Downloadable Content

Archive: 63 posts

Hello all,

With the release of the Christmas downloadable content, we have reached the end of our planned schedule of downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet PSP. Over the past year we've been constantly amazed, amused and impressed with the creations and general ingenuity you guys have demonstrated through the game.

We hope you've had as much fun playing and creating with the past year's worth of releases as we have had in coming up with them and designing them. We'll continue to be involved in the LittleBigPlanet community (Featured Levels, Featured Players, competitions and general question answering will continue as usual), so this certainly isn't the end of the road, but there comes a point when we've got to let the developers move onto new things.

Ah well, although this is sad, a game like LBP lets you make endless content on your moon. Thanks for all the great DLC that came out, especially the free ones. 2010-12-07 13:35:00

It is very sad news, especially because we can't make new stickers on psp like in PS3 version with caption tool and PS3 camera. But I think, that psp DLC collection already has so many cool things, that creators will generate many new wonderful things!2010-12-07 14:12:00

It's a shame that it has to come to an end, but what about packs like the Turbo Pack? There won't be anymore?

Well regardless, thank you for all your work and committment and hopefully we, as a community will continue to create awesome levels as a way to thank you.

So thank you,

With the release of the Christmas downloadable content,

Is there more Xmas themed DLC coming today/tommorrow then? (Depending on where you live)

Anyway, it will be sad not to see any more costume packs, whats worse though is that there won't be anymore level packs... Sad Panda is Sad.

I personally think this game now officially epically fails. HARD. REALLY HARD. It was a brilliant game, Cambridge but you just had to go and erase us out because LBP2 is more important...nice one....2010-12-07 20:12:00

Cambridge and Media Molecule are not the same. I don't see how this game "fails". Really the game is a game. It's horrible how people say it sucks because it doesn't have this that or the other. I personally think Cambridge did a spectacular job on the game granted the abilities of the PSP. If you play it expecting Cambridge to keep on giving you more and more obviously you are going to have a hard time enjoying the game.

@SockFace, the game is not a "epic fail", look at everthing that has happened and the communtity that has evolved from it. Beside the developers may want to make a other project other than LBP, its not the only thing they want to make. BTW these guys made a great game no matter how you compare to the PS3 ver., I don't feel like you should be calling this a fail...2010-12-07 20:28:00

Well time to use the money I was saving on my PSN for some more DLC. I was saving the money in case they made a new level pack. :/

Hmmm...

there comes a point when we've got to let the developers move onto new things.

New things eh? *Coughlbp2pspCough*

Anyway, I smell a new era of user created content. We already have some right? Trophy for one.

Also, this gives them more time for the Turbo issue.

I think you should let us make our own material.

Example. I want a material that is rainbow colored. So all I need to do is put a SQUARE picture of a rainbow in a specific folder on my psp. (Example: LBP PSP Import Pictures)

http://www.layoutstar.com/images/allbackgrounds/bgs/rainbow/rainbow_9.gif

I start LBP, go to my pod where I will find an import material option. I open it, select which material(picture) and kind I want to make it(Sponge, rubber, metal, and so on). Then it would be put in a new section of the Goodies Bag, called My Materials.

Okay no new Updates or new DLC, Im fine with that, I just wish we could have got a big music pack right at the end, I knew as soon as they said no updates that there wouldn't be another Level pack, because i think they need to update to get a place to put the level pack.

Anyway Thanks Cambridge!

And to anyone who thinks this game is/was an epic fail is an idiot for thinking that.

This is not the smartest move IMO. Even if you can only make new DLC at a Mm pace, you should still make it. Level Packs are a must, plain and simple.2010-12-07 21:29:00

One problem with that:

Think about it, so much stuff would end up being copyrighted material. And I don't think the graphics card can hold every picture.

It was only stickers anyway. I don't see what's the big deal. Now if they were pumping materials and music as a DLC, maybe I'd have a little more reason to go defcon 4 like you guys have. So to help you guys calm down:

I really can't say I can see where that statement has come from. The only time I have ever had an experience with a game that received more post-launch support from the developers, the game cost nearly twice as much to buy and required a hefty monthly subscription.

