Poms is a noob

And I guess levels like Spice Co. and The Bunker are evidence of this?

Maybe get your facts straight before you go insulting other creators.

We actually had a thread like this before.. *sigh*

Tbh, I think the spotlight crew does an great job on choosing levels for the spotlight. I have never ever been disappointed when I've played the levels from the spotlights. And you don't have to be that harsh, those creators that you mentioned in the first post have probably been working hours/days/weeks/months on their levels...

And as Morgana said before:

The only thing they are baised towards is quality. End of discussion.

Please no flame wars! They kill innocent bunnehs!

If the level was spotlighted, then the spolight crew thought it was good. They are just as human as you and you are just as human as them.

Personally I really enjoyed 'spice and co' the two times I played it, and fenderjt's wooden buttons was quite good too.
Also, poms was invited to MM towers earlier this year for CGJ...

And this is coming from someone who hasn't been spotlighted, and is barely known. No complaints here, after all, they sometimes have to go though hundreds of levels each week, which takes lots of time and commitment.

Be thankful there's people willing to even do it. For free to.

Well, another thread dissing the spotlight crew. Look, the spotlight crew works hard going through a lot of these levels being put in the level showcase and we know they haven't done as much recently because of the ebta but they still do a good job. If you feel that you aren't getting as much attention as you deserve, there are better ways of getting more attention than calling great creators "noobs" or whining at the spotlight crew. They spend their time to mention great levels and there are other people that might already mention levels that the community spotlight doens't have.

>_>

<_<

Anyway, I know it can stink to not get much attention of your level, but this won't help.

Honestly, the spotlights boil down to opinion mostly. The people picked for the spotlight crew generally have the same opinion as the most of us here at LBPC, but not everybody. If you want people to play your level, why not post it in the Level Showcase under F4F ? That's where most people look and where the levels for the Spotlight are chosen I believe.2010-11-29 21:07:00

Oh ffs not this again.

Can always count on you to just be blatantly honest

But yeah... I don't really read the spotlight, so my opinion means squat... but yeah, I'd say it is.... not that my opinion matters much. But still, you really just... yeah, I'll let people who actually read the spotlight to argue, I'm out >_>

Poms happens to be a favourite of mine, just because he's not your taste doesn't mean you should be disrespectful.

As RTM so kindly put it, Bang out of order mate.

Now, now, no need to be a potty mouth!

Everybody has their own opinions, but I believe you are attacking people by their personality and being rude in your response, while also bending the limits of tolerance. The creators spotlighted do deserve it, at least that is what I believe. I have played through most of their levels (required for making my poems to them) They have a certain atribute fitted in their level(s), a bit of glittering glimpses and amazing stuff crammed up!
I do not enjoy your not so elaborate sentence of speaking of Poms as a "noob" which does indeed make no sense. Even if he maybe copied some ideas, he is then spotlighted for doing it well, etc. An many things may be copied by other creators when you think of it as nothing is fairly original (all starting with the levels of MM). In my opinion he is great at what he is doing (play for an example the Miracle of Life by him) and that still stands due to your not so polite manners of writing.
And now I am to defend FenderJT as well... And no I have not played your levels, though I shall check them out on this occasion to come back later and tell you my experience. If this topic has survived until then. Now, her levels I do find amazing and they get their attention because they simply are. The funky fun stuff appeals to all the girlish people out there who want to have... FUNKY FUN! And she masters the area of platforming quite well too. She has her own attitude, so does her levels, and that is what makes her a good creator.

And it must be mentioned as well that the spotlightcrew will never be able to cover all amazing creators so they have to choose some. Their choices are fair in my opinion as I do often find out about creators I have not often heard about (or not at all) and that convinces me it is fair, as they dig down for the good stuff. While digging deeper!

-Moon

EDIT:
Just noticed this was a talk about the normal spotlight, not the creator spotlight... I bazinga myself...

