Attaching a cog to a rod...

Anyone else having problems trying this? I'm working on my level finally... "To catch a Sack thief..." but one of the key parts of the last (well, I'm working on the last level first) level.... is the safe. I can get the combination (tumblers) to work with 3 cogs on a motor bolt, but I'm hitting a snag when trying to attach a rod to the back of the cog. I've got a work around (rod to material, and material to cog.. and then a motor bolt on the cog)... it just chews up more physical space than I want. But if i try to set up a rod with no material at the top end and then try to blot the rod to the back of the cog it's not attaching... did I just find a combination of items that "doesn't" work.. or am I just missing something? | 2008-11-02 19:22:00 Author: DaSaintFan Posts: 136 |
I am having a major problem with this because i am making a wheel of death similiar to that in "The Bunker" but going in the opposite direction and the middle can not be taken up because that is where you need to end up, i have tried to do something like that but you can not attatch a cog to a rod alone, but have to have it attached to material and the material attatched to the cog, if you find a way to do this please send me a message because it is a crucial part to my level, thanks! Cheers! So far, Rain.. no luck.. I've tried a zillion different ways of getting it to attach straight to the cog, but it just won't stick.. (I had to start my safe all over.. (when the safe is about 8 times the size of SackBoy, it just turns out "ugly"... and you have to change your original idea around a bit.) So you are trying to attach a motorbolt through a cog to the end of a rod? I don't think this would be possible from how the game works. Rod and motorbolt are both "connectors" and need "objects" to attach to and connectors are not seen as objects. So it won't be possible to attach any connector directly to another connector. I can't try it, but judging from how connectors worked in the beta thats how it is. What about just placing a wafer-thin tiny piece of dark matter behind the cog and attach it to that with a motorbolt? If you want the cog to move though, then you'll have to attach the rod to material, but does one tiny piece of wafer-thin material really take up too much of the thermometer? | 2008-11-03 21:47:00 Author: Shiwayari Posts: 167 |
