Inverts the signal

1/on becomes 0/off, 0/off becomes 1/on

in analog signal 0% becomes 100%, 25% becomes 75%, 75% becomes 25% and so on

As inverted it acts like a big-a** node, even icon becomes the same

Without any input plugged NOT becomes always on, 100% signal battery

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logic_gate

As i know they even tell that in tutorials level (at least digital signal part)

Example of use:

You got some sensor and you also want to place same sensor but inverted, instead of wasting space for 2nd sensor (that probably takes more thermo) you just plug sensor output to not gate input and you have same result

Lol, it doesn't require a genius to explain a not gate 2010-11-09 21:47:00

Apparently it takes a genius to read the question though

Explanation by example. Suppose you have a counter that counts up to 3 and for the sake of argument, it's counting up the number of laps around a top-down racer track.

If you want some event to occur once three laps are completed (i.e. fanfair to say you're done), you'd wire up the output to whatever it is.

If you wanted something to happen until three laps were completed (i.e. player controls enabled), then you'd invert the counter and wire that to the player controls.

If you wanted both, then you could either have two counters, one inverted and one not inverted. Or you could have one counter and a NOT gate.

Is that any clearer?

On behalf of all us non-logic savvy folk... thank you. I too had no idea how this could be used or why.

Nor does it require a useless response, if you catch my drift...

Oh and trust me, may seem simple, but if used well, it can accomplish some very complex things.
