The General Potential Graphical Improvements Thread
Archive: 28 posts
Since the PSP 2 may very well be in development, it would be a good idea to make a thread about what graphical improvements we would like to see in the next LBP PSP, given that the PSP 2 will have an improved graphics card and processor. A good and conservative way to make a dynamic shading effect: Bare in mind that shadows are the absence of light, so it's the light that casts pixels, it's not the shadows of objects that cast themselves. | 2010-11-24 14:12:00 Author: Snicklin ![]() Posts: 83 |
First of all, If the PSP2 comes out LBP2 won't come out for it. How could they transfer all the levels from LBP1 to LBP2 if they have a system jump? It's impossible. Also, LBP PSP's graphics don't need to be improved, their fine as is. The glitches need to be attended before anything else. | 2010-11-24 18:51:00 Author: The-Questor ![]() Posts: 1328 |
It's not impossible. You don't even know the system's capabilities and you claim that level transfers are impossible? I'd like to see moving Creature Parts. They look strange in LBP PSP. Also, lighting. You know, since it's gonna be more powerful than the original Xbox and all. Moreover, give Sackboy a tongue and be able to sticker him. ![]() | 2010-11-25 19:55:00 Author: DrCell ![]() Posts: 102 |
I agree glitches should be first priority. However I don't know how much is possible in the way of graphics. I would be happy with whatever Ace and co decide. | 2010-11-25 20:52:00 Author: PygmyOwl ![]() Posts: 1316 |
They could, and should have backward capability on the next lbp. I remember my first ps3 could play ps1 and ps2 games (the newer ps3 slims you can't), but I seriously hope it is possible. | 2010-11-25 20:58:00 Author: VelcroJonze ![]() Posts: 1305 |
"Reports" indicate that they are doing away with UMDs, so people that bought the UMD version will be out of luck if it is backwards compatible. :'( Though I hope that a new lbp psp would be developed for the PSP2. I would buy the system in the hopes that there is one. Can't wait to see. | 2010-11-25 21:20:00 Author: Captain Rule ![]() Posts: 360 |
l heard they were going to stop making and selling UMD'S and make them all PSP GO version and l thought it was weird because people have PSP 3000, 2000 and 1000's and don't want to buy a psp go cause it cost more. | 2010-11-25 21:32:00 Author: Flashwire ![]() Posts: 217 |
Ugg PSP go is stupid in my opinion. Im buying a 3DS and maybe a PS3 most likely not getting a PSP2 though. I think you guys should get a PS3 instead so you can play LBP2 with me ![]() | 2010-11-25 21:37:00 Author: SketchNZ ![]() Posts: 1668 |
@SketchNZ: I'm might get a PS3 this weekend!!....Probably won't though, but if I do I'll definately play LBP1 and 2 with you. @Flashwire: They are still making UMDs. Lego Harry Potter just came out for PSP so yeah, they're still making UMDs. @VelcroJonze: They could and should have backward compatibility for the next LBP I agree. Though they would have to make the next LBP for PSP1. @Dizzyzebra: Thanks for agreeing! | 2010-11-25 22:15:00 Author: The-Questor ![]() Posts: 1328 |
Though they would have to make the next LBP for PSP. WRONG. See my first post. | 2010-11-26 00:20:00 Author: DrCell ![]() Posts: 102 |

Also, dynamic shadow casting won't be all that hard to pull off. Bare in mind that darkness is the absence of light! A light source should cast it's own pixels, like in real life; the shadows are just the absence of the light source. For reference, Google for Lamps in Garry's Mod. | 2010-11-26 17:42:00 Author: Snicklin ![]() Posts: 83 |
WRONG. See my first post. It's quite impossible. How would they take 150,000+ levels that are on a completely different system and transfer them too the new one? | 2010-11-26 19:55:00 Author: The-Questor ![]() Posts: 1328 |
It's not like it's stored on the console. It's like saying that the transfer of 1,000,000,000+ levels in LBP to it's sequel is impossible. | 2010-11-26 21:52:00 Author: Snicklin ![]() Posts: 83 |
NOOOO nothing is impossible. | 2010-11-26 21:54:00 Author: The-Frez ![]() Posts: 275 |
@QuestOr I wont be getting a ps3 until after March (if then) so i mite not be creating two player with you any time soon. | 2010-11-26 22:18:00 Author: SketchNZ ![]() Posts: 1668 |
