Aaaarrrggh I hate my ps3

Archive: 7 posts

Fist of all the RCA output died, do I ended up spending all my money and some I don't have on a new tv so I can use the hdmi output.

Now both controllers have stopped charging at the same time. I can't even use them reliably when they are plugged into the system with USB cables.

Before you make any stupid suggestions... read the following

It is NOT the usb cable,
It is NOT the usb port,
I have already tried the reset button,

Symptoms: When usb cable is plugged in all 4 lights flash once then nothing.

I believe it is the battery but have not opened up the controller yet, I need to find somewhere in NZ that sells flat 3.6V Li-ion batteries.

It is NOT the usb port,

Do they still charge correctly when plugged into another USB port, say on a PC?

It seems highly unlikely that both controllers would develop a dud battery at the same time, which would point to a fault with the PS3. I fear you may have to bin the PS3 and get a new one, assuming that's cheaper than getting it repaired.

In retrospect, would it not have been cheaper to do that than to have bought a new TV?

well I found the hdmi on the playstation worked, and I didn't have an hdmi tv, so rather than having a new playstation on a crappy old tv. I had the old semi broken one working on a new HDTV. Both controllers are of the same age. neither charges on any USB port PS3, PC or DVD player2010-12-07 19:42:00

Oh, then sounds like the controllers died somehow, although how they both died at the same time is a mystery. If they were both plugged in at the same time, possibly a power surge fried a transistor somewhere in both controllers?

Still sounds kinda dangerous to be using a PS3 which has not only killed your Multi-AV Out port, but has also killed two controllers.

Yay I love being me!

First I called a battery sales place and they said there were none of that type in the country, "is it possible to get any in?" I asked,
"We have 5 in Australia for $50 each" he replied.

I called another battery specialist
"We can get them but you have to order 150 at a time, how many do you want?"... "umm 2?",
"Come into the shop and we might be able to make something for you." This is more promising.

Next I called Sony Entertainment.
"NO we don't do that!" "you'll have to buy new controllers or send them to be repaired".... can I have the ph number of the repair company?

"NO they don't have a phone number, they are just a repair warehouse"..... will they have batteries in stock?
"NO, they will not sell you one they are not a retail outlet".... can I at least call them and talk to them?
"NO, I said they don't have a phone, and they don't sell batteries"...click

Google.... 0.2sec later I find their ph number then call them.
"yes not a problem, what's your name and address I'll put some in the post"

2 x Free batteries
