Banjo Tooie - The Project
Archive: 37 posts
Alright... Since the "Good Ol' Days" thread, I've been playing Rare's Banjo Tooie for Nintendo64. Great, great game You may see where I'm going with that now... I can't recall who but someone in the beta already made two songs from the game. Which is cool, because i was thinking of asking him some requests for the other songs (all the songs in BT have the same notes, they're just longer or faster, which makes new songs... ) Anyway, so my idea is to remake some parts of the game's worlds. Cauldron Keep is the game's final level. The player confronts Klungo in the entrance hall for the final time. Some worlds would have minigames linked to them too. My main concern though is the number of creators implied in this project. I don't really have any limit and I know not everybody have played this (amazing) game. And it doesn't matter if you didn't, I'll probably take you in my "team" anyway . But let's just say it's a really big plus for keeping the game's mood and humor throughout the levels. So, if you like the idea or would like to participate*, just comment and I'll consider your request. Let's honor this great series** by recreating it in another great game that is LBP... ----- List of Creators - chuck_18mp (Me) - AeroForce22 - JamesDNaux - RottenAvocado List of Testers - daddy_doodle - Kaboom ______________ * People who choose to participate in this project must be active and easily reachable by private messages or PSN. But mostly, we're here to have fun creating! ** Until Microsoft showed up... >_> | 2010-12-13 06:46:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
Man I used to love this game. Can't really remember much of it though. I would join you, but I don't have much patience when it comes to creating levels. Any way I hope people join in becuase I would like to see something like this. It would be nice to break away from random cpmmunity levels and start playing full games that people have made once in a while. Good luck. | 2010-12-13 07:27:00 Author: Kitkasumass Posts: 494 |
Me thinks I'll help. I was planning on doing this exact thing once the full game comes out. I tried getting my friend to make the Mad Monster Mansion theme, but he only got the start of it... Tooie would be good though. If you need any help, I'm an expert, I know EVERYTHING about Banjo. | 2010-12-13 16:31:00 Author: JamesDNaux Posts: 757 |

Hi there. xD I gotta admit, I didn't expect to see another Banjo-Kazooie lover on LBPC. My original thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=29505-Banjo-Kazooie&highlight=Banjo-Kazooie) wasn't received too well it seems. Hopefully you and I can work on this together? I've got another member who would be willing to join the group, The_Lil_JoKer if you know him. I've had a group set up for a bit and it's right here (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/group.php?groupid=670). It's for the recreation of both BK and BT, as well as any Donkey Kong games we feel like making. xD I've also made some Banjo-Kazooie tracks in the beta. ^o^ My first one made was Jolly Roger's Lagoon's Atlantis theme (simply for the fact that most instruments in the song were available) and Jinjo Village. My most recent one is the "Twinklies Journey" from Freezeezy Peaks, but I haven't published that yet and I'm working on Spiral Mountain right now (it's a pain with how complicated it is and the lack of a Banjo). Anyway, in case you can't tell, I'm a die-hard Banjo fan and would like to collaborate with you on a recreation of both games if possible! PM me if you'd like. (Also, I'm guessing I'm the one who made the two Tooie songs in the beta considering I haven't seen any other Banjo songs in it yet. :3) | 2010-12-13 17:27:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |

It would be nice to break away from random cpmmunity levels and start playing full games that people have made once in a while. Good luck. Just to see another BK fan is already a cool thing. And you could still be a tester if you want. I'm pretty sure we'll need some of those. Yea I was mainly aiming at the sequel (Banjo-Tooie) because it's the one I'm currently playing so it's fresh in my mind om gosh!!!! one of my fave games ever!! i'd love to help. Well, send me by Private Message your PSN or the name of your levels and I'll check them out. It's just that I want people to be committed to this project and not letting it go after 2 months, you get me? But from I've seen so far from you, I probably won't be disappointed. Ooh! Banjo Tooie is one of my all-time favourite games! Count me in! As I said to the others, just send me your PSN and the name of your best level by PM and we'll see from there Hi there. xD I gotta admit, I didn't expect to see another Banjo-Kazooie lover on LBPC. You made the Atlantis song (my personal favorite). Hehe. And of course I want you in this project, the songs are what makes this game this game And form what I've "heard" you got them pretty accurately. So, consider yourself in, mister. | 2010-12-13 18:02:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
This project looks really awesome and I wish you guys luck on it, I don't think I'll be able to join for many reasons including lack of creating skills, not playing the game and already being involved in a number of projects but once I get the blog back in place, I'll definitely be mentioning this project | 2010-12-13 18:50:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |

