The Lost Pharaohpoms Get into the Great Pyramid and face its terrible secret. The Lost Pharaoh has become alive! Hi there! Is there anybody still playing LBP1 instead of LBP2 beta??? Well, I am I've been away many months, but now I?m back with lots of free time. So, first thing I did when I finished working season, was getting my PS3 on again? I spent a couple of weeks playing MW2, but then one day, I realised that I could have built a new level instead. I was playing LBP2 beta with Steve Big Guns, and we were trying to recreate Egypt with the pyramids? etc. SBG refused the idea, but I liked the idea of an environment located in the mysterious antique Egypt. Most of the game play of the level is inspired by MM levels. Mainly the intro level from a demo I played ages ago, which gave me tons of ideas for jumping mechanisms. I?m particularly proud of the crocodile section, which are part of a Dinosaur level I refused to make some time ago? but seeing the results, I could resume if I feel inspirited. Ok? I hope you all like this level? and let me know if there are any bugs! (My testing team is missing/playing beta! Lool) P.D. One thing I've noticed is the level jumped just after publish to 1st page of cool levels, and stayed there? I promise I have no idea how the new system works. | 2010-11-16 20:07:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |
Great work i love your levels got to check it out | 2010-11-16 20:12:00 Author: nillrecuring Posts: 104 |
I'll play it on the weekend. | 2010-11-16 20:14:00 Author: Eronninja13 Posts: 637 |
Now, I have to try out this one. I am working on a pyramid level myself and although there seems little resemblance to yours, I have to make sure that it won't appear like I am stealing your ideas here. Those crocodiles and the 3D layered pyramid look very impressive. | 2010-11-16 22:46:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
I just played this level an hour after you published it and before you posted this thread and it is exhilarating. The detail of the pyramids at the beginning and the end of the level looked awesome and the gameplay is a top notch thanks to some great mechanics. The minigame in the middle of the level with the crocodiles and scorpions is a really fun point-fest experience that will have you keep on bouncing until it's over. I liked the part where the mummy dissolves into the mummy enemy, that was genius, and the boss battle is ingenious too. Also the end of the level reminds me of "The Bunker" levels thanks to the familiar music and the water ride [good times ]. Overall, it's as brilliant as your other levels and I like to see what you come up with in LBP2. 5:star:s and a <3. | 2010-11-17 01:21:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
Looks... epic, to say the least! I'll check it out as soon as my online's back up! | 2010-11-17 05:00:00 Author: booXely Posts: 654 |
-+ Mummies are cool, but it's too hard to react in time for the first one. Plus they stop when they run into a checkpoint. + Some nice use of circlular mechanics. - Why did it turn into a survial challenge?! O_O I was confused for a few minutes there. I would add a visible timer/ticking to indicate to the player it's going to stop eventually. I thought I broke it or something, which wouldn't make much sense. - The croc before the boss is a little hard to use. Perhaps that's the point? idk. - Arrows rain down thick and fast on the boss, very hard to react in time to dodge. Also resulted in some spawn deaths, and also died while grabbing the sponges. Still a solid level I guess. I liked the croc design, and that hard 4 moving platform section the best. EDIT: Fair call, good fixes. | 2010-11-17 05:12:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |

Overall, it's as brilliant as your other levels and I like to see what you come up with in LBP2. 5:star:s and a <3. Thanks Justin. Yeah, I saw your early in game feedback... glad you liked the mini game, enemies... etc. You're right about the final ride with the music, I've used this sequence before... I suppose I think it's a cool way to finish the level Now, I have to try out this one. I am working on a pyramid level myself and although there seems little resemblance to yours, I have to make sure that it won't appear like I am stealing your ideas here. Those crocodiles and the 3D layered pyramid look very impressive. Don't worry about "stealing" some of the ideas. Most of them are not really mine. Many of the mechanisms are taken from a MM demo I played some time ago, and there are tons of Egypt levels out there... so, go on with it! -+ Mummies are cool, but it's too hard to react in time for the first one. Plus they stop when they run into a checkpoint. Well, you can hear and see the door open, so I think you've got time. But maybe the first mummy comes out as a surprise... so, that's why there's a small tip if you die with the first mummy. - Why did it turn into a survial challenge?! O_O I was confused for a few minutes there. I would add a visible timer/ticking to indicate to the player it's going to stop eventually. I thought I broke it or something, which wouldn't make much sense. Well, it doesn't really turn into a survival challenge. It's just a mini game in the middle of the level. I think it's a fun moment, and I decided to make it last a bit (1 minute I think). Good point about adding a timer, I've already updated the level with it. Thanks for the idea - The croc before the boss is a little hard to use. Perhaps that's the point? idk. Yep... I know it's not easy to use. I was going to use it for game play, but I finally used it only to collect a few score bubbles. Anyway, I've added a tip now, because many people tries to jump from the mouth, when it's the tail that makes Sack jump real high. - Arrows rain down thick and fast on the boss, very hard to react in time to dodge. Also resulted in some spawn deaths, and also died while grabbing the sponges. Well, you don't have to "react", you have to move away from the sponges when the boss raises them... and when you grab them, they don't shot any arrow. Anyway, I still agree it's hard not to die here... | 2010-11-17 19:54:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |
A very nice level, until the part with the big wooden wheel and the trap door... Perhaps I am just to old for this, but I can not get past that without drowning. | 2010-11-18 00:09:00 Author: Iso Posts: 1 |
The big wooden wheel....? I'm not sure which wooden wheel you mean, but if it's the one on the water, you've got a big crocodrile waiting for you. There's another wooden wheel, which is covered by sponge... so just grab it. Hope this helps... Thanks! | 2010-11-18 00:40:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |

Hello, Just like all your other work, brilliant. Another masterpiece to your library of stellar levels. Everything from the mummies and the mid level alligatar challenge, to the mechanical contraptions the the flung me up to the next tier were sheer works of art. I truly enjoyed this level and I thank your detailed work. Pros: +Beautifully blended 3d glitch use to give larger than life pyramid appearance +Ingenious creation of contraptions and challeges +Cool mummies, alligator pit, and boss +Love the way you incorporated a mid level challenge +Very well place checkpoints and clues Con: -Near the end when the alligator would whip me up to grab prizes and bubbles, I could see the level above. Just out of curiousity, how long did it take you to create this? Regardless :star::star::star::star::star: and a<3 for you and your level. *And if you have time I have several levels under "my creations" that can use some feedback. | 2010-11-18 03:45:00 Author: sascha_winter Posts: 163 |

Glad you liked most of it About your negative point, you're right, but I'll have to leave it like this I'm afraid... BUT... it's not really a flaw if you think about it. You're sent to a crocodile hole, and up there, there's the pyramid . PD. I'll check your thread after playing your level for some nice and honest feedback EDIT. Great Works Poms!! I have played at your level last night and again today with my friends! I consider it the best Egyptian game ever ! it is well done, especially the graphics part and platforms. The part of the crocodile is really funny and original! I played too many times your other levels and I think one of the best creative and talented! very good! What a treat to have a new level from poms, I thought I would have to wait until LBP2! This level is amazing, from the jaw dropping opening, through the great gameplay, mini game and boss battle! It must be so hard to keep out doing yourself, and creating levels that live up to your other perfect levels, but you've done it again! I really like the small changes you made, there are some better camera angles, and the "safe zone" in the boss battle is very helpful. The only thing missing is a box full of rare DLC that you promise to open after you get 10,000 hearts. Just kidding, there is nothing missing, this is an instant classic! | 2010-11-18 18:36:00 Author: JakePutz Posts: 92 |

Yup, fellow dinosaur here. I've actually been really busy lately and haven't been playing much of lbp1 or 2, but seeing you with a new level brought me in for a bit. My verdict? Absolutely fantastic. You really nailed this one. From beginning to end, it felt polished, beautiful, and had many innovative gameplay moments. It reminded me of how much fun lbp1 still is. | 2010-11-19 03:58:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

