sackboys prehistoric moves is available to ps plus and lbp fans

Anyone else been getting this in their mail? I got my hopes up because I thought it was a Beta voucher except they sent it with the wrong title... oh well.

Yes, I just received the email too, its called lbp sackboys prehistorit move and there have been videos on youtube for months.
The download is about 1gb.

I got two of these actually (one for each account), if someone wants a code, send me a PM. The fact that both accounts recieved a code makes it seem like some sneaky Sony marketing to me. They give out a bunch of free codes... but you need to buy the Move to play it. Plus "Prehistoric Moves" is supposed to ship with LBP2 IIRC, possibly hooking more people into the franchise, with no real additional cost to Sony.

According to LittleBigPlanet.com, you'll need PS Move and a second player to help you through levels. Unless you fall in toxic waste and suddenly grow a few arms, the experience will be all for not.

I haven't been able to get the game to work on its own. When I start the game, it tells me to insert a PS Eye, I tried using an Eyetoy but it didn't do anything. My guess is you'll need to have the hardware in order to play this, even before we get to the chance of online play.2010-12-08 04:27:00

There is no online. It is an offline game only. So you HAVE to have the move. I remember reading this on the PS blog when they first announced it.		2010-12-08 04:49:00

Codes only work once anyways, so it wouldn't matter unless he hadn't already downloaded the free demo. But seeing as he craftily edited the code... meh.

As for playing the game and what is requred... you people really should look around this forum more. There's a whole thread on the topic in the News and Media section. lol

Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves
This is a brand new spin-off PSN title that showcases all of the fun that can be had when Sackboy gets his hands on the PlayStation Move motion controller. Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves contains a brand new 10 level theme dominated by dinosaurs, where the Evil Big Rex is king. Throughout your mission you must take on challenges engineered by Terrance Dactyl, and you're going to some need help, so put on your bear skins and grab up to four friends to navigate the tough terrain of the tropical jungle dodging erupting volcanoes and other environmental hazards standing in your way. The player with the PlayStation Move controller leads the charge, flicking switches and triggering platforms to help the other players, using DualShock Controllers, through each level. Leap between Dino heads, use the Move controller to blast aside crates of bubbles, ride dinosaurs through prehistoric cities, and take to the heights of tree canopies, then team up to defeat Big Rex, all while collecting Trophies along the way. Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves is completely standalone - it doesn't require the original LittleBigPlanet game or LittleBigPlanet 2 to run. What you will need is one PlayStation Move controller (and the PlayStation Eye camera, of course) and at least one friend with a DualShock Controller - since it is a Move-required and multiplayer-only co-op experience. The game will also be included on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc when it is released on January 18.

Looking forward to hearing your review! I have a feeling that I "may" get the Move this year if Santa decides I haven't been naughty enough to pass over... so I'm certainly interested to see if it's a decent little off-shoot of the franchise.

Also, if you could tell us once you've played a bit... will the costumes from this game transfer over to LBP? Perhaps when you're done and your wrists are sore, you could load up LBP quickly for us and see if the content is cross compatible?

well im not sure what fourm it should be in is why i said that. the game runs on the lbp1 engine not the seconds but its bundled in the lbp2 disc. so im not sure where i should put it.

edit: i can answer some questions about the game for anyone who isn't a ps plus subscriber or got an email. but if i don't answer any its because my computers broken again. i just got a bsod trying to edit this while listening to music on youtube. so keep this in mind.		2010-12-08 05:45:00

The original thread discussing the upcoming release was in this section... that's why I'd also assume this should be in here rather than "Everything Else LBP2" as the other one is. This seems like actual "news" to me... but the mods might see it differently (I'm not sure what their criteria is to decide these things). Though you make a good point as to what engine it runs on.

You could PM a mod and ask them to merge the two threads... they do that sort of thing all the time to keep the forum tidy.