It's quite impossible. How would they take 150,000+ levels that are on a completely different system and transfer them too the new one? You obviously know nothing about tech. Levels are stored ONLINE, not on the console. There are over 2 million levels on the PS3; most of them work in LBP 2. Don't deny a fact, you'll only make a lolcow out of yourself. | 2010-11-26 22:28:00 Author: DrCell ![]() Posts: 102 |
@QuestOr I wont be getting a ps3 until after March (if then) so i mite not be creating two player with you any time soon. Cool. I got Wi-Fi on black Friday, and I might be getting a PS3 very soon......Or not. You obviously know nothing about tech. Don't deny a fact, you'll only make a lolcow out of yourself. Wow, no need to get rude. ![]() You obviously know nothing about tech. Levels are stored ONLINE, not on the console. There are over 2 million levels on the PS3; most of them work in LBP 2. Don't deny a fact, you'll only make a lolcow out of yourself. You're missing my point. LBP2 and LBP1 are both on the PS3 system, it might be impossible to transfer the levels from LBP1 to LBP2 if they brought out a PS4, and made LBP2 for that console. Also, I am well aware that published levels are stored ONLINE. If the levels were stored on the console then LBP PSP would crash 100% of the time. The only levels that are stored in the PSP system is the ones that are downloaded. Not so clueless on tech now, eh buddy? ![]() No offence was intended in this post. Although I have no idea if it'd be possible to play LBP1 levels on a new system, I thought this thread was about making LBP2 on the PSP2? I honestly would not care if I could play LBP1 levels or not if LBP2 came out; it'd be nice, but new features and game play elements are what I really want. Lighting would be nice, too. | 2010-11-28 02:22:00 Author: metsfan1025 ![]() Posts: 181 |
hey mster if you think nothing is impossible you haven't tried pulling a door that said 'push' heheheheheh....![]() | 2010-11-28 15:53:00 Author: SockFace ![]() Posts: 190 |
@the questor a difference in hardware does not mean a difference in software. pspN1000 users and psp1000 users can both play lbp psp. @DrCell Over 3million on the ps3 side now @Sock face I can do that and get the door to open | 2010-11-28 16:11:00 Author: unXpectiD ![]() Posts: 1132 |
@The-Questor: Sorry about getting rude, I have a tendency to be brash. However, your statement is incorrect regardless. The PSP loads levels by where objects are, how they work, how they are decorated etc. Not to say that LBP PSP 2 will be entirely compatible, if it is at all. I simply would not disregard the possibility. Cambridge/Mm would at least try. | 2010-11-28 23:25:00 Author: DrCell ![]() Posts: 102 |
Sure I will make it open even if I have to brake the door. | 2010-11-29 02:01:00 Author: The-Frez ![]() Posts: 275 |

So many people leaving us...come back and visit please. ![]() I was thinking of using all my PS3 money to buy a working PSP. <3 Back on topic List of things I would nag Sony for: UMD support More sturdy analogue stick Better Graphics But mostly bigger capabilities to handle LBP. | 2010-12-02 15:15:00 Author: PygmyOwl ![]() Posts: 1316 |
If they do make LBP PSP2 they need to iron out ALL the really stupid glitches that are STILL ingame(after about a year). They should make use of the PSP2s double analogue sticks and touchpad and make sure we have ALL the basic features of LBP1(I don't mean water etc. I mean the stuff that shipped with LBP1 like different grid sizes and stuff). It would of course need some new features as well. | 2010-12-02 15:48:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Motion Blur! Here's how it would work: The linear velocity of an object would determine a velocity blur on an individual object, the blur effect will use the same technique as the gas or fire effect in the original PSP game... you can see where I'm going, right? And then the speed of the camera movement would create a blur on the screen as a whole. Does anyone else know any methods of making a conservative motion blur effect? | 2010-12-03 00:18:00 Author: Snicklin ![]() Posts: 83 |