Nice man, I was exciting to see another level from you, especially with most talented creators turning their attention away from LBP1. Overall, it was a good fun level, with my favorite part being the flippers that were run by the revolving pin. The mummies poping out of the caskets was also a great touch. 5/5! | 2010-11-19 20:21:00 Author: Lockstitch Posts: 415 |

All the obstacles were a great amount of fun and some of them quite clever too. But I felt like the alligator section at the end was a bit too long. I would have rather had some more platforming sections rather than get launched up at some points by an alligator slowly moving to the end of the level for what felt like an eternity. I liked how you had a mini game in the middle of the level to break up the pace, but that too, felt a little long. Maybe if the player dies before the mini game is over they should be forced to the next section. The visuals complemented the level nicely and the pyramid at the beginning was cool to look at. The visuals seemed much like a MM level in the sense that they conveyed the visual style intended without getting stuck up on fussy details. Overall it was a good level, not quite 5 stars in my book but still a blast to play through nonetheless. | 2010-11-20 15:46:00 Author: zynax555 Posts: 170 |
Jeez! New level! Can't wait to play this! Haven't been to LBP for a while... Last time I just went online to get create and platinum trophies. Now I have to watch pictures... EDIT: I watched pictures. They seemed very nice. Not your best work tough. I love the visuals of Fairytale Fights over any other of your levels. Well, soon I'll tell you what I think of gameplay. | 2010-11-23 10:01:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |

