Are you a game pacifist?

Archive: 23 posts

I always try not to kill people in games if I can help it. Fable? Time control and run away super fast. Mirror's Edge? You're not supposed to fight. Assassin's Creed? Run away! Civilization 4? Victory through culture! (Gandhi style)

Am I weird, or are you guys pacifists, too?

...

My method of dealing with enemies: kill everyone, otherwise they'll stab you in the back later.

I am the opposite, on warhawk i get so bored owning people with air strikes and snipers that i just tend to (if friendly fire is on) kill my own team. If friendly fire is not on however i tip them off a cliff while im in my plane

On World of Warcraft (if you've heard of it), I travel to the enemies zone and hide behind a rock. When they are dueling there is often 1 person that has just come out of a Battleground with PvP on in the fight. I wait until he's partially dead and splatter him then run off on my steed

Dont take me for deranged, But it gives me great pleasure killing anyone unexpectedly (not in RL)

I have no aversion to killing. At all.

However, I don't go out of my way to kill every enemy I come across. I won't pursue an enemy just to eliminate them, and I don't necessarily sweep every single area for enemies before moving on. Typically, I keep the objectives in mind, and kill as confronted.

On the other hand, I rather like stealth. And I'll utilize it when I deem it useful.

But the bottom line is that I never confine myself to one style of play. I mix it up. Because sometimes one way is better than others in one situation, but not in another one. And plus, it always makes it more interesting to try and win a situation doing something completely different ways than you would at first.

I tend to play games somewhat in line with how I would behave in real life. I stick to the objectives for the most part, and save the killing for the bad guys. Don't get me wrong, I love to carve people up. I just don't make a point of butchering the innocent. At least not on my first play through... >.> <.<2008-11-03 17:21:00

I don't get any pleasure from killing innocent civilians. They're no challenge...

This is very true. Although I guess it never stopped me from killing the hosties in Counter-Strike. *shrug* I found it very therapeutic, like popping bubble-wrap.

Yeah, there's another thing I should add:

I'm not antagonistic. In fact, I'm very much AGAINST antagonism. For example, I really don't do any takedowns in Burnout Paradise, even if people go after me. (I'm more of the type to be running a server, and kick those that are.) You will never find me doing any teamkills, regardless of where. And I much prefer coordinating with people in order to do something, rather than loosely attempting something in tandem with another, and subverting the other's attempts for the fun of it.

So if you ever want to play with me in LBP... Please, leave out the slapping, alright? And particularly when it's for the purpose of causing epic death by fiery fire pits of DOOM!!

Lol thats god to see you don't kill only steal. Sorry but the thing with me is I try to avoid killing but I always end up killing . I guess stealth just isn't my strong point.

Well I'm one of the people that got excited with the inclusion of stunning/non-kill shotgun bullets in MGS4 so what do you think? 2008-11-04 10:59:00

Well I play my Metal Gear games with no kills (bosses are annoying in MGS4 T_T), and I'm pure good in Fable II, despite that fact the good morph is ugly (hate that halo).
I dislike killing in games, but I dunno why.
Heck, in MGS3 I avoided eating animals unless absolutely neccesary. (Which was a lot)

Well i don't like killing in MGS games cause it shows more skill. Especially in 4, as it's so easy to kill in that game thanks to unlimited ammo/easy access to weapons
Infact in any game i can be stealthy in, i will be. Though it is hard in some, eg Far Cry 2.
I do like the odd rampage now and again though

Kill your enemies before you change your mind and they kill you. That is what I say. COD4 if you **** me off with racist comments and team killing watch your back and corners.2008-11-05 02:49:00
