BioShock: DescensionMrTran
Introduction to my own spin off of the acclaimed BioShock series. Taking place in the original BioShock, you crawl out of a crack of land underwater, and discover the outskirts of Rapture. You are then "persuaded" to collect ADAM for a certain someone whom believes you have great potential to replace the Little Sisters. Scrounge the waters of Rapture and before long, you'll be diving down into mysterious Rapture herself.
This is an intro level for what's to come. This level focuses a lot on visuals. More puzzles and gameplay are on the way in the second level. Feel free to leave any constructive criticism. Thanks for looking.

Awesome level. Had a blast playing through this.

Incredible amount of detail. Fantastic lighting & atmosphere. Some great collectables. Amusing voice-over.

Great level. An excellent combination of lighting and materials to create an underwater cave atmosphere. I did get stuck a bit with the cog under water. I kept getting jammed and with no check points up to that point, I ended up right back at the start, so maybe add another check point or 2. Apart from that everything else was A1. Very well done. And as above, I look forward to part 2. 4 stars and a heart.

F4F: Please play and leave feedback for my level Time Bandits Of The Holy Land. Thanks.

pickled-punk - Thanks, pickled. Always a pleasure. Thanks for the heart & stars!

MicGorbachev - Thank you for addressing that issue. I could see how that could get really frustrating. Unfair deaths are never a good thing. I've added an infinite life checkpoint right in that area. Thanks for playing and thanks for the hearts & stars! I'm off to play your level now.

I thought this was a well designed level, however as beautiful as the lighting was it did become a bit difficult to see where to go and I found myself lost for a while in the caves at the beginning. Great level though, and loved the pirate guy McDonagh! Awesome intro to a hopefully awesome series!
My Rating : :star::star::star::star:

F4F
Can you please have a shot of my recently updated minigame and let me know what you think? I'm beginning work on it again from scratch to refine it and make it as slick as possible and would love any feedback you could give. Thank you.

metalhead_as - Thank you for playing my level. I'll be checking out more of your levels soon.

rossmurphy91 - Ah, yeah, I could see how players could get lost in the beginning. I tried to fix the camera to show players where they needed to go as best as I could while keeping the whole area visible. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm glad you like McDonagh, though . I'll give your food factory level a go right now.

Great job MrTran, very detailed level. I liked the atmosphere and the transition of entering into Rapture. The narrative was also very good an humorous. I typically could care less for any text in levels as most of the time its poorly done, but yours was fantastic. Some things I noticed:

3 LED's floated by treasure chest, not sure if intentional
Very difficult to navigate through the water and 'see', perhaps a few more lights for directional purposes
Wasn't sure where to go after treasure chest, perhaps use magic mouth/cut scene and show the door that you need to take
Thought the level dropped off abruptly but thermo issues im sure restricted you
I got squished when turning the wheel to open the door underwater, perhaps move it slightly more to the right so this doesnt happen (cheap death)
The water raising and lowering makes it difficult to jump back onto the layers, perhaps restrict this a little if you can to make it easier for the player to transition from layer to layer.
make Bioshock 2 so I can play it!!

I welcome any feedback on my level as well! Its in my signature. Thanks and great level!

John - Thank you for your detailed assessment. The LEDs are attached to the score bubbles (ADAM) to give them the glow they give off. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make them disappear without using up too much thermo space. As for the wheel squishing the players, yeah I'll fiddle around with it, as I hate cheap deaths too. I also may ease up on the darkness setting a little. As for the magic mouth at the safe, I'll definitely make a cutscene back to the door. The switching layers with the water, I'll look into this as well. Sorry about the length of the level, I wanted to pack more into it but unfortunately, my thermo is about to explode so a second level is in the works. Thanks again for playing. I'll F4F you soon

Assassinator - Great! I hope you get to play it soon!

booXely - I hope it's to your liking!

(Edit) Fixes:
- Moved the wheel so players won't get squished
- Made the wheel much harder to turn (lol)
- Toned down the darkness setting a bit
- Made a cutscene to the door
- Added some more barnacles!

I played your level, but I was not able to complete it. After you jump in the water and find the sea slugs, where are you supposed to go? From what I saw it looked fantastic, but I wasn't sure where to go...2010-11-20 01:46:00

Go to the east stairs and dive down from there if you've already done that then make sure you get all the ADAM in the safe.2010-11-20 02:01:00

Hey ther MrTran, i played your level the other night and WOW, your use of decorations was excellent, and that Rapture sign next to the safe, all amazing. The descent into Rapture was good and the room where the bathysphere docked was very Bioshock, well done. A few minor points, i think there was a little to much talking, especially when under the water ( I was reading it and ran out of air lol) and found myself a few times wondering where to go. Overall, i gave your level :star::star::star::star: and a <3, keep up the good work

booXely - Thanks, I appreciate it.

Blanchrocker - Haha, thanks for the compliments. I may need to have a cutscene to the east stairs. I don't think I'd remove any of the monologues though, as it sets you up for the next level. I'll try to simmer down on the text in the sequel. Just started making it today. unfortunately, the thermo is almost full. We'll see how it goes. If it fills up too fast, I might have to put it off until LittleBigPlanet 2. I'll do your F4F sometime tonight. Thanks for playing!

Edit: Fixed magic mouth cutscene angles. Shouldn't be hard to figure out where to go now.

I'm baaaaack!

It was a pretty fun level, with some very good visuals. I see what I did wrong, but the magic mouth telling me to go down the stairs didn't activate last time... My only other complaint would be the wheel, I got squished in it... Maybe move it a bit? Overall a very fun level, if a tad short. 4 stars and a <3

Would you mind playing the level in my sig for F4F?