Not bad things those you suggested. My thoughts here were than jumping is just fun, and if it's on a crocodile river, it could be even original and fun... Anyway, the community is very big, and each player has different thoughts, so I updated that part of the level. I liked your idea for the mini-game, so I've done it such as you suggested. Thanks!... and I'm glad you liked this level a bit more than "The Miracle of Life" Jeez! New level! Can't wait to play this! Haven't been to LBP for a while... I worked so hard on that thing.. lol. I hope you like this one too! ... And I agree, not my best work, but IMO after "Spice & CO", anything I do in LBP1 will be "not my best work" Thanks for feedback! | 2010-11-23 12:27:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |
Well you speaked only true in ''Spice & CO>Not my best level thing'' and I can't really blame that. Spice & CO is just so awesome! Well I played your level, and it was very good. Not best (As we both mentioned) but still very good. Gameplay was fun in the platforming parts, enemies were fun since you didn't need just kill them ''Plumber'' style, visuals were much better in game, but not your best, not even your second best work in that section. Crocodiles were great! It was nice difference to other action inside the level. Boss was also nice, but it could have been longer. If it's MR.Thermometers fault then you can't really help it. Also you didn't mention level's name in any part like usually, or am I missing something? If not then I just say it would fit into beginning 3d pyramid part. Even that it had many minor setbacks, it was still 5:star: and a <3 from me. | 2010-11-24 07:36:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
Hey Poms, Ok let me start by saying to me, this was a fantastic level. Although the boss was a little confusing at first I think I see how it's done now. Something to do with the sponges & if grabbed, it stops the arrows from shooting? At first I was too busy getting killed to notice this. lol. Anyway, I really enjoyed the croc part too, I thought it was very well done and it worked fantastic for me after I figured out thats its the tail you have to jump on. The fact that you put a mini game in the middle of the level, that actually made complete sense, was brilliant! And last but not least.... The way you created the mummies and how the come out and attack was genius! Nothing short of 5 star quality here dude. Oh and 1 thing, what is this Mm demo you speak of? You said you got alot of your inspiration from it and I'd love to know what you talking about. Thanks. L. | 2010-12-05 18:39:00 Author: LFiers Posts: 161 |
And, I'd like to say that I'D LOVE TO PLAY A NEW LEVEL BY JAKEPUTZ... Oh and I second this for sure! You heard the man, we're waiting JakePutz... P.S. Congrats on the spotlight Poms! | 2010-12-05 18:57:00 Author: LFiers Posts: 161 |
Thanks for your feedback LFiers. As you know, I've been updating this level during this last two weeks, and I think it's a lot better now. Thanks to all of you for your feedback, and some constructive criticism wich helped quite a bit, | 2010-12-14 08:01:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |
Why didn't I make a more elaborate review yet? I played this level four or five times already. Here are a few observations: - It is a very solid platformer, with some unique (from my PoV) mechanics. I also like how the mechanics of one obstacle are connected with the mechanics of another. - You managed to create a very egyptian atmosphere, in forms of color, decoration, lighting, music, obstacles and architecture. You clearly did your research to get an authentic feel and I admire authors who do that. - The survival mini-game is a very nice detail. Memorable additions like these are an inspiration to me, because it is a fresh deviation from the so common linear from-A-to-B obstacle course. It also adds endless value for people who enjoy highscore runs. - The crocodiles are a nice example of how an object that obviously belongs in the setting of a level acts as an obstacle, an aid or a puzzle. If you have seen my clock tower level then you know that I love that approach. - What I disliked in the level was that after dying on certain obstacles, I was spit out by a checkpoint past the obstacle. The obstacles are not too hard per se to have to do this. I really wanted to clear the obstacle and I kind of felt cheated out on it. - I think the boss fight could have been harder. Not with a different mechanic, because I loved that (how often do you see a boss fight in which you need to climb or hold onto the boss to defeat him?). More than just two plugs to pull, could have done it. Perhaps four plugs. What escaped me, though, is how the plugs related to the boss' defeat. I'd have something like: pulling a plug cuts a rope the boss is hanging from; all ropes cut, boss falls to his demise. Maybe there was a rationalization in there already, but I didn't notice it. And to clarify: it is not always needed, but logical conclusions from observation is what we all do every day when solving unfamiliar situations; you encounter a boss and you need to figure out how to defeat it. You can use details like these as hints. Lovely level and best egyptian-themed one I have seen so far. Was worried at first that it would be a rival to the one I am making, but that fear was unfounded: your style is unique. | 2010-12-14 12:51:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
P.D. One thing I've noticed is the level jumped just after publish to 1st page of cool levels, and stayed there? I promise I have no idea how the new system works.[/div] Probably cause you're Poms | 2010-12-14 14:52:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
- What I disliked in the level was that after dying on certain obstacles, I was spit out by a checkpoint past the obstacle. The obstacles are not too hard per se to have to do this. I really wanted to clear the obstacle and I kind of felt cheated out on it.Yeah, this is one of the updates I made. There are 3 early activated check points. The reason is because some platforms have double hazards, and if you past the first part and get into the second and die.. it's a bit too long way back. but adding a check point just when the second part starts would mean too many check points IMO. I kinda agree with you, but if you die in one of this 3 points, you only go forward one obstacle... and I thought it was better that getting "too much" backwards... - I think the boss fight could have been harder. Not with a different mechanic, because I loved that (how often do you see a boss fight in which you need to climb or hold onto the boss to defeat him?). You can use details like these as hints. Many good points here dude... ok, my 2 ideas here were: Not to make an endless (and sometimes boring) boss fight, and not to use the paint gun to make the typical boss fight: "Shoot-50-times-to-a-moving-weak-point". The 2 switches make a small roof crumble, that finally kills the boss, but yeah... if you know what to do it can be a bit short. Maybe I'll solve this in the next future, as I have some ideas to extend the fight. Was worried at first that it would be a rival to the one I am making, but that fear was unfounded: your style is unique.Oh... I thought your Clock tower level was an awesome idea for a level... do we swap copyrights?? (jk) Probably cause you're Poms Probably... but maybe because I'm poms the level lasted only 2 days there... when normally levels stay nearly a week! lol | 2010-12-14 22:47:00 Author: poms Posts: 383 |
