When Does Christmas Start To You?

Archive: 33 posts

Well, the Christmas adverts on TV have already started, some people are putting up Christmas decorations, I've even seen a Christmas advert up there ^ here on LBPC. (In fact, one year I remember seeing a Christmas tree up in October). Personally, I think it's way too early for Christmas, it's only November.

But I was wondering what you lot thought, when do you think of it as finally being Christmas?

I think of Christmas starting in December, as soon as at least December 1st comes, that's when I can call it Christmas.

What about you, do you think it's too early for Christmas? Or have you already got your deco's up?

Edit: Almost forgot, there's some people who live not too far away from me who keep their decorations up all year. Which is really silly if you ask me.

Usually when december starts I get the feeling that it's coming...
When I get that feeling I watch this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogetBqMgau0) and suddenly everything feels like christmas.

Christmas season doesn't officially start for me until after Thanksgiving.

I swear, they've been pushin' Christmas adverts closer and closer to Halloween for the past 3-4 years. It gets really annoying when you go to Walmart and see Christmas (or around here, "the Holidays"... -_-) decorations and stocks all over the store... and it's still 2 weeks until Thanksgiving. Only when my church says it's time do I get into the Christmas spirit. Which reminds me... I've never celebrated Christmas on LBPC ;_;.

And the Christmas season doesn't end until mid-January in my family.

I don't seem to get into the mood till maybe the week before. I agree that it is sad seeing decoration stuff for sale going up almost before Halloween arrives in some places. Although a US holiday, Thanksgiving sorta gets gypped in the process because of it all.2010-11-11 14:47:00

I never thought I'd say this but I can't stand Christmas. It's all the consumerism and puritanism that just makes me rage inside. Both make no sense to me anymore. :/

So Christmas in my head never starts (how sad does that sound!?!) but I guess all the decorations n' what not go up one or two weeks before the "big day".

BAH HUMBUG!

Personally, it seems to get later and later every year, but the decorations are about two weeks. My local shop sold advent calenders a wekk or two before Halloween.

I wouldn't say it's a scam, but the media have gripped it far too much, they need to let go a bit and not start until mid-November at least.

Also, I remember a while ago, in a newspaper, some woman bought all her Christmas presents in January (not for the previous year).

As the tradition goes, Christmas is on the 25th December. So therefore, Christmas starts at 0.00am on the 25th December.
This also means that Christmas ends at 11.59pm on 25th December.