Ah, memories I loved that game. I wasted so many hours into it when I was younger. I'd be willing to help, I'll send you a psn invite. LBP2 could really be a good medium for Banjo. I could see using the control seat to 'transform' into different creatures to solve various puzzles within the worlds. By the way, when were you planning on starting this? Will you wait till LBP2 or start ahead? | 2010-12-13 20:19:00 Author: RottenAvocado Posts: 319 |

Will you wait till LBP2 or start ahead? I'll probably try some stuff in the beta to try to make some things work, like Banjo-Kazooie character switch (a bit like in NuclearFish's Harry Potter level.) But mainly it's all gonna start when LBP2 will be out. Everybody will be starting at the same point. btw, I'll be starting a new group discussion. So we can talk about how the game mechanics will work and tasks distribution. | 2010-12-13 20:46:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
Yea I was mainly aiming at the sequel (Banjo-Tooie) because it's the one I'm currently playing so it's fresh in my mind Well I have info on both fresh in my head 24/7. Banjo is my favorite series ever, only tied with another series... But either way, I'll join this little project. Any info you need, I have. And I'm also a pretty good creator, and know all the songs by heart. I cant make the songs though, heh. | 2010-12-13 21:53:00 Author: JamesDNaux Posts: 757 |
looks like you've planned it out...sorta.. I wish I could help but I've never played it so I fear I couldn't capture the mood Good Luck! | 2010-12-13 23:07:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
Wait a minute LBD, I think you could still help. We will surely need a smarty one in the group. Helping with logic and whatnot.. | 2010-12-13 23:46:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
So just gonna mention this: I have the sheets for about every song in the game (variations of each tune included); the ones that I do not have sheets for I will attempt to transcribe myself because I'd just like to have the sheets for them. xD So music isn't an issue, I've got it! Also, I've played the original games many many many times when I was younger. Despite never beating the game when I was younger, the game stuck with me as one that I'd never forget and would love forever simply for the witty humor, the great music, and the awesome gameplay (I'm not sure what to call this platforming, but it's my favorite. xD). I pre-ordered Nuts & Bolts after hearing that there was a Banjo-Kazooie XBLA game that you got free for pre-ordering. Naturally, I tricked the gamestop guy into giving me the code early (xD but it didn't work right away). Played through that and 100%-ed it. Then obviously Banjo-Tooie was remade and I 100%-ed that as well. Now this wasn't necessarily recently, but I'm not one to forget specific things of my favorite game series. I've played through each XBLA game twice by the way. I also have the Nintendo Power guide to Banjo-Tooie, and the Prima guide to Banjo-Kazooie (albeit, the Prima guide is awful. It still has a map though). Just felt like letting you know. xD | 2010-12-14 00:02:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
I watched the Banjo games on youtube and they looked epic. If this is for the full game I will be a tester , if it's for the beta I hope somebody posts a video when it's done | 2010-12-14 00:25:00 Author: daddy_doodle Posts: 199 |

But thanks for the visit and I'll add you to the testers' list. Aero, you will be doing the music (yes! ) And umm, if you could somehow scan or take a pic of the map you'Re talking about, it'd be useful. | 2010-12-14 00:52:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
I really like your idea, Chuck! I would like to be a tester ^^ Can't help you with the creating, i'm too busy with my 2 level series! | 2010-12-14 00:59:00 Author: Kaboom Posts: 172 |
I'm a composer by nature and Grant Kirkhope is probably my favorite in terms of video games. I would absolutely love to reproduce the songs with as faithful of reproduction as possible. I have been playing the piano since first grade and as a result I have a vast knowledge of music theory and conventions. I could also help with level design. I've worked on some game reproductions in LBP1 and even though I stopped after hearing about the sequel's superior editing capability I got pretty far and did fairly well. Tell me what you think. And if you need random specifics, I've had both games on n64 since the original in 98' and I beat them 100% back in the day... you know, the days where there was no internet and you spent hours in front of the TV trying to find that last Jiggy... we called it "dedication". Then I went ahead and 100%ed the XBLA games and N&B as well. | 2010-12-15 01:21:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hi Chuck. As you know, i'm creating the core gameplay stuff and some of the graphics ^^. Thanks for letting me participate in this project | 2010-12-15 07:45:00 Author: robbit10 Posts: 450 |

