Unknown Level Showcase: Episode 2

Archive: 21 posts

Hi and welcome to the second episode of the Unknown Level Showcase! Here we have 10 more levels for you that we feel dont have the recognition they deserve. Hopefully we can give them a bit more by promoting them on this site.
Also in this showcase we have enlisted the help of Fenderjt and Calyst_Aayla to share their thoughts on 5 levels each.
So a big thank you to them both for their help, and here are the levels we chose:

Farewell Ruins Of The Moon: Chapter One
By AbstractSam

Plays: 488 Hearts: 96

Description: Almost all of the worlds population has vanished and the cities have been left behind. You are Seto, a young boy. You may be the last person on earth. Search through an Observatory for other survivors. [1 PLAYER ONLY]

tom230889:

Its been a while since I played a level that seems to have gotten everything right, but this level has that. With custom music, breathtaking attention to detail, great use of the background glitch and a story that will bring a tear to your eye, AbstractSam has made a level that will stay with me for as long as I play LBP.

Calyst_Aayla:

A beautiful haunting story that has stunning backgrounds and story. This level keeps you interested from beginning to end. It leaves you wanting to find out what happens next!!! An amazing level!!!

A Way Alone
By Juninho8

Plays: 675 Hearts: 89

Description: Description in Spanish, sorry

TonyTwoGunz:

This level is up there with my all time favourites! I cant remember another level that has so many different themes yet still works so well. It is just beautiful to look at and play and i never tire of showing it to people. A must play from an amazing creator.

Fenderjt:

The self composed music used in this level creates a relaxed atmosphere. The use of lights and colouring gives this level a different look to many levels out there. The game play is brilliant and different which is always a bonus.

The Great Night Fire
By The_Jump_Doctor

Plays: 46 Hearts: 10

Description: A fire has engulfed the city! Collect as many point bubbles as you can and escape with your life!

tom230889:

I like a challenge as much as the next person, and the great thing about this is that, depending on what rout you take, the difficulty changes. This is an exploration level at its best, with creative obstacles and materials that work perfect together, you will be coming back to this level again and again for a higher score.

Calyst_Aayla:

I love the fact that you can choose which path to take, and decide between easy and hard. This temple city themed level is epicly gorgeous and perfectly set up. A platforming dream. I enjoyed every minute of this level.

Flowers (Part One)
By Nanjistar

Plays: 222 Hearts: 45

Description: The forest is dying! Can you help little Sackboy save the tree before its too late? - Inspired by the PSN game Flower

TonyTwoGunz:

Never has a level about flowers appealed so much. This is very well designed with some really cool gameplay ideas. I love the part where you start the rain and a flower grows from the ground! It revolves around two seasons (spring and summer) and i for one cannot wait for Nanjistar to publish the next part.

Fenderjt:

The use of the music notes throughout this level is a great idea. Great sound effects used in all the right places. The concept of this level looks great, the wood, the flowers, and every detail that has been created to give this level a woodland look. Game play is fun and is well thought out.

AQUA -deeper edition-
By natuneko5

Plays: 411 Hearts: 65

Description: Feeling of AQUA [the rest is in japanese]

tom230889:

Sometimes, the simple levels are the best. Enter the dark world of AQUA, and enjoy the challenging game play of jumping and grabbing blocks. With beautiful uses of lights, and a fitting soundtrack, this is definitely a level you will never forget.

Calyst_Aayla:

A simply stunning level that leaves you breathless. The use of blue lights and platforms was genius . My eyes stayed glued to the tv the whole time. A truly beautiful level.

Old Pyramid
By ChrisCoConuts

Plays: 75 Hearts 19

Description: Something evil has awoken all mummies to rage in the ancient pyramid...

TonyTwoGunz:

I love Egyptian themed levels, and this is another to the collection. With the dimly lit and complex corridors holding all the gameplay, this level really makes you feel like your on an adventure.

