LittleBigMinecraft [Pre-InDev] 0.1.3
Archive: 53 posts
Whatever, this never got finished. Pm or tweet me if you want to help me complete it. [Status: #Non Existent# - Pre-InDev - Version 0.1.3 - Added a HUD for block selecting + can place more types of blocks!] LBMinecraft Is a project designed to *imitate* a game called Minecraft (http://www.minecraft.net). LBMinecraft.Levelicon.png LittleBigMinecraft! (http://beta.lbp.me/v/7vcg) LBMinecraft was showen off in LBPodcast EP 103! Awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2fVaIlirv4 Link to vid. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2fVaIlirv4) They will be publishing a full length vid soonish. ~Patch history~ 0.1.2_9 - Better pointer aiming. 0.1.2_7 - Published, finally. If you don't know anything about the full game; Its essentially an Island death simulator, where you appear in a random spot in the world (which is randomly generated) and you have to gather resources, craft, dig, build, etc, so that you can hide and be safe at night while monsters of all sorts run around. I have a working version that is similar-ish to Minecraft's creative "classic" mode (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Classic). Pic.1.png A Tree Fort! With Clouds! .... sorta. Pic.2.png The Caves... Reconstruction will start as of January 18, 2011. I hope everyone enjoys this! Discuss. ~Fishrock123 _ _ _ _ _ | 2010-11-30 23:42:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Sounds cool. Only thing is I think the engine may strain under the weight of so many blocks. You need to find a way to make each block really low on the thermo. | 2010-12-01 01:11:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |
Sounds cool. Only thing is I think the engine may strain under the weight of so many blocks. You need to find a way to make each block really low on the thermo. I'm running ~500 or more blocks at ~55% thermo right now. Only slows during zoom-out and online in create mode. Shouldn't be a problem IMO, I don't plan on making it too much bigger. | 2010-12-01 03:24:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |

Well that's only 25x20... not really enough to build anything substantial this is the problem. Minecraft's world is huge and you can explore... this is lost in this version. I would aim for ~4000 blocks but I don't know if it is possible. | 2010-12-01 11:32:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |

I would aim for ~4000 blocks but I don't know if it is possible. Yeah, I know all about minecraft man. I can only do my best with the LBP2 tools. (each block contains 1 microchip with simple destruction logic and anti grav.) I'm thinking of making the blocks 4x4 instead of 2x2, as spacing might cut down on some overcrowding thermo. (maybe, I dunno if it would work.) Also, when I get the level to generate itself, that should also substantially cut down on the thermo. | 2010-12-01 15:59:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |

Also if the blocks were made of dark matter/light matter they would take a lot less thermo. | 2010-12-01 17:21:00 Author: SackRacer77 Posts: 153 |
Also if the blocks were made of dark matter/light matter they would take a lot less thermo. That's true... I dunno if it would look to great though, even if stickered. I'll keep it in mind though, thanks! | 2010-12-01 18:50:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |

You could always use glitched DM, they still haven't patched it and I don't think they ever will. Here's a level where you can get some. http://beta.lbp.me/v/ph3 | 2010-12-01 18:56:00 Author: SackRacer77 Posts: 153 |

This looks pretty cool... Beta Project, or is it more of a concept from Beta> Game in the Final Release? Never actually have played Minecraft so that should be interesting when I play it. | 2010-12-02 16:41:00 Author: DaSackBoy Posts: 606 |
This looks pretty cool... Beta Project, or is it more of a concept from Beta> Game in the Final Release? Never actually have played Minecraft so that should be interesting when I play it. It's a beta a project, although I plan on remaking it in the full game. It's not really that it would hard to remake rather than hard to initially figure out how to get stuff to work the way it should. | 2010-12-02 17:01:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Coolio, I'll check it out when you publish it. | 2010-12-02 19:38:00 Author: DaSackBoy Posts: 606 |
Do you guys read my mind xD? I mind, I had this project, Treas took a method I had in mind and some of you guys made Portal (even if that is more obvious). Also Patapon and others ones... *sigh*... This is getting weird... xD (and a lil' annoying :/). Anyway, this level looks pretty good, even if it don't looks like the real game at all (I'm not talking about the 3D). PS: Sry for upping an old post. | 2010-12-09 19:49:00 Author: ZeroZ30o Posts: 157 |
You know, it doesn't have to be an exact remake. Don't get too bogged down in trying to replicate the original in 2D form. Let yourself be creative and add ideas that would make it fun in 2D. For instance, not EVERY block has to be the same size. You could different shaped blocks that give you different amount of resources. Having some larger blocks could help cut down on the thermo and allow for a larger playing space. | 2010-12-10 21:04:00 Author: dr_murk Posts: 239 |
Since the beta is ending, I just openly published the last version of it, have fun. | 2011-01-07 22:46:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |

