What's the difference between Little Big Planet for the PS3, and Little Big Planet fo

I really want to get Little Big Planet, but I don't have a PS3. Although I have a PSP and I just want to know if anyone can explain the differences and similarities between the PS3 version and the PSP version. Is the PS3 version worth getting a PS3 for?2010-11-18 04:08:00

In Gameplay, both games are practically the same. I had the same dillema as you. I too wondered if I should get a PS3 just for LBP, but the only real differences are these:
PS3: Paintinator,Water, Stickerized Costumes, decorations, multiplayer, more DLC
PSP: none of the above

I think it is worth it if you buy the PSP version, because there are some great levels.

You are going to get some very biased reviews if you post here in the PSP section...

But really, the only solid differences is that PSP is (obviosly) lacking graphics and some gameplay capabilities, but it packs a great community, at least, I hear that it does...

The PS3 side has a lot of game-play capabilities, and it lets you play 4 players online cooperatively, but it can be difficult to find good levels, unless you refer to the LBPC Spotlight (http://spotlight.lbpcentral.com/), that is. It's a list of many levels that have been selected as excellent by LBPCentral. (It also has PSP levels.)

The third option, is to get LittleBigPlanet 2, which is releasing sometime in January 2011. This is a video and information of it here:
http://www.littlebigplanet.com/2/

Why don't you read about the PS3 and PSP version of LittleBigPlanet 1 on LittleBigPlanet.com:
http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/game_guide/ps3/
http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/game_guide/psp/

I'd recommend getting the PSP version, because a PS3 can really expensive, depending on your situation.

Umm main reason not to get ps3 version is that you cant play my psp levels on it Just kidding.

Well Its up to you, Lbp psp is cheap so you should just go buy that now. and if you dont like it you can sell it and save up for a ps3 and lbp. Or get both!
They are two different games, its not like they have the same story levels or setup.

It's also easier to get recognised on PSP like alistair said, so if you make an awesome level it wont get lost with the other levels if you post it here on the LBPC PSP side.

There are so many cool things about lbp psp and lbp ps3 so i dont think you will regret getting the game.
I hope to see some levels from you soon.

Do keep in mind that if you buy a PS3, even if only for LBP, you do get the benefits of the PS3 itself as well.
Lets see, as for differences, from what I recall:
PS3 ver. has.
- Water from the Pirates of the Carabean Pack is not available. ( That DLC does not exist for PSP ver.)
- Online multiplayer Create mode (and offline too).
- Online multiplayer gameplay.
- Greater number of ways to decorate sackboy. (May no sound too interesting, but trust me, you can make some rather good costumes from either existing characters, or your own.)
- Ps3 version you can create and play in 3 layers, while only on 2 on the PSP version.
- Paintinator, (a "paint gun") and paint switches, which are part of a MEtal Gear Solid 4 add on, is not available on the PSP ver. (That DLC does not exist in PSP ver.)
- I believe there's a greater amount of both free, and non-free DLC for PS3 version as well.

Extra perks that come with the PS3:
- Access to a large amount of demos, may not seem like much, but they're really good, and pretty fun having a lot if you don't have many games.)
- A basic online browser, so you can browse online while on your PS3.
- Friends list and ability to send messages back and forth. (Heard someone say PSP doesn't have that, no sure tho.)
- 20/ 60/ 80/ 120/ 250/ 320 GB of space to place all your movies, pictures, and music. (How much memory depends on the model you buy of course.)
- You can listen to music while browsing online. (Just a little feature I like. )
- There's a text chat too since a not-so recent patch too, can be used for chatting even while in game. (Even if everyone's playing different games.)
- A voice chat, that sadly can only be used while not paying any games.
- PS Home, I know some may not like that, but it can be rather entertaining sometimes, really reccomended to new PS3 players.
- Works as a blue-ray DVD player, so you can watch movie in it too.
- A bunch of other things I most likely forgot.

