One of the greatest enjoyments I get when I first receive a video game, whether it was as a child or an adult. Was the fascination of opening the package up and holding the newly crisp manual. It was even a greater joy when I have anticipated the game from the first glimpse in a magazine or commercial, to holding the final production in my own hands (Remember holding the gold plated Legend of Zelda for the NES for the first time?). But, all that anticipation and excitement can immediately be shot down when you plug the game in and it was clearly rushed to meet deadlines and is littered with technical flaws. Fallout 3 New Vegas anyone? I relate this scenario to LBPC Halloween 2- The Counts Castle. This by no means is intended to say that Artise1 put together something that is raw in substance, rather it's quite the opposite but it does share a few traits of what has plagued so many games. Do read on...

Graphically LBPC Halloween 2- The Counts Castle was done exceptionally well. No im not just saying that to make Artise1 feel good and make up for the comment above. The layer glitch was done to near perfection and it was a welcoming sight to see it used in the fashion that it was. The town was done very well and had that Halloween feel to it with appropriate decorations and pumpkins throughout. What was more impressive was Counts Castle that you see in the background as you travel through a dark forest. It truly showed how to use the layer glitch and get amazing depth. All this was amazing, even when you dive deep into a well. But then the curse really hits home. Time restraints kicked in and it was the demise of this level as you enter into Counts Castle. The castle appeared to be put together by a different creator altogether. The same charm and polish was entirely absent once you reached this point and thats when you felt the same feeling as I mentioned in the first paragraph. The level was stunning up until this point and it literally popped the bubble of 'Wow, this thing rocks'.

Sounds and Music was good in this one. I enjoyed its soundtrack and each portion had its own unique feeling to it. Environmental sounds were good and the lightning strikes had the accustomed thunder rumble to it. It was a memorable moment going through the town and seeing the Castle and the music helped intensify the mood and atmosphere.

Gameplay had quite the differentiating swing to it. From exiting the town to swimming deep within a murky well, it flowed rather seamlessly and effortlessly. But then you enter the Counts castle and your immediately thrown into a battle with the Count himself. The difficulty is immediately elevated and your little sackperson will no doubtingly parish on more then one occasion here. This portion felt entirely rushed on the creators side and there was little for you to do other than tap your shoot button vigorously until your victorious. Unfortunately this part may have you wishing for more.

Final Thoughts: This is a great example of why we all need to be thankful when a highly anticipated game is delayed. If Artise1 had more time to complete this level and add additional elements to it, create the Counts Castle that would live up to the expectation as you see it passing by in the forest and above all, a boss that doesn't appear to be put together in a last minute effort, it would no doubt be stunning. He clearly has the ability to put together stunning scenery, buildings and underwater environments and most of all, use glitches to enhance his levels beyond what we see in the majority of the community levels.

I Rate LBPC Halloween 2- The Counts Castle :star::star::star: 1/2 Stars

Second Opinion: "This is a level with a Halloween theme in it & it looks fantastic. It makes good use of the 3D layer effect. The level itself is decent, Some parts were annoying like the water part near the beginning, & the boss took too many hits & was kinda frustrating. It's a creative level though, & I like it." -DarrienEven