As you know, i'm creating the core gameplay stuff and some of the graphics ^^. Thanks for letting me participate in this project Lol, no problem. It'll be good to all meet and chat together. | 2010-12-16 01:07:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
Sounds good, either way I say that we should create a test level to create an engine for the characters and get all of the interactions down pat. Also, any word on whether or not you can cooperatively edit at the same time over PSN in LBP2? | 2010-12-16 02:25:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just a heads-up: I'm going on a one-week vacation on Friday, so i'll be back sometime after next week. I might still be available to build with you today, though. | 2010-12-16 06:29:00 Author: robbit10 Posts: 450 |

Err... Can I help? | 2010-12-31 10:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
This is an excellent idea Chuck! I used to play this game, but I never found time to finish it... Nuts & Bolts is said to be good but really different from the two previous N64 games, so I didn't buy it or ever get to play it... Ever played Conker's Bad Fur Day by Rare? (or maybe its remake on Xbox?) I've played the N64 original version and this game is just... Fantastic, with a lot of humor and great ideas. A real breath of fresh air, maybe you'll get to make a level based on it too one day! Or perhaps I'll take care of it... | 2010-12-31 11:21:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |

Whats the status of this project? i loved banjo-tooie | 2011-01-27 06:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
:O This is so awesome! I'd love to help out if possible. I'm not the best maker, but I could test it if you like. I could help make some sackbots, but, I'm not sure. Just imagine the two of my favo(u)rite games combined XD | 2011-02-06 21:10:00 Author: orang0 Posts: 5 |
This is a wonderful idea. Not sure if someone has said it yet but someone should make isle'o'hags and put level links that led to other players levels. So as apposed to making just little tibbits of the game, lets go one step further and make the whole game! In terms of level design, i kinda suck at that, however i can make the smaller baddies for you guys. Give me the creattures names and ill give you the creature itself. On a side note is anyone making any levels from the first Banjo Kazooie? | 2011-02-07 04:39:00 Author: Indignentshrew Posts: 1 |
We already have people assigned to Baddies and contraptions, sorry What we'd need is people who could make landscape and stuff. The project is going pretty slow atm, as we have encountered some issues. But it'll see the day, some day | 2011-03-06 21:48:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
Yes. I would love to help. I played Bk and BT on the 64 when I was a wee lad, and got both of them on Xbox Arcade. I've 100% BK and I'm in the process of beating BT again, Grunty Industries always gets me. I made two lackluster levels in LPB1 and haven't made anything yet in LBP2, except the beginning of a boss. I do music and am musical but don't have the patience to make my own using the piano roll in LBP2. But I could do a song or two, just find the sheet music and plug it in to LPB. I'm really open to anything you have to offer me, I would seriously be very happy if I could contribute to this. PSN: SouperSteve0 | 2011-03-07 01:37:00 Author: SouperSteve0 Posts: 7 |
Well SouperSteve, we already have found people to make the music but if you're willing to do just about anything, I'll check your levels out and we'll see after that It's always nice to see other Banjo Kazooie /Tooie fans out there | 2011-03-10 21:05:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
Cool, though my LBP1 levels BLOW. I might put out something short to prove myself but I don't get too much free time this part of the year. | 2011-03-10 22:51:00 Author: SouperSteve0 Posts: 7 |
I played that game all the time. its better than all banjo n' kazooie games. I might be able to help a bit, Im good at making maps and i know a bit of logic. | 2011-03-11 00:29:00 Author: Cactii Posts: 426 |
