I'm sad

Archive: 7 posts

So I was working on my level last night (the link's in my sig). In about an hour, I put up a lot of decorations, made a much better points system, and added music. I worked non-stop, and I saved my level about three times. Why am I sad, the thoughtful, caring community asks? When I went to back up my improved level, which I was very proud of, the game froze. So I had to restart my PS3, got a triple-beep of death, started LBP again, and none of my changes were saved. How is this possible? Is LBP hauling my bigass level around in the memory? I thought I had saved it. Can anyone explain what happened or why my changes weren't saved?2010-12-01 22:59:00

Firstly im sorry to hear about this, ive had it happen to me before and it really can bring you down!
The game says that it saves the level but never be sure that it does! Even after half an hour working on your level i would publish it locked or back it up just so you know its safe in case your ps3 freezes. Why doesn't the level save when it says it does? I have no idea, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Yes this sucks but its hows its always been. POO! lol
So please be sure to backup or publish locked to avoid any further disappointment!
Good luck and hope you can rebuild what you lost even better then before

When working on a level make a habit of exiting back to your pod at regular intervals...then it really saves. I believe the in-level saves are just setting an in memory mark for switching between edit/play and don't actually update your disk profile.

If you back up, you can be sure that it actually is saved. A good thing to do is do backup every half hour or so.

I had this happen to me aswell, but my whole profile deleted, and months of my work were lost! The horror! S
So backup yout profile too!

Awwww, I feel bad for you. Though I've never had this happen to me, I'm sure it puts a great damper on our motivation to continue creating.
I thought it does save when hitting the "Save Level" button in the pause menu. Then I read a thread somewhere here in LBP Central that it doesn't really save it to the disk profile, and that it only really saves when you save by returning to the pod. After reading that, I've never used that Save Level thing in the pause menu anymore.

I hope you'll be able to re-create your progress in your level, and make it better than before.

I've had this happen to 4 of my levels
The plus side is that every time, I've rebuilt it better than it was before. So don't give up
