Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves, LittleBigPlanet 2 Demo, Beta Expansion All Coming in Dec

Archive: 140 posts

Sackboy Move levels, LBP2 Demo and New Beta phases have been announced.

One of the promises we made after moving the LittleBigPlanet 2 (http://us.playstation.com/games-and-media/games/littlebigplanet-2-ps3.html) release date was that we?d find a way to give you all additional LittleBigPlanet (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/littlebigplanet/) goodness ahead of the new game?s January 18 release date. Well, now I?m pleased to share the good news with you. Here?s what we have in store?

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/5186388928_60ae0fd272.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/5186388928/)
Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves

This is a brand new spin-off PSN (http://us.playstation.com/psn/) title that showcases all of the fun that can be had when Sackboy gets his hands on the PlayStation Move (http://us.playstation.com/ps3/playstation-move/) motion controller. Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves contains a brand new 10 level theme dominated by dinosaurs, where the Evil Big Rex is king. Throughout your mission you must take on challenges engineered by Terrance Dactyl ? and you?re going to some need help, so put on your bear skins and grab up to four friends to navigate the tough terrain of the tropical jungle dodging erupting volcanoes and other environmental hazards standing in your way.
The player with the PlayStation Move (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/playstation-move/) controller leads the charge, flicking switches and triggering platforms to help the other players, using DualShock Controllers (http://us.playstation.com/ps3/accessories/scph-98050.html), through each level. Leap between Dino heads, use the Move controller to blast aside crates of bubbles, ride dinosaurs through prehistoric cities, and take to the heights of tree canopies?then team up to defeat Big Rex, all while collecting Trophies along the way.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/5186388812_8291fe7e58_m.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/5186388812/) http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1273/5185787063_d098c7d365_m.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblog/5185787063/)
Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves is completely standalone ? it doesn?t require the original LittleBigPlanet (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/) game or LittleBigPlanet 2 (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/littlebigplanet-2/) to run. What you will need is one PlayStation Move controller (and the PlayStation Eye (http://us.playstation.com/ps3/accessories/scph-98047.html) camera, of course) and at least one friend with a DualShock Controller ? since it is a Move-required and multiplayer-only co-op experience. The game will also be included on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc when it is released on January 18.
But, for everyone who?s desperate to have some motion-controlled fun with Sackboy before then, and for the new PS3 (http://blog.us.playstation.com/category/ps3-playstation-games/) and Move owners who haven?t yet gotten acquainted with our stitched-together friend, Sackboy ? Sackboy?s
Prehistoric Moves will be available on the PlayStation Store (http://us.playstation.com/psn/playstation-store/index.htm) on December 14 for $5.99.
That?s not all though! A week earlier, on December 7, all PlayStation Plus (http://us.playstation.com/psn/playstation-plus/) subscribers will be able to download Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves for free! And, as an extra ?thank you,? thousands of LittleBigPlanet supporters will receive Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves for free; stay tuned for more details
as we get closer to December 7.
For all you Move fans, Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves is a lot of fun, but it only scratches the surface of what?s possible when PlayStation Move and LittleBigPlanet team up, so keep an eye out for more updates after the release of LittleBigPlanet 2.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Story Mode Demo

Now for some more great news?there will be a LittleBigPlanet 2 PSN demo coming your way on December 21! This demo will give everyone a taste of the new Story Mode in LittleBigPlanet 2, along with our new gameplay mechanics ? including CREATE! Swing from different objects with the Grapple
Hook (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/09/10/littlebigplanet-2-beta-update-featurettes-pax-2010-wrap-up-lbp-on-twitter/), rescue helpless Sackbots (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/29/littlebigplanet-2-new-sackbot-featurette-trailer/), and experience the chaotic multiplayer fun that blows up when the competitive scoring mode is coupled with Sacboys and Sackgirls armed with
the new Creatinator (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/11/03/littlebigplanet-2-update-the-creatinator/)! The LittleBigPlanet 2 Story Mode demo will be available on the PlayStation Store (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/playstation-store/) on December 21, so keep an eye on the calendar.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta Trial

Over the past few weeks, it's truly been astonishing to see the creations that have come out of the LittleBigPlanet 2 beta trial. In fact, we?ve been so impressed, we?re going to expand the beta trial a bit further, so in early December, a new batch of invitations will go out, including PlayStation Plus (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/playstation-plus/) subscribers, more community contributors, and even some giveaways. Stay tuned early next month for more info!
So, to summarize all of the above?

