Your best MS Paintbrush Artwork

Archive: 12 posts

Hey all, before all the fancy stuff (3D studio Max ect) came out there was Microsoft Paintbrush. I loved this pixel by pixel simplicity. There was one thing I was good at, it was making cars. (And dont be too critical, its paintbrush for crying out loud!) Here is one of the best ones that I did...

The yellow one was my pride and joy and certainly best work I did. Its funny to look back at each step and how it progressed from looking like something out of a cartoon to something more realistic.

I was wondering if anyone else had some paintbrush work they have created??

Oh wow that looks amazingly well done, especially the yellow one with the perspective views on it
Still can't believe you did this with only paint..

Thank you. Most dont believe its done in paintbrush until I show them. I imported it into Photoshop (the yellow car above) and did a few things with the lighting that enhanced the windows a bit so its not one flat color like it is in paintbrush. Other than that, its remained the same and the one pictured above is purely Paintbrush. Give you an idea how I start off with a project...

It's mostly using the 'curve' tool to start off with to get the general flow of the car. After thats done, I go back and clean up the overlapping lines and just tweak tweak tweak. It's a fun thing to use, just difficult to get the shading and the curves down to show its depth and what not. Once its done and its time to add color, I change the entire color pallette to about seven different shades of the same color and use that in the shading process. It's a hoot and yes, I just replied in the "Biggest thing that makes you a nerd" forum.

Very nice! This just goes to show that MSPaint isn't a horrible program like most seem to think. 2010-11-19 20:40:00

Well, here's another great alternative I found that works on Macs, Windows, iPhone, iPod touch and iPads...

And best of all, you don't have to download!

I quite like the "webbiness" feature too

I was referring to the castle and the artwork in the background with the exception of the three dimensional tube & box's...which the background is all from the original NES Mario Bros, hence the 8-Bit, not SNES. I certainly wasn't trying to offend you so please have mercy, im only a patch of cloth
