Cheese Dreams & Moon Beams - Volume 3TheNotorious-187
Not a "new" level but i've just joined LBPC so i thought i'd post it up on here, Part of the Cheese Dreams series, Volume 3 takes Sack Boy to an Egyptian themed fantasy setting. (3D/Teleporting/Visuals/Tested 1 Player). This is probably the level im most proud of. Volumes 1 / 2 and a mini game also avalable. Would love some feedback!! cheers.

Hi There! The level looked intersesting, so I thought I'd give it a play. I'll write this as I go along, so, um yeah, here goes:

Like the opening. Looks very pretty, the darkness to light effect is good. Sun effect is very cool, especially how it pokes out behind the hill. The 'Volume 3' wobbled a little when it hit, but nothing too bad, don't worry. Still looks lovely. OK, entered the Egyptian Tomb thing. Liked the bouncing thing, though I sort of dislike how you've done the point bubbles, I'm not sure why, just seems to fill too much space prehaps, but again, I'm being picky, don't worry. ZOMG, non-infinite checkpoint! I really liked that bit actually, though it was a bit unclear where to go at times, and yeah, use an infinte checkpoint. If I'd died there, I wouldn't have restarted, an infinite can stop this happening altogether. Ooh, nice use of the extra layers, looks very nice. Swinging challenge was nice, but the bird head at the end was a bit too big, I couldn't really see where to land it. Convayor belts look lovely, plus it was a very original challenge. OK, big point bubbles look really don't fit, sorry.

Teleport effect was nice. Second convayor belt wasn't as good as the first one, and took too long, but still alright.

Another teleport already? Ok then. Wheel was fun, but now their's another teleport. A bit more space between them would be nice.

Ooh, sillouette effrect, nice. Very, very good visual effect here (with the light changing so it looks like a flickering fire). I actually fell behind the bit that has the fire moving back and forth, but I tried again and it was fine.

Another teleport. Stars very cool too. Yay, rotating mazes! Love these, people should use them more. The motor bolt is visible, ruins the effect a bit. Ok, I walked over too where I was ment to go, and there's a giant wall in the way (looks like the one that just came down). Oh, turned out a prize bubble had landed on the switch and moved the ball out of the middle. Agin, small bubbles would eliminate this problem.

Teleported again. Went left in the darkness, turns out it was the wrong way. No, turns out I didn't teleport. Hmmm.

Tried the teleporter again. Worked this time. This section was very nice.

Teleported again. Like the rising effect. Taking a long time though. Went left, which I thought was the right way, jumped, and died. And that's the end. Don't give away the Intersteller Font, it's not yours, OK?

Overall, it was a visually brilliant level. The gameplay was lacking a little (there was a lot of simply walking), but any gameplay sections I did come across were original and fun. Seriously though, get rid of the enormous point bubbles. A :star::star::star::star::star: from me, well done

For F4F, could you play my level "Explosive Adventures" (link in my sig) please? Thanks.

That was a very pretty level. I especially enjoyed the various lighting effects.

I can't really think of much wrong with it. If I was being picky:
- I thought the rotating puzzle was a bit too easy.
- One of the jumps towards the giant ying-yang symbol was a bit awkward.
- At some point you have a normal checkpoint that looks too much like one of your teleporters,
so I spent a few seconds in the dark trying to grab the floor.

Overall it's :star::star::star::star::star: from me.

For F4F could you try my level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=40950-Save-the-Burning-Village!

This is what I think about your level:

Good: Good work with the visuals and thi lights. The scenarios were very nice. The atmosphere of the whole level was very cool and appealing.

Bad: In the area with the fiery pillars moving up and down, and the fiery floor moving from one side to the other, the one after the place with the statues and the lights turning on and off, somehow I fell out of the scenario and couldn't get back, so I had to use the retry in the popit.

I think this level is awesome, but that little problem need to be fixed. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Now, please check my level:

Wow, thanks for the feedback, I know the level isn't without its bugs, the Teleporter messes up sometimes, especially in multi player, this needs sorting, I thought i'd fixed most of the areas where you could "fall" out of the level, i'll check out the one you mentioned and look again at a few things. I know it lack a bit of game play at times, the idea was to mess about with the visuals, see what different effects i could come up with using different lighting/silhouette n stuff. guess its just finding a nice ballance. think i'll give it a proper overhall when the second game comes out. Thanks again for playing my level and the feedback. I'll check out your levels in the next few days. cheers guys.2010-12-08 08:08:00