However disappointing it might be that DLC has been wound down, I can't agree that the game's a rip-off. The initial product is vastly superior to most of the frankly rather shoddy games available for psp and represents very decent value as a one-off purchase. Depending on what personal benefit you gain from costumes and stickers, whether or not the DLC packs represent good value is debatable, but the discontinuation of DLC only reduces your opportunities to spend money to expand the game.

Sorry, I'm confuzzled. Is it just the end of DLC for this year? or will there be more next year? Any way if it is the end I have to say we have alot of DLC's this year! Maybe even more than the PS3! I think LBP PSP is the best game on PSP tieing with Tomb Raider. Actually LBP is better. Also I believe even if there is no more planned DLC then there will still be another you know pack like the turbo! pack and yes it would be lovely to have water and paintanators but it's called imagination people! make your own water and guns! Sorry I'm just sick of people begging for water. Any way I too which there was more music as Voodoo juju is not the type of music that you have in an awesome platforming level! - Thanks Ace! basically they haven't PLANNED anything more but they still may continue to make DLCs but if they dont, look at what the PSP sacks have done together to enhance the game alongside Cambridge its kind of the aprentice becoming quallified and the master finding a new apprentice (NO RELATION TO THE TELLY PROGRAM) plus... what new game will they make for all to swarm to i mean now they've done this what can they do to top it? what if they are working on LBPPSP2 (actually i can see them in an underground lab working on it including all the things sacks want in secret)2010-12-10 22:23:00

Don't worry, eating to much spam can make you feel woozy and do strange things like that.

Anyway, bye DLC. It was nice knowing you...

To be honest with a game that gives as much freedom as LBP, it doesn't matter. The community will continue creating awesome levels and less-awesome levels, all without the help of downloadable things, great as they were.

Thanks Ace.

Using Turbo materials can often trigger a fatal level glitch. It causes your level to load infinitely. Ace and co and working on it though.2010-12-11 15:31:00

I think that they gave on it, it has been what, 6 months almost to the date? I hope they havent though. I hate having to look at those materials and not be able to use them . Also, some of you are acting like they just ended functionality of the game or something. It's just DLC! They said that they have no more planned DLC, they will still most likely release at least one or two DLC somewhere in the future still. Plus, Just make your own updates like sturan said with trophies, or go to my hidden material and showcase thread and get a freaking load of secret stuff hidden on objects and in the templates. The only thing that dissapoints me is that there will be no more level packs . Kind of a waste having a purchased levels section and only having one DLC for it. Hoopelully we may get one more in the future.2010-12-12 04:02:00

Couldn't care less about the DLC, just wish they'd bothered to fix some of the (fatal) bugs.

I still don't believe there's anything wrong with the turbo pack, as I'm able to replicate the same issues with ANY material. I think there's something more fundamentally broken in the game, and since everything I make ultimately corrupts I've just given up playing. A real shame since the game had such great potential.

Point: KIngdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, in my eyes, is the only game better than LBP PSP

And before you stop the dlc one last thing... I need more awesome music tracks like Volver a comenzar from the LBP PS3 ,exican levels, i could do so many things with that track :@

The Correct equation is:
LBP PSP = Kingdom Hearts BBS

Not:
LBP PSP < Kingdom Hearts BBS

Nor:
LBP PSP > Kingdom Hearts BBS

I did, in the Turbo pack issues thread... it's all about geometry and meddling with the popit. The same problems occur regardless of which material is used.

As for avoiding it, I don't think you can. I'm convinced the problem is in the underlying physics of the game, not some simple bug as many would suggest. I'd imagine that's why it never got fixed.

I have used several turbo materials in levels with no problem. Not all of them though, I know for a fact that blue plastic from turbo is trouble. White plastic is completely safe, and so is the green grass material, can't remember the proper name.

I tend to agree with Bovrillor, I think there is more to it than Cambridge wants to admit.

Not that it isn't an awesome game. I have made fifteen levels with the tools, and more planned.
