Rule Review and some news

Archive: 34 posts

First of all, I know we've been strict on language. I was hoping members could avoid it altogether, but in that hope I think I restricted it too much. Due to that, and the feedback from you guys, we're relaxing the "bad language" rule. Here's the revised rule:

You can use mild language, but please don't bypass the language filter. Asterisks(***) will replace any bad language automatically. Basically, as long as you don't bypass the filter on purpose and you aren't vulgar about it, some language is allowed.Along with the language rule, we're also revising the "Religion Rule". We've made it much more general, and loosened the reigns a lot:

Heavily opinionated content(such as religion and politics) will be watched over a bit more. Calm, reasoned debate is completely allowed. As long as you are respectful of others opinions, you are free to express your own.Hopefully, both of these revisions will make things a bit more fun and less stressful around here.

Finally, when it comes to revisions, after this thread, I'm going to be working my best to lessen the amount of threads you are forced to read. I'll try to condense information into one thread(such as this thread) and overall try to slow the changes around here, while still making things good for you guys. Let me know what you think about that.

----------------------------

We've also got some good news! Sony has given us access to their Press Information website(it's password protected; for press and media outlets only), which allows us to access the newest LittleBigPlanet videos, images, and news straight from Sony. We cannot put the images and videos up for direct download, but we are allowed to display them anywhere on the site. This will allow us to be much snappier when posting official news and other just-released information.

Finally, I know the interview with Alex isn't in yet. Media Molecule's working really hard right now leading up to the EU release, so I understand the wait. Don't worry, they are good people, and we'll get it eventually.

You would be correct in that assumption.

Yeah, things like that. Try to limit yourself if you can, though.

I have to admit, that when I logged in and saw yet another 'forced read', I was uttering a few choice words myself, but after reading the post I'm glad to see that common sense has shone through. I like the ruling, and as long as people can respect each other I don't see any problem at all. Nice one guys 2008-11-04 13:02:00

i don't see everyones problem with the force reads. If you like this site and like being part of the community, then surley reading the main changes isn't something that should annoy you. I'm sure if CC just put it up as a normal thread then most of you would read it anyway. Just this way he is making sure that everyone gets to see the thread and it doesn't get lost. Surely it's acceptable to read one post a day that is giving you information on site changes. And lets be honest it's not even as frequent as that.
Anyway now i've stopped ******* moaning then i'd like to say congrats on the loosening of the rules as i do think it was getting too strict around here for a bit and the fun was taken away a little bit as we were always worried about getting moaned at for the slightest thing

What do you mean by mild language?

What do you think it means? >_>
Pretty much, anything that isn't strongly offensive, and lighter than most cuss words.
Mild language is nothing worse than the D word which is filtered here.
Shoot, darn, fiddlesticks, dang, etc.

Anyway, I really didn't mind the rules anyhow. But the press release is great news.

This is much better. Thanks for reviewing the policies, as they were getting a bit stifling. I have faith that most of the people here can act like mature, respectful human-like beings without such heavy-handed rules hanging over their heads. The ones that can't will be dealt with and taken care of swiftly and tactfully, I'm sure. Thanks again!2008-11-04 14:30:00

I feel the same. Still, some people feel the need to swear, and im sure these new rules will satisfy them, and everyonelse.

Just an FYI, I just created this account and can't view any page other than this (and it took me several tries just to get this one loaded). Everytime I try to view another thread it asks me to come back to this page and read it. Bit of an inconvenience. : /2008-11-05 17:44:00