EDIT (again):
But it still counts

As I have already written to you about, please do not attack the spotlight because you have not got into it! We spotlight LEVELS, NOT CREATORS that we feel deserve the limelight. Is it our fault that some creators produce consistently great levels? NO. So why should they be denied the same rights as any other LBPC member - the right to have a great level spotlighted?

I'm sorry, but I just do not see your standpoint. From all I can see, you are annoyed because your level did not get into the spotlight. Hundreds of other people are probably feeling the same way (I know I used to) but those creators go away and they get better, they do not flame other creators in jealousy. Please stop taking out your anger on other people.

I don't mean to be funny but those level showcase threads have pretty much no information, whenever I see levels spotlighted it is not only because they have a great level but because they have spent time and effort gathering screenshots and and filling out the level thread with a good description.

I'm not saying this is a requirement for getting in the spotlight but it probably helps.

An empty showcase thread makes no difference, as we play every level in the showcase anyway. We don't judge a level on its presentation on LBPC, or on who created it, but simply on the level itself.2010-11-29 21:26:00

Did someone cloned me while I wasn't aware?

Really buddy, touching the spotlight matter will only gather hate on you.
And anyway...not agreeing with the spotlights doesn't grant you the right to
F'N address people in that bad blunt way!!!
Especially lovely people like fenderjt and poms that are lovely persons that have given so much to the community!

Nothing to see here

I wish, they are not equal in the spotlighting you will always see the same faces appearing such as fenderft, poms and tonytwogunz...

Rather than accusing the team of being biased towards certain creators, would it not be more constructive to ask them what it was specifically about your levels which made them decide they weren't worthy of a spotlight?

Whether you choose to do it publicly or privately is up to you.

No, it hates you.

Of course it's fair. It spotlights the best levels, not the people who try hardest. keep trying and eventually something good enough to be spolighted will come of it.

Shouldn't this warrant a lock? It's only gaining the OP hate, and I think the spotlighters have made their points now 2010-11-29 21:45:00

If this thread is so awful, then leave it alone. That's what I do when I see a thread like this. We don't need the whole forum to come to attack this person. It's just ironic that threads like these get more attention and replies than 'normal' threads.

Spotlighters and others have already made their wonderful points which is a commodity considering they do it every time we see this kind of thread.

Just move along and press the back button on your browser.

I directed you to that thread because it explains exactly what we Spotlight Crew look for in a level. Having personally not played either of your levels I myself could not give you personal feedback on them. The thread I directed you to should have all the information you need for improving your levels.

On the basis of this (and the other posts you have made), I'm going to assume that the original nature of the OP was posted in frustration and you've probably said things that you didn't mean to. As such I don't think this is going anywhere worthwhile, so I'm locking the thread down.

Please do look into the level promotion tactics threads and especially the F4F system to improve the visibility and quality of feedback your level receives, in order to progress your skills as a creator, rather than lashing out at other members of our community who have never done anything but produce art for the enjoyment of others. And in future, please think twice about posting things such like the personal insults at the beginning of the thread, especially if you are simply doing it to vent your own frustrations.

I know it's all said and done with, but I just want to reiterate a a few of the things I think are most important for you (and others who may be feeling the same way) to understand.

As many have said, a Creator being Spotlighted on a regular basis is not a sign of bias on our part - some Creators simply consistently create with more quality, which, as a result, earns them a slot in our Spotlight more often than others. Our Spotlight crew plays every level posted in the Level Showcase, so the only variable they're ever considering is quality. If your level is good enough, it will be Spotlighted. There are no other restrictions placed on potential candidates.

That said, I'm sorry that the Spotlight process seems unfair to you, but there's nothing I can reasonably do to fix that. It's a problem of perception, not of truth, so the only way it's going to stop seeming unfair is if you look at it from a different point of view. Hopefully, you'll be able to appreciate the Spotlight yourself in time - if not for what it is, than at least for what it aspires to be.