This reminds me of way back when I turned 18 and Gilette sent me a free Mach II razor. Of course it was a marketing thing to get me to buy the blades for it. It worked.... well, maybe-- I was planning on getting one anyway. Sony is giving out a "free" game to get us to shell out $100 for a new controller. Downloaded the game last night from PS+ and played with the family till midnight. My wife enjoyed using the move controller because it did not leave her feeling like she needed to keep up. Kids loved it to. Some real fun levels and some trophies to be earned. Wish I could have connected with some of my friends online. That part was a huge disappointment. I got the code..

Now I have to shell out 40 bucks for this remote. Thankfully I have a pseye already. But really.. couldn't the remote be cheaper? There's no good games for this thing other than the 'free' one I got x.x;

Seriously though, if I don't get the Move for Christmas... this game will never get played. There's one or two Move titles that look intriguing... but not enough for me to spend that kind of money on, that's for sure. Anyone else feel that some of the levels themselves are hideously tacky??
Not the first couple, but I mean the

one where you're swallowed by a Trex... All the walls are stickered dark matter and some sort of textured sponge... :/

Tbh the rest of them (that I've managed to get through by myself) are pretty good, bt some of 'em are pretty horrendous. Materials and actual technology are great! Innovative and fun... And also surprisingly easy to get through by yourself.

I love the theme though

So something i been wondering... the costumes from this game, can they be imported to LBP1 or 2??
if not, i will never buy or play this for any reason ever, i don't feel like plying money for more or less
levels you need junk to play it like PS-move and you don't even get anything from it in the end (T_T)

It's not backwards compatable.
I assume you'll get all the costume pieces in lbp2 anyway, but at the moment all the popit consists of is a hearted menu, costume menu and the retry button.
The graphics are lbp1 and the prize bubbles you collect contain nothing at all.		2010-12-08 19:34:00

I've played this.
On my own.

The first three levels are fairly doable, with some trial-and-error-and-very-painful-cramped-fingers, but after that, I've given up in frustration.
Gonna have to coerce my brother or mother to play along with the Move.

q:how much space does it require?
a:1142 mbs so a gb and 142 mbs

q:is it good?
a:its a pretty good game. but i don't like it using the lbp1 engine though.

q:are there prize bubbles?
a:kinda. there special bubbles and they don't give you anything other than trophies.

q:is create mode in it?
a:of course not! nothing other than the levels and costumes. they also kept the pod which is dumb.

q:any other costumes besides the new ones?
a:some of the costumes you started with in the first game are still there. no support for the dlc costumes at all.

q:does getting a code for this guarantee im in the lbp2 beta?
a:maybe. ill have to wait and see if im in it when they send the emails.

q:how many levels are in it?
a:haven't beat it yet but most likely 5.

a:great! no calibrating all the time or it not working and having to do it over and over again.

a:5. its a caveman. a cavegirl. raptor bones. a volcano and a broken egg.

a: yes they are part of the prehistoric theme according to the costumes.

q:does the stuff transfer to either of the two games?
a:i can't find my lbp1 disc and im not in the lbp2 beta so i cant tell.

I really wish I wouldv'e saved my code for someone who would use it. You can't even start without a move. I was hoping maybe I'd get to atleast see a little bit without it. Plus since there are no prizes that you can use in the real games, it doesn't seem like something I would bother with. Its great and all, but we should be able to use those adorable costumes in LBP1!

Favorite costume is the Raptor Bones.

I didnt think ign was gonna review this but I went to look at it not much on score they gave it 6.5 i thought this would run on LBP 2 look sense they said its on LBP 2 but it runs on LBP 1. And it would be waste if you cant transfer those outfits from sackboy prehistoric moves to LBP 2 or 1 hmm you know when ign said this is nothing but a demo why not just have it free ya I know its free to ps plus people but to people that dont have ps plus or didnt get code for it they have to pay $5.99.		2010-12-10 14:18:00

Actually, development of the Move started before development of the Wii Remote. Nintendo was just faster.

The PS Move is no more of a rip off of the Wii Remote than the Wii Remote is a rip off of all other previous motion controllers going as far back as things like Le Stick and the Power Glove. Besides that the PS Move works completely differently, unlike the Wii Remote it doesn't use triangulation, and is a more precise motion controller for it.		2010-12-30 08:38:00