Pre-InDev? ^^' so what you been doing so far instead of developing it? Ofcorse i will check it Pre indev because all of it will be destroyed once the betas done, so its wouldn't be in development | 2011-01-08 14:09:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
very nice. I hope you continue / remake it with LBP2 | 2011-01-08 14:19:00 Author: TehUberZac Posts: 587 |
Video :'(? And I have made Minecraft in LBP 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPxc6-3yfwE) too ! Yes, everyone has recording software, don't they? ... I'll ask Cog. Pre-InDev? ^^' so what you been doing so far instead of developing it? Ofcorse i will check it Pre-Indev because I never released the Indev version, due to being unable to make a generation engine, and no-one caring anyways. (no offence to anyone) | 2011-01-08 22:07:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
wondering if you'll continue this...how will you do water? will you just use REAL water and forget that element? or will you use the same thing that some other guy did in his "SWIMMING SACKBOT" level? | 2011-01-09 04:28:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
This is great! The only real issues I had with it were as follows; The cursor moved too slowly, it the controls felt clunky as a result. Perhaps use a joystick rotator with maximum speed and acceleration so that it feels smoother, and always points to where your stick is aiming right away. There were some issues with blocks spawning. Once I dug down to the bottom, I found it terribly difficult to place blocks in a manner in which to climb back up. The music, though good, didn't have the Minecraft feeling to it. Simply an amazing concept. I've seen a few other Minecraft concepts in the community, but yours is by far the best. | 2011-01-09 07:36:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |

(no offence to anyone) Oh I cared :'(. xD nah, by what people say it looks awesome. Question: is sticker bug still there? Y'a know, when you place too much sticker and they bug . | 2011-01-09 18:13:00 Author: ZeroZ30o Posts: 157 |

No idea, I never got to that point, again, because I never got block generation to work. This is great! I can try fiddling with it a tad though. Could you please VM or post your second point in more detail? Was it after dieing? were you trying to jump-place to climb? I'm not good at music, and that was the most suitable thing I could find. Thank you. Oh I cared :'(. xD nah, by what people say it looks awesome. Question: is sticker bug still there? Y'a know, when you place too much sticker and they bug . Only the tree leaves and TNT have stickers on them. | 2011-01-09 18:23:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Only the tree leaves and TNT have stickers on them. Oh :o. Okay :o. xD I see. Well I tought you stickered blocks like in Minecraft (a similar texture) xD. | 2011-01-09 19:33:00 Author: ZeroZ30o Posts: 157 |
Update! (probably the last one until January... ~18-20ish..) Added - V0.1.3: New block: Sand. Does not appear on layout, but can be placed. Block selecting + you can place any block except bedrock and ores. Small HUD for block selecting. Better pointer aiming. | 2011-01-09 19:49:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Please, please record it. I don't mind it's a camera pointing at TV. At least it's better than nothing . | 2011-01-09 20:23:00 Author: ZeroZ30o Posts: 157 |

Knowing me, you could've politely asked and I still would've recorded it. It's hard for me to say no to stuff | 2011-01-09 22:06:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |

I just made a video of this (10 minutes). Do you want me to put it up? EDIT: I think I'll wait and see this other video and then shamefully post mine with it's poor play in it. On my part that is. Not from the creators design. | 2011-01-10 05:01:00 Author: maddoggnick96 Posts: 272 |

I thought of a way to release new levels. Either capture it as an object and send, or give out a level backup. Do it or don't, just putting that out there. | 2011-01-10 22:28:00 Author: gamerC0LA64 Posts: 274 |

That sounds more like a backdoor to transferring beta levels, which most likely Mm knows about this and will most likely block that way off since we dont want lbp2 destroyed as soon as its released....so yeah hope this wasnt the beta you were talking about | 2011-01-10 22:49:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |

I'm not going to do this though, It too me a long time how to work everything out, and I'd rather have the stuff to myself to be able to make it in LBP2. | 2011-01-10 23:33:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Could you please VM or post your second point in more detail? Was it after dieing? were you trying to jump-place to climb? Yes, it just seemed to be inaccurate. The blocks never spawned quite where the reticle was. To get back to the surface, I jumped and placed a block below me (well, tried to at least). Eventually I got back up, but it was quite a chore. The blocks seemed to spawn all over the place, or not at all (possibly due to trying to spawn in walls). | 2011-01-11 03:20:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |

There are occasional spots within the level that where you jump, you'll mess up the grid a bit, this is because I had to make the grid semi-mobile.. Also, I hadn't thought about tagging the walls until the last day, which may have caused some issues, though I never encountered any myself. Edit: oh, and for jump-place climbing, you really need to time it well in LBM, due to multiple things. | 2011-01-11 20:19:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |

I will make one, but only for the concept. Also, I like it, but... it disapointed me a lil'. I mean, I tought there were animations and that blocks didn't disapear like in Classic. :/ | 2011-01-17 11:57:00 Author: ZeroZ30o Posts: 157 |
