Urgent Help!!! Creature Brain
Archive: 7 posts
So I am working on a very cool boss character for my level but I keep encountering a brain bug/glitch that works like this: My creature moves by wheels. I attach the brain to the object with the wheels and the creature moves. I try adding more parts to the creature and that completely freezes the movement. I try taking off the old brain and adding a new one but it does not work, the creature still does not move. I try adding more brains and the creature dissolves. What in the world is going on??? I had a similar problem in the beta that I had to rework in a completely different way but the option I took then will not work in this situation. Any help is really appreciated. My level is about 60% done after 15+ hours of work so the sooner I can finish the sooner I can share it with all of you Thanks in advance. | 2008-11-01 05:24:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
Try and use a lighter material for the boss? | 2008-11-01 14:25:00 Author: floor3013 Posts: 287 |
start creature again add brain last hope that helped also pause time to stop it moving | 2008-11-01 14:30:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
The creature freezing: Every time you select an object with the lasso (cursor) or add anything onto it (materials) the object freezes in place, even if it's unpaused. This is why objects can float in the air when you move them. Once you exit the Popit (press circle a few times) then physics apply and it should start moving. Not sure about the creature dissolving with more brains. Does it make a "crunch" noise when that happens? That happens when too much pressure is applied to an object. | 2008-11-01 15:27:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
The wheels might be too small because that happend to me and I was getting really frustrated | 2008-11-01 15:41:00 Author: Unknown User |
you can use different legs, i suggest using the piston like ones instead they work well and the can also jump cheers! | 2008-11-01 18:07:00 Author: RAINFIRE Posts: 1101 |
Thanks for all the tips. I was able to put an insane amount of detail on the boss and when I added the brain last it... worked! Unfortunately I am not done with it yet and when I went back to add the finishing touches today it started doing the same thing. I added some cardboard ears and the creature is no longer moving *sigh*. I will try to work around this so I can get all of my ideas in but even as is I feel the boss -along with the set piece you fight it in - is up there with anything MM has done (trust me, I know that is a very bold statement). Oh well, back to work. Keep your eyes on the level showcase page, I hope to be complete by next weekend and a couple of forum members have been generous enough to agree to playtest the lvl before I publish so I can be SURE I have created one of the best levels out there and it's not all just my ego talking lol. | 2008-11-02 01:52:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
