Snow :)

Hey Sackfolks, we woke up to a Winter Wonderland this morning, here in Derbyshire, after quite a considerable snowfall in the night.
I took a few pictures in our back garden to share with you all

Here's a little snow dude I made.....
http://i794.photobucket.com/albums/yy222/sackyjones/Miscellaneous/Snowman.jpg
.....although, they don't make snow like they used to! I remember when I was young, you could make a snowball and roll it round and round in the snow and you ended up with a massive great snowball because it all stuck together, with which to make your snowman! Today the snow just didn't stick together, must have been the wrong type of snow this time!

Does anyone else have snowy pictures to share from the recent snowfalls, or in fact any snowy pics

Don't have any pictures of snow, but in my city which is located in southern Ontario, there's a little bit of snow.

There's like, a thin layer that just appeared there overnight. I can still see green patches of grass, but yeah.

Better than yesterday, with little white dots (that looked like styrofoam beads) covering random stuff.

Wow.. you got a bunch of what I call fluffy snow. Not much water to it so it never will pack. Still pretty to look at and can make driving much more fun. lol

We haven't gotten any yet although recently the temp has been at or below freezing as well as amount of rain being well over 2 inches. With that type of weather, you'd think we would have been hammered!

Well, we don't get much snow over here sadly and when we do, most of the time it's just slush. Although, it's a good idea for a thread and those are some nice pictures. 2010-11-27 17:00:00

I'm not really sure how much snow it is here but I would say it's at least 15cm... and it's about -11?C and next week should be even colder.
It's nice to live in Finland...

Reminds me of this... Someone doing cartwheels at the literal South Pole at -25.5 F, -44.7 F windchill.
(For you Celsius folks, that's -31.9 / -42.6)

And even more disturbing, some images from the 2007 Antarctica Swimsuit Calendar.

SOOOO not fair we don't even get snow

lol well we do but it only snows here every ten years and it snowed two years in a row last year and the year before that but that wasn't even snow because it melted before it could reach the ground so it's basically just freezing rain.

'Might', that word is as bad as 'soon'
and I think ALL of us know how terrible things are when the word 'soon' is used.

back on topic, they say that we're supposed to get some snow this week.

I didn't notice that! Both pictures had Jimi playing left-handed, but I must've flipped the photos around and then not noticed the difference. I made the guitar in LBP with materials, yeah.

I actually love driving in it! That is once I put my snow tires on. lol

I have a set of Blizzack LM22's that I have had since I bought my car. I only leave them on during the few months we get snow, but I always wait till it really dumps before I put them on. My car being AWD and with these tires on in the snow, it's like a turbo charged snow mobile with comfy seats and heat!

The only real snow we've had this season was on Thanksgiving. It was pretty awesome because my grandma was cooking the Turkey, and it totally felt like Christmas when it was snowing outside.

Anyways, I hope we can get some snow in before Christmas break [21 days!!]. Maybe even *ahem* get a day off of school?

I remember snow in Derbyshire I lived there once upon a time. I remember wet socks and painfully frozen ears and numb fingers while attempting to do my paper round.

I haven't seen snow for 15+ years except on the mountains, here it is currently 28*C at 9pm, it is dark outside and I'm sitting here with all the windows wide open.

You know what annoys me though? The way the news talks about the snow as if it some kind of apocalyptic force that will doom the country into a winter of death and grit shortage.

"When will it end!?" I heard on the radio today. These people's inner child's must have died a long time ago. Forget about how your going to drive to work or get your shopping and just enjoy this wonderful time of year!

We only get it every so often so make the most of it! Now who's coming sledging with me!?

You know how cavemen have been found frozen in blocks of ice? Well the same thing happened to a SPARROW in my GARDEN:

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/9930/solidsparrowsmall.jpg

It was found under a fence, so i guess the snow built up around it and it got trapped. Found it frozen solid in a sitting position.... really weird :C

First get some blankets, a hypodermic needle with tubing , and a warm saline solution in an iv bag. Next Slowly Bring the birds core temperature up by injecting the warm saline solution into a main artery. If it hasn't been frozen too long it should be alright with only minor brain damage. If that doesn't work you could always throw it at your friends for a laugh.

We got a couple o' inches here...
School's still open, and it's just a warzone out there... D:
I hope they close it soon; the school bus was an hour late yesterday and started skidding pretty crazily...

Of course, I have a GCSE tomorrow (ISA, if anyone cares) so many that's why I want it shut

And poor sparrow :'(

No snow in Brooklyn (Arnald is also here in nyc!? Where are you arnald? )

but the streets were flooded after rain, mostly because of a ton of clogged drains in the roads... ugh

Man, our snow isn't even snow!
it just shoots down in chunks ofice and freezing rain, making all the roads a nightmare to drive on!
then we get the 8 inches of snow that hides it all!!!

but it's awesome to slide around on with your shoes!

Hey Sackfolks, we woke up to a Winter Wonderland this morning, here in Derbyshire, after quite a considerable snowfall in the night.
I took a few pictures in our back garden to share with you all

Here are some updated pictures of our garden, taken last night. It is snowing again now, so I will take more tomorrow in the light. The little bump you can see on the table is where my little snow dude is buried!

Wow, it's really building up It hadn't snowed here at all today up until now... it's started again. We did have some Diamond Dust (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_dust) this morning though, which was really pretty. I'd never seen it before.

Also, I caved in and made a snowman. Oh god he's a mexican bandito or Saddam Hussein or something.

You know what? Brazil does have some snow, but only at specific locations. Here's a pic from a trip long time ago:
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/3700/dsc00049ci.jpg
And it even is THAT much... Only some ice on top of the car's windows and a tiny bit of snow everywhere... And that only happens during the night.

Went to a parade in East County last night... it was freakin' cold, but I had fun.

There WAS snow... ok, it was ice blocks thrown in a wood chipper. But still, it was ICY PARTICLES ON THE GROUND. It was part of a lil' snow hill that some Boy Scouts made.

Santa wiped out when riding down it and landed on his face. xD

It's been snowing here in michigan. I like snow when it's falling, not so much when it is on the ground. Hm, that reminds me of what we used to do at my elementary school. Since it used to usually rain and than freeze, this field would always be frozen over like an ice skating rink. All the kids would slide across it off their shoes and stomachs. The girls always seemed so proper and well organized with the way they traveled across the ice all huddled in a group, but than me and the rest of the guys would be all over the place, flipping and falling over, just going nuts on the ice. Good times...2010-12-06 04:57:00

It was minus 14 for about a week earlier in December, and we got about 2-3 feet of snow.2010-12-19 13:41:00

A bit of snow... that's what tends to happen during that season known as "winter".

What I find surprising is that every year 'winter' seems to take everyone by surprise, you would think we would have noticed the pattern by now

Such a drag. We don't have any snow yet where I live. A little came down but never layed. It's just like a really cold autumn. Not even any snow for christmas. Bummer.2010-12-27 17:27:00

I hope the owner of this car doesn't have to leave in a hurry. This is what happens when you park your car on the street and it snows a bit in Finland. Currently there's half a meter of snow in the capital, Helsinki. To those who don't know what that means in practice, I can say you that it's a *lot*.
