| This is it. The ultimatum of Forum RPGs returns. And you're invited. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=12700 Originally concieved (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=18485-The-Console-Wars&highlight=Console+Wars) by my good friend theswweet, The Console Wars is (or... was) a much-loved forum RPG, filled to the brim with several gaming references, a multitude of awesome characters, deep and complicated stories, and the never-ending feud between Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, as they constantly war over eachother to see who truelly IS the more superior console out there. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules/Faqs Since it's been awhile, let's explain some things first: - First-off, and most importantly, any off-topic commentary and/or outside commentary are to be posted in ((double brackets)). This helps the players to easily distinguish story parts from those intended for compliments/questions. - People are divided amongst 3 teams (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) to start off; afterwards, they are free to switch to other teams or form their own alliances/militias/movements throughout the story. - However you portray your character (or yourself) is entirely up to you; due note that, mind-control (godmodding), instant warping (automatically going from point A to point B in one pots) and smiting (instant-kill posts) powers are prohibited unless the posters involved agree to the action and PM me about it. - Do not try to drift from the main plot too much; this can lead to confusion amongst other posters and can possibly derail the thread altogether. - Be careful on how you post. Other players will be reading your posts, so please, post clean and clear enough for others to understand and respond. 1337-5933K and n00b-tawlk is not allowed (unless your character is saying it). - Don't make annoying posts (i.e. "The base was bombed, but the instant-rebuild-the-base terminal was still standing!"; "The soldiers come in closer, but then a random Pedobear kills them all!). We don't need THAT much randosity, thank you. - Be creative! Not only are you (the poster) playing out the story, but others might be reading as well. Remember, creativity and wit is the way to go, and (in this case) the pen is mightier than the sword. - You will get kicked for inactivity, annoying posting, or violating the rules. I will not let this thread turn into a "flame war". Serving valiantly for the Sony side of the war, his efforts to stop the Microsoft Empire ended in vain, as the whole of Earth was destroyed in it's wake. Noble, persistant, and resourcful, theswweet soldier will always be remebrered by both his brethren, and his people. Outlaw-Jack- Major contributer, former leader of the Microsoft team. With an iron grip and a fragile mind, Jack slowly but surely lost control over the world, sending his glorious empire and his sanity down the drain, resulting in the world to blow to bits by his own doing. Cunning, powerful, and cruel, Jack will forever haunt the minds of the TCW vets. KernelM- Major contributer, former teammate of the Microsoft team. Readily standing by his master's side, the deadly computer program created by Jack found his own demise through his clouded vision of love and loyalty, dying by his own master's hand. Versatile, adaptive, and seemingly God-like, Kernel will certainly be missed by those who loved him. Ragfell- Major contributer, former member of the Nintendo team. Although coming late into the game, this young and confident soldier never gave up, eventualy confronting the likes of thesweet and Jack. Young, confident, and a bit crazy, Ragfell has left behind a legacy of awesome posting and great contributions. Boomy- Major contributor, former member of the Sony team. Patrolling the skies in his floating trash can, the Helghast swine saw, fought, and conquered, immediately becoming the most wanted man for Microsoft. Tricky, skillful, and just plain weird, this vet's limited appearances certainly entriced those who read his postings. Ontom- Major contributer, former member of the Sony team. Perhaps TCW's newest vet, ontom strived for lasting posting, making his mark on this war-scavenged saga of epic proportions. A little misunderstood, yet still acknowledged and observed, his little appearance still has a ton of juice for the little texts he provided. Rseah- Major contributor, mercenary. Always between the lines and never on them, rseah, the "Cyber Ninja from Hell", cunningly fooled everyone and eventually parted ways. Adaptable, sneaky, and always running headlong, this veteran clearly defines the word of "mercenary" in every sense. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Roster If you wish to join, simply post below saying so; I'll add your name to the list. Once we get at least 5-6 people, I'll post a new thread saying "The Console Wars 3", thus beginning our epic journey... | Updated. @Silver: I refuse to drop this thread. And TCW has worked before, unlike "The Tournament" (and there's proof that it did; it was completed before it was locked). The rules are very descriptive, there has been a strong fanbase, and this is the only other forum RPG besides Grab The Gold! (which to me is more of a "claim game" than anything else). What most of those past forum RPGs lacked was dedication and support, which eventually lead them to their demise. I am fully confident that this time around, people will post, and the story will be completed. Remember, it takes more than one person to keep these things afloat! Besides, everytime you sign up you never post much, and then drop out after a day of inactivity or some other reason. (C'mon! | Updated. As I've expected, the majority is on the PS3 side (since this site is a PS3-dominate forum, anyways  ). It's about the same # of people for Microsoft. And poor Fastbro! Havin' to "Rambo" it out (don't worry, you can always switch later  )!I'll leave this open for a couple of more hours. I know we'll get more participants once this thing gets started. But I'll leave it open just a teeny-bit longer in-case there's any last-minute peeps. On a side note, it'd be good to establish who'll be leading each group, since there was at least 3 main individuals representing each company (i.e. thesweet for Sony, Outlaw-Jack for Microsoft, and Ragfell for Nintendo)). You don't necessarily need to do this, but it'd be a good idea once we start so y'all don't squabble over who's leading who (unless you're staging some coup d'etat or takeover, then that's fine with me). @SketchNZ: I think once this game gets started, you'll get a better idea on what it is.  @Fishrock123: Well, you can always form your own later. | I'm being a mercenary this time... I don't (evah) keep a definite side. But I will work for a limited time on any side, depending on how much they pay. Of course, I have loyal characters on my side from every company (one for each side) Both Xbox and PS3 have Black Ops, and Pokemon is giving a new release... To those who think it's overpowered, I'm an enemy to all when not hired, which means that alone, I'm an easy target since I don't have a huge empire to back me up. | ((Character bios looks like a nice idea! Here's mine: )) Name: gdn001 Backstory: gdn's story isn't one of the happiest. His mother died when he was born and his father died years after, so he was raised in an orphanage. He used to be constantly bullied for having no parents. Then one day he decided to do something, so him, alone, taught a lesson to all the bullies that were being troubling to him. He decided that he would fight for justice, so he joined the local army. He was sent to the first CW as a recruit, so little to none is known about him. After being sucessful in many operations, he ranked up and became a sargeant. Then, after a period of peace, he's sent to MS territory with Zim on an secret mission to find out about their plans. They discover the plans for a new attack, and before they can get back, the CW2 starts. Personality: Despite the fact that he fought in a war, gdn is usually in a good mood, and likes being with friends. On the battlefield, gdn changes to a protective mood. He believes that his main objective is to defend his friends in combat, and he would risk his life to do that. gdn is usually seen screaming at friends in danger, carrying wounded soldiers and applying first aid on those, not to mention fighting. And if one of his closest friends dies, gdn enters a rage attack and will not forgive any enemies. Skills: gdn's skills came basically from his war experiences. He can drive jeeps, tanks, boats and helicopters with skill, and had some plane piloting lessons. He can also shoot very well, and he can shoot almost any weapon: from pistols, to rifles, snipers, machine guns, laser guns, crossbows and etc. He also knows some survival and first-aid techniques, and he has an above average strenght and stamina. | JspOt- a powerful mercenary who will do anything as long as he gets his pay. However, it's hard for him to hide a soft side during certain occasions. His past is completely unknown. He'll strike you down if you mention his parents in any way, which may give hints to his past... A powerful hand-to-hand expert, he can take on armed soldiers with his fists alone. Though he does dodge gunfire, he is more vulnerable to explosives. JspOt is also known for his love of books, which is strange to go through in a world of gaming. He is generally happy yet immature when not fighting, and has an obsession with donuts. i want to be nintendo!  Name: flamingemu Backstory: After originally auditioning for a green yoshi in the infamous super mario series, he was rejected for being too mean. They chose his brother instead, and now he wishes to prove himself by venturing on secret missions that he was not invited to, and hopefully saving the day. Personality: flamingemu is usually very sulky, because he is fighting for the side that rejected him, and hates everyone. He may occasionally fight the nintendo characers out of rage, and is known to be high tempered. All the nintendo soldiers hate flamingemu. Skills: flamingemu can swallow anything that isn't bigger than him, and spit it out at alarming speeds. he can use this skill to swallow big tank shells and almost acts as living artillery. he also has a good aim from shooting pirahana plants every day. He runs quicker than most, however he can't always stop dead and sometimes falls over. | Kitkasumass grew up in a poor family. His mother raised the three children by herself. Life was hard and there was almost no time to have anything resembling a "happy childhood". It never seemed to bother him in his younger years, but as he got older it showed in his demeanor more and more everyday. Some days he would just walk around the PSN store