Early December?A new batch of beta trial invites will be sent out to PlayStation Plus members and more! (exact date tbd)
December 7?PlayStation Plus subscribers and a big bunch of LBP supporters will get Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves for free!
December 14?Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves will be available on the PlayStation Store for $5.99!
December 21?LittleBigPlanet 2 demo will be available to everyone!

LBP2 Demo on my birthday!

Anyway, the Prehistoric Moves sounds very entertaining, but I think it would be more fun if I had a Move bundle...

So items from the prehistoric spin-off won't transfer to LBP?
I'm planning on getting move for Christmas anyway. If I'm not one of the
thousands of LittleBigPlanet supporters will receive Sackboy?s Prehistoric Moves for free then I'll wait for LBP2.

Also, more beta invites! Hope more of you guys can join us!

No, it means if you have PS+ you'll be eligible for the latest "batch":

Playstation Plus you beauty, see you in the beta lads! *clicks heels and twirls cane*

also which email does the beta invite go to? I signed up to PSN with a hotmail I don't use anymore, I still have the p/w though just wondering if that's where to look when the invites go out.

PS+ means... Well, see schm0's 2nd post.

Also, it goes to your PS+ account's current email address.

I really hope SPMs dlc works with LBP and LBP2.. or... It better work with LBP2...

Also, I sure as anything hope it includes the ability to play online.

SPM is burned to the LBP2 retail disc. Also I might be wrong but I don't know if SPM has prize bubbles but if it does it must work with the other games since SPM is pretty much guaranteed not to have create mode.

Hmmm... did the wording change? Because the way it reads now:

Early December?A new batch of beta trial invites will be sent out to PlayStation Plus members and more! (exact date tbd)

makes it sound like if you're a PS+ member, you're in. Not trying to argue with you, I'm just trying not to get excited for no reason.

Now I have a few good reasons for getting Move. Between MAG, Heavy Rain, and now this. Not to mention Mm said they might release Move tools for create later down the line. I think I will now. Good to hear.2010-11-18 19:00:00

Nope, you're just reading from the bullet list. Check the paragraph above. The quote you cited doesn't say anything more than what I reiterated. In other words, in the new batch of beta trial invites, they will be sent out to PS+ subscribers and more. Note that the word "all" does not precede the subject.

Whatever "more" means to you is your own interpretation, but it's most certainly not exclusive to PS+ subscriber, nor is it guaranteed that you will receive one simply for being a PS+ subscriber.

Not trying to argue with you, I'm just trying not to get excited for no reason.

You can get excited, just don't do so because you believe that you're guaranteed a beta invite because you have PS+.

Oh boy, I was kind of worried the Beta would end soon. We might even get REALLY close to the release date before the Beta ends... Eh, who would believe it?

For me though, the Beta is enough LBP-Goodness, I have the CE Pre-Ordered anyway (For my Birthday ) so I guess I'll be getting that Add-On anyway.

So if you have Playstation + you are eligible for the next batch of invites. So if you've never done anything for the community or published any levels you won't automatically get it? ):
One question I have is: If your PS+ subscription ends are you evicted from the beta?

I have a STRONG feeling now that the beta levels will NOT be wiped out at release, if all plus subscribers get in. If they would wipe out the levels after that, a lot of ordinary gamers could get upsed.2010-11-18 19:53:00

The problem is that the god glitch has resulted in a lot of community prizes that shouldn't be. e.g. the pod, the craft earth & moon, whole story levels.
The only levels that may transfer are the Mm picks, but even then it's unlikely.
Also, not 'all' plus subscribers are getting in. As has been pointed out earlier.

According to a comment on the Playstation blog, SPMs will be offline only.

Awesome stuff. Makes me sad that you NEED the move to play this though :/

Can we do online co-op with this and play with someone online who has the move?

Also, awesome that it’s free for PS+ members

Eric Levine | November 18th, 2010 at 10:33 am
It’s actually offline only for Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves, so you’ll need to have PS Move to play.

Its comment number 2 (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/11/18/sackboys-prehistoric-moves-littlebigplanet-2-demo-beta-expansion-all-coming-in-december/)

SPMs will also have its own set of trophies. (See comment 20 on PS Blog)

They wont be wiped, they'll just be confined to the beta servers.