Trust me, even without any games, (at least for me) the PS3 is well worth it.
Now if you get LBP, then that'll just greaten your experience.

Oh, and feel free to add me on PSN if you do get, a PS3, to help ya hit the ground running.
Seems like my argument is more like persuation, so the east I can do if you do is hook you up to get a good start.
(PSN: Yarudark, btw.)

Hope that helps!
(Oh and to the PSPers, feel free to call me out on anything I said that may be wrong, regarding the LBP PS3 - PSP differences, I'm just talking by memory and by what I've read around the forum and other similar threads, don't wanna be giving out false info, you know? )

Yea you're pretty much right on everything there. PSP does have an online browser as well, but not as powerful.

If you have the money, buy the PS3.

If you don't, then I can guarantee that settling for PSP is not a bad thing. It's not a crap version of the PS3 version - unlike mnr - and your experience will not differ by much.

That reminds me, why does MNR PSP suck so much? Really lazily made if you ask me.

Corner editor and static material. BUY THE PSP VERSION.

Tho PS3 ver. has Corner editor as well. not the static material indeed, altho glueing/ attatching with a piston, the material to the level walls, or dark matter gives off the same efects.

ya actually i like both but i like psp version better, not to say that that won't change with lbp2 but. i feel like the psp has a better community no messages so no gamesharing and the psp can only handle one psn if you log on to another one you loose all your downloads to a re download like i signed off and my turbo uin downloaded itself so. and we as i said havea better community once on the ps3 i asked if i could create a mech suit while online i eas told to "**** off" and was booted. so i would spring for a psp 3000 they are way better.2010-11-21 19:06:00

I bought both, I play both, I lurve both, and they are both great games but if you have to pick one currently. buys the PSP version. Get used to that. Then buy the PS3 version, because the PSP version is simpler and will get you s bit more used to the PS3 features.2011-01-28 01:29:00

no offence to any passing ps3ers but lbp ps3 is no more than a novelty.
i hate dark matter, my pod, info moon, extra layers, story mode and all those decorations.
lbp psp has all you need and all you want.
get the psp version, save up for ps3, come to same conclusion as me and return to psp

Well, it sounds like you already have a PSP, and if that's the case, LBP PSP is only $20 right now. If money's not a problem...

PSP advantages:
-Static materials are so convenient
-Portability
-MUCH easier to get recognition-I've created one level ever, so I'm clearly no big-shot creator, yet my level is a few off of 500 plays and has 80 something hearts. You're threads are also much more likely to be responded to; most decent levels have upwards of 20 posts by the time they drift off the front page.
-Simplicity (in a good way--when I see LBP2's features, I feel like I'd be overwhelmed when I went into create mode)

PS3:
-Huge gameplay advantages from multiplayer to water to 3 layers to water to all the new stuff LBP2 has to offer.
-Superior graphics
-Just released LBP2 so likely to be around longer
-PS3 is a blue ray player and has free internet and stuff (whereas I have to pay for Xbox live )
-Better stability to my knowledge; the PSP version has been known to crash and corrupt, though mine's only crashed like 5 times ever and I've never had a corrupting problem *knocks on wood*

All I got for now..

I'd argue for PS3.

More materials, better graphics, more advanced physics engine, 3 playable layers, water, and soooo many small things that make it great. Like editing the angular radius of your sensor switches and such. Also gluing in the PSP version kind of bugs me, and corner editing on PSP is faster, but buggier. Overall I adore PS3's version, and I think PSP is rather basic.

Personally, it all depends on what you plan to do. If your main plan is playing levels, go for PS3. They are longer, there are more and they just have a larger selection of everything. Creation and community: PSP. Due to the simplicity of the PSP version, it is far easier to create quality levels. If you created levels of PSP caliber on PS3, you would get chewed and spit on. Not to say either are bad. Some get the knack of PS3 creating and turn out brilliant levels. PSP levels are also fun and worth playing.2011-01-30 05:27:00