and pretend he could actually buy the latest DLC. Life was pretty stagnant for this young man. Then one day he met the girl of his dreams. They fell in love and eventually they had a son. Kitkasumass had never been so happy when he saw this tiny boy come into the world. He knew Something had to change. This boy deserved something better than what his father could give him. But how could he be a father when nobody ever showed him what a father does? To the world he looked like a generally satisfied family man. But deep down inside his soul something horrible was brewing. "The Need". He began doing things he never thought he would do. He began doing jobs for anybody else who had a need and the money to back it up. It didn't matter what the task was. If it led to a better life for his baby boy, he would do anything. Stealing, blackmail, assault, even murder. Eventually, he was banned from the playstation network for his evil deeds. Now what would he do? He settled down and built a small hut in the deep forest. He wanted to stay out here, far away from the temptations of men. After all, he knew firsthand what it could do to a person. He hunted, had a small garden, and life was simple. Things continued on this way for many years. Then one evening, amidst a great rainstorm, there was a loud knock on the door of this small hut. It startled them but Kitkasumass eerily walked towards the entrance. Who could be visiting them now after all these years? He grabbed a hunting knife and opened the door. The man was indescribable. All he could focus on were his piercing eyes that seemed to glow with the same "Need" Kitkasumass had felt long ago. He introduced himself as Outlaw_Jack and said he could bring a better life to Kitkasumass' family. He told them of the revolution, of the console wars, and of his small, but infinitely capable gang of bandits that were starting the Microsoft regime. "TWO MEN!? What kind of revolution would that be!?" he shouted. He offered the outlaw to stay the night inside and went to bed. In the darkness of their bed, Nicole and Kitkasumass debated the subject. After all, they both wanted the same thing. A better life for J. He knew he would be leaving with the stranger in the morning. Nicole was more than capable of handling everything at home while he was gone. And there was something about this man. He couldn't put his finger on it but he knew they'd be fighting together for a long time. In the morning he said goodbye to his family and the two men walked out the door. In front of the garden stood 3 horses, one with another man atop. "Mercury77, this is our new recruit. He knows absolutely nothing about Microsoft, but I know He'll be a great partner." "How you know that!?" begged Mercury77. "I've been watchin him for a looong time." They rode off into the distance, ready to start a revolution against some of the biggest armies in the world. | Name: Real name is Stephen. His name now is BlueBulletBill, but everyone calls him B3 or Blue. Looks: B3's, in human form, is a fairly normal 16-year-old boy. He has dark brown hair that covers his face, hiding hazel eyes and a pair of blue glasses. He's fairly skinny, but not muscular. His outfit is simple: A navy blue tattered hoodie, which he always wears open, a black Fox shirt, blue jeans; fraying at the feet and with a hole below one knee, and a pair of Vans (allows him to run fast). The only thing conspicuous about his outfit is his weapon of choice: a long, sharp, blade strapped to his right arm, sort of like the Big Sister from Bioshock 2. Blue also wears large headphones when not on the battlefield, which blast screamo music. Backstory: While he tells no one the events that led to it, Blue's story begins when he ran away from home at the age of 14. Living off the streets, he started to take advantage of the electrical powers he was born with. Every few weeks, a store would find its security system had gone offline for an hour or more, the power seemingly drained from it. Outside of gaming equipment, he rarely stole more than he absolutely needed. B3 was much more likely to steal for others, especially the small children of any area he came through. During the Christmas of 2009, each and every child in one small town found a Wii at their Christmas tree. On February of this year, he broke into a Nintendo store, where he was found. Realizing that an attempt at capture would be hopeless, the Nintendo commander instead offered him a spot. The Nintendo scientists needed a test subject, Blue was told, for a project that would allow combatients to become Nintendo characters, to better fight with. Blue agreed, and after some very painful tests, he developed the ability to become a Bullet Bill. Since then, the Nintendo combat team has become his family, especially Fastbro, who is like a brother to him. Personality: B3 is, despite his dark past, is a very fun person to be around. He constantly makes jokes about all those around him, which has gotten him into some trouble. The only time Blue is in a bad mood is when someone makes the mistake of asking about his past - he goes silent and turns to his music. In battle, he's a silent warrior, motivated by need to protect his 'family'. He has a conscience, though, and will refuse to kill any helpless soldier. Skills: In his human form, Blue has two abilities: fast, quick, deadly strikes of the sword; and summoning bright blue electricity from his hands.