With the God glitch, the only way to transfer levels would be to have MM/Sony/someone approve them... Which would cost alot of coin..

.... Hmmm.. I really hope we get a beta patch before the next beta guys come in.

My dad's asked for Move for Christmas, so this'll be fun. Having said that, I don't particually want to pay for it, so I'll wait for LBP2 to come out. I'm a sub-account, so no BETA for me (and the master hasn't played LBP1 since January, which was once), I have no PS+, so it looks like it'll just be the demo for me.

Ah well, that still sounds fun

ok i gotta see if i got this right,

if you got ps move it means you will ge a free lbp move dlc early. instead of getting it later along with the final game?
does that mean if i buy the move now, i'll get a free dlc called Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves? or is it too late for that?

and beta is only for people that are a playstation plus member?

and most important, IS this in europe? ??

EDIT: wait, this has nothing to do with owning a Move controller does it?

No Sackboys Prehistoric move is free to PS+ members, it is a game that requires the move to play, it is a standalone title with trophy support. Some other members of the community will also get it for free. It is the 10 move supported levels that will be on the LBP2 disc upon release.

so if you're not a plus member or "some other members of the community" you can just buy it.

I hate it because it's a stupid gimmick. Leave Move to the Move games and leave my games alone. Grrrrrr.

And the money, of course.

I didn't get a console to wave my arms around like an idgit. There is a reason why Wii is the only console I don't have.

I wouldn't pay for it when it's going to be in LBP2 anyway as it just seems like a waste of money but seeing as it's free for me and I have a move why not. Something to do until release if I don't get a beta invite in the next batch.2010-11-19 14:52:00

Yeah, but it looks like it will be fun and cool aswell. :3

.....I really hope they add move stuff to the beta before release. :3

I'll be trying to play this on my own, like i did with some of the 4xco-op prizes in the game. I can just imagine trying to hold move in my mouth whilst using the dualshock, hope nobody walks into me otherwise it could like very dodgy. 2010-11-19 16:34:00

Hmm, does SPM have online play? If not, I'll just wait for it to come bundled with the awesome...

And is it right that the LBP2 Demo won't have Lift Off but Rocket Deathmatch (or whatever it was called) instead?

I think the way they handled the Move stuff is pretty sketchy.
I'm mainly a single-player guy, but I still want all the stuff that comes with the DLC pack.
They should've just set it up for the Move and Navigation controller. Or they could just let one player use the Move online.

Left hand:

Thumb - Left stick
Index finger - Face Buttons
Middle finger - R1

Right Hand - Move

It'll be a bit of a faff but you should be able to solo it that way.

I'm probably misunderstanding your post, but Prehistoric Moves is a stand-alone thing.
It shouldn't carry anything over to or from LBP or LBP2, as far as I can tell.

So, if you can't, or won't, play the Move levels, that's okay!
It's just some silly Trophies.

It definitely looks like there are some new materials, stickers, and objects here.
Why would they make all of these new assets if none of it carried over to LBP1/LBP2 create mode?

I have my level in LBP 2 beta - "'MOVE' all around! (concept demo)" - it is not full level, just small concept - you control cursor with analog stick and can place way-points for sackbot. Also holding R1 and moving analog stick over special objects in level you can move these objects for helping sackbot to pass through obstacles. It is example of using analog stick as Move controller.

A little latter I will publish full level with such gameplay and also there will be another level for two people - one will control sackboy and another will control cursor for moving objects and solve puzzles.

So all Move gameplay can be easily adapted for Sixaxis.

I can't see them coming over until LBP2 just because this is a standalone game that doesn't need LBP1.

No. It's not "likely".
It means you make a chance at getting in the beta. Don't get your hopes up too much, since that means you'll only be disappointed.

And I DO hope you meant the actual demo, and not the beta. If you treat the beta as a demo, I shall be really disappointed that you decided to ignore your volunteer job.

Ok i cant wait! A demo would be awesome ...But i really dont like the idea of a beta time expansion this really annoys me. People who Game share get beta and even some people who dont even deserve to get it,But i know People as well Who are amazing With ninja logic skills that they deserve beta... If you have been working with me lately you know how good i am at creating ,i just dont find it fair on the other half of the community that hasn't participated in any beta's and prabably never going to........

Well my point wont get heard ,Only if Lbp2 came out sooner.

