So I have searched around and it seems that you CAN use DLC from the GOTY Edition with LBP2? and if so, can someone explain to me how this works? I know that the GOTY content is on the disk so I just wana figure this out. thanks!

Yes you can, it gets carried over with your LBP1 profile when you import it.

I got the GOTY edition and played with that for a while, then I put the original disk in for some reason and it said I didnt own any of the stuff that was on the GOTY... just trying to figure that out :0

It saves to your LBP profile, your game save from the GOTY edition. I'm not sure why but it seems GOTY is not cross compatible with original LBP1 and the LBP1 beta client... but when you import your GOTY LBP1 profile, rest assured it's in LBP2. When you start the game and get the "Would you like to import your profile option?" ... I would know, I've done it.
