).
They don't want just to sell it to people who only have PSP's. I bought my PSP because I love LBP on the PS3 so much. I wouldn't bother buying a PSP 2+ LBP PSP2 if it was just LBP1. Maybe they should use the extra power to make something original. Suppose if there was some awesome tools, Power ups ect. If it was good enough it could persuade a load of LBP ps3 fans to purchase it. Even people who didn't get it on PS3 could be persuaded to get it if they had tools that would appeal to the masses. I have no idea what they could put in it but if it only have multiplayer and lighting I would be very disappointed.