Well maybe a create demo would be nice....i dont know Whatever ill be playing in January with you peeps

This wasn't meant to come out Negative...much

I think that there might be some prizes to bring to lbp2. Yes, it is a standalone game. You don't need lbp 1 or 2 to play it, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't transfer stuff over. In the videos I've seen people playing dressed up in lbp1 costumes. So you must be able to transfer from lbp1 to SPM. So why not then transfer from SPM to lbp2? And I've noticed prize bubbles in the videos too, although they have nothing in them. I'm gonna wait anyway since I already pre-ordered the collector edition 5 MONTHS AGO! Then it'll just all be on one disc and I won't have to worry about it.2010-11-23 20:21:00

Assuming there ARE prizes.
And it doesn't exactly "come" with LBP2. Yeah, sure. It's included on disc.
But it's very much a stand-alone title, since it'll also be available from the PSN. It probably doesn't even integrate with the main menu of LBP2. (I am basing that statement on nothing in particular)

I don't know how many people gameshared the Beta and I don't know anyone who did. I do know that if you download the beta on another playstation everytime it is activated non one the other gets locked out for 24 hours. I have locked myself out of a couple of betas due to transferring onto my other PS3. So if anyone did gameshare the beta I feel sorry that they aren't getting to play it

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding about the beta/demo thing. Some people DO think the beta is the demo. So, yeah. My bad.

And about the actual beta: All I was saying was, don't be too hopeful. You've just as much chance of getting in the beta as anybody else with PS Plus, so it's great to think you might get in. Just don't get too excited that you might end up getting angry if you don't get selected. That was all I was saying.

So, is it just people in PS Plus who have a chance in this round of the beta?

In this passage...

Early December—A new batch of beta trial invites will be sent out to PlayStation Plus members AND more! (exact date tbd)

So those who weren't selected have a chance now!

I'm so excited. I hope I get selected so I can blow the people at Media Molecule's minds out!

Same here. I've played LBP2 for a day, and in the little time I had on each machine, I produced an easily 5 star level. I am really hoping I get the BETA for several reasons: Firstly, I'm over 18 , secondly, I haven't had the BETA before. Thirdly, I have PS Plus. And finnaly I know that I could make breathtaking levels with my hands on it.

I've also had a terrible year with relations dying etc.

So I really hope I get picked

It comes on the LBP2 disc, so technically yes. but basically, it doesn't require LBP1 or 2 to run, and costs for people who want to buy it seperate.

i think the beta expansion might start today or tomorrow.
every time i have problems with my pc and ps3 something good seems to happen. and im having problems again.

first my pc restarted during boot up. startup repair fixed it.
then my ps3 glitched up and i had to reboot it. it happened while i was on the ps3 browser but the screen glitched up and went black.
and yes these actually happened.
so do you think its just bad luck? or do i have some magical power that causes stuff to break when good things are about to happen?

edit:i think im correct now.the lbp2 beta expansion the lbp2 demo (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/news/article/littlebigplanet_2_demo_and_beta_trial_expansion)an d sackboys prehistoric moves (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/news/article/announcing_sackboys_prehistoric_moves/) were announced the 18th of november. well in thisthread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=39787-Sly-4-Teaser-Trailer&highlight=trailer) i stated that my copy of the sly collection crashed two weeks ago. which the furthest of that date is the 19th. but the sly 4 trailer the threads about (http://www.ripten.com/2010/11/14/hidden-sly-4-trailer-in-sly-cooper-collection-mauler/) was found on the 14th which is within that second week leading to the possibility that i posted it earlier than the 19th meaning the crash might have happened before the announcement.

Well, a lot of people who Don't own PS+ (Like me), simply received it for, being special?? I don't know, but there's really no answer to this, but a Best one I can think of is, that you receive it through your Email, Via Voucher, and there really isn't anyway of telling of how to get it... Unless you hacked the system and managed to get it when the PS+ guys got it "exclusively".

NOTE for anybody out of the know: I didn't hack stuff. It was just available for sale at that point. Most likely a glitch with the Store which was fixed later on.

I don't have move and whenever I try to play it, it goes into a black screen and does nothing. I'm assuming that's because I don't have move and not a problem with the game, although I did think it was weird it didn't even say anything like "please turn on your PS Move controller".

Basically no, you can't play without the move.
