"All They Did Was Add More Fun" Kotaku LBP2 Impressions

Archive: 16 posts

So, LBP2 is done (for the most part) and bloggers now have preview copies in their hands.

See what Kotaku's Stephen Totilo has to say along with a brand new gameplay video HERE (http://kotaku.com/5709649/all-they-did-was-add-more-fun).

Totilo restates a lot we already know, but puts a huge impact on how the level design has vastly improved and I'd have to agree from seeing the few videos of the final copy of LBP2. He says he's played through the first few worlds and he's still somewhat optimistic.

As a complete fresher to LBP2, i'd say his impressions are quite favourable, if not a little misguided.

Like, he doesn't know that the creatanator can do more than just shoot cake, but that's all he's seen it do. (I can't wait for that revelation to blow his mind )

Gosh darn mario/floaty jump comments.
Darn them all to heck!
Why arn't they open to something a little different? Geez.

Plus writers don't do any research anymore? Ugh.

much like video game forum regulars, the game media understands LBP about as much as they understand having a consistent rationale

about what i expect

To anyone complaining about the floaty jumps, it's Sackboy, he is made of fabric and fluff, he is bound to be light and floaty! He isn't Mario, a some-what heavy human being, he's a delicate, really small (I believe he is 8 centimeters) boy made out of sack! And anyway, LBP is made of imagination, maybe someone imagined his jumps to be floaty! That's what I wanna tell all those complainers..... Too bad I don't know how to comment!2010-12-09 23:37:00

You can make the gravity stronger and sackboy will have sharper jumping. But the only problem is the corner jumping thingy (you know when you jump from a corner sackboy jumps higher then normal?) It screws it up. When you jump from a corner it throws you up a great distance higher then normal. They should disable the corner jumping thingy, when you put the gravity up.

He didn't mention a thing about create, I hope he doesn't think we're all buying this for the story levels and a cake gun 2010-12-10 08:28:00

Yeah games journalism can be quite bad at times. On Kotaku you'll frequently see comments pointing out mistakes tagged #corrections.

Might not have been in the sample they were given. I read somewhere that it's just 12 levels.

You make it sound like corner jumping was an intended feature

Standard gamers?

What are you collectively calling all of us then? (choose your words carefully )

I would wager he is talking about the majority of "experienced gamers" who don't play LBP.
Which is the majority, who find safety in sequels and are afraid to engage with G rated material.

If they're Standard we're the Collectors Edition.
