(Suggestion) In game checkpoint system and time rate

I'm not talking about the cross gate checkpoint (or whatever they are called) currently in lbp but something entirely different.

Haven't you ever wondered where exactly people stop playing your level before? Did you make the saw of doom to doom-y you ask yourself. As level creators we need to know how people play our levels so we can make adjustments accordantly and make better use of the statistics page! Well I have an suggestion (A feature I think youtube already has but not in switch form...) a switch which can detect if a player has passed/activated them, you could simply place these switches like any other switch.

You can set them to have a value of 1 to 8 (maybe more?). Time of triggering the switch would be shown on the statistic page as well, example: If I took 1 minute to trigger checkpoint 1, then I took 3 minutes to trigger checkpoint 2. The number of triggers by different people and time would be shown on the statistic page. It will be great in multiple path levels as you can see how many people took which path.

Another feature which would be good for creators and players alike is
Average completion time stat. Show the average time to complete the level (longer then normal times would be omitted form the stat to stop screwing of results). Would be great for accurately finding how long one level goes for and how long it takes for people to complete your level.

Fastest completion time stat (Fastest sack): Shows the faster time and maybe even shows the person did it (though I just think the fastest time without the person who did it will work better).


So in conclusion.
- In game Checkpoints, results shown on stat page
- Average completion time stat
- Fastest completion time stat

I don't think they are hugely important but It would be a good suggestion for a future patch

I would definitely like some better feedback/stats from the LBP server players.
Occasionally I get a "TOO HARD!!" comment on my level, but that doesn't help that much.

Agree with everything you say about time rating, but i think that having to place a switch on a checkpoint wouldnt be as good as for example being able to label your checkponts, so i could have one called "entrance" one called "swing over gas" and such so i could tell at a glance which checkpoint was last activated, and at the same time which puzzle or challenge led the player to quit early2010-11-22 17:50:00

Well that data is quite useless for normal player so why not make something like video and ad systems, have much detail statistics that is only useful for creators hidden in some section available only for creator

But question is, if they take LBP as platform just for fun but thing or as a serious platform, i didn't see any custom map/level detail statistical information like that on any other game, even if make them is much more complex