Fenderjt:

The materials in the level really give it that Egyptian vibe. The lighting creates am eerie atmosphere which is always good for a level of this kind. I liked the game play and the fact that is included a character in the level to keep it entertaining!

The Distant Crystal: Prolouge
By Bmoney2310

Plays: 52 Hearts: 9

Description: Find the history of the foreign crystal and why it has come....

tom230889:

An amazing story told perfectly, in a comic book style. With extremely creative use of stickers, it is a perfect Prologue, which leads nicely into Part 1 and 2. With the Prologue, part 1 and 2 being Bmoney's only levels, it saddens me to think that there are people out there that make these awesome levels, and have no one play them.

Calyst_Aayla:

A interesting mix of story telling and comic book style. From the first moment the story captivates you and brings the pictures alive. The sticker use was stunning and very well done. A good level.

CuCube
By taupipop

Plays: 859 Hearts: 60

Description: Description in French, sorry

TonyTwoGunz:

Fun is the name of the game in this level! Made using a variety of sponge materials, the creator manages to pull off a very charming level. But even while your playin there is alot more going on in the background and foreground, and theres even a little alien spaceship for good measure! Really good to play with friends.

Fenderjt:

Cubes everywhere! The materials and colours go together really well and the matching bubbles! There’s a lot of fun game play and the spaceships included in the level give it that final touch. All together a fun filled level.

Krypta - Dark Fire [hard]
By Haexser

Plays: 393 Hearts: 59

Description: Can you beat this level? Enjoy my newest level and have fun.

tom230889:

A dark and intense level, with some mental platforms and truly amazing, (but quite frustrating) bridges, that I still can't work out how Heaxer made them move the way they did? Any level that leaves me scratching my head and thinking 'Just........how??', is a great level.

Calyst_Aayla:

An unbelievably amazing level. From the beginning its tantalising world is begging to be explored. I loved every minute of the level, especially the snake like bridges an old world styling. Definitly worth playing!

[Japanese Title]
By MKT3

Plays: 473 Hearts: 76

Description: Description in Japanese, sorry

TonyTwoGunz:

Wow! Thats what i was thinking playing this level. You are guided through a forest by a tiny light, so if there is more than 1 player stay close. But the highlight for me is the river. Not made with water at all, but made using blue smoke. It is such a good effect it has to be seen to be appreciated.

Fenderjt:

A level in the dark and only one small light used...brilliant idea! This is what makes a level different and stand out from the rest. The concept was well designed and the gas water part worked really well and looks great.

Thank you all for reading our latest showcase! I hope you enjoy the levels we chose as much as we did. See you all next time

NOTE: SOME VIDEOS WILL BE ADDED TO THE THREAD AS SOON AS THEY ARE UPLOADED

It's cool that guys are taking the time to make a spotlight for levels that you believe deserve to be recognized. I did notice a few spelling and grammatical errors. Also, as a suggestion, I think that you guys should provide a link to the level if it has a post in the level showcase here on lbpc, as some of these do have threads.2010-12-01 22:13:00

Thanks for picking my level as a Showcase. I greatly appreciate the recognition on my level. I spent a couple months on it, was hoping for spotlight but fell short sadly... But this makes me feel better about it! I'm glad you all decided to have the unknown level showcase. If you need more people to talk about the levels, I would be glad to help and be one of the reviewers.

Edit: I was kinda surprised my prologue made the showcase. I had published it a long while ago, personally I thought "part 2" was far better.lol

I understand why you're surprised, but I felt that if I chose part 2, people would miss part 1 and the prologue( and I think its not quite a month old yet). Also I chose the prologue because it is an amazing level, and a great story that will get people playing part 1 and 2.

Hi people

Sorry for no episode 3 yet. Due to commitments and being busy over christmas time we were unable to put our full effort into this feature.
We have decided to resume it on LBP2 so hopefully it shouldnt be too long before the next one

Thanks
