I said yes, basically because I wanted to call you an idiot Anyhow, I guess it'd act the same as RL. All of the materials in LBP are (what's the word.. Not opaque?) IDK. But glass is the only transparent one, so I guess it'd go through glass. Idiot.. Kidding man, I luvs you | 2008-10-31 23:14:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
ok yes and no so i just picked "no". light can go through glass but only slightly but with everything else light just stops in its tracks Cheers! | 2008-10-31 23:16:00 Author: RAINFIRE Posts: 1101 |
Ok, that is very strange. I have a spotlight and the light goes straight through everything. And no, nothing is made out of glass. | 2008-10-31 23:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
What setting do you have the light on? (foggy, normal, shadow) do you have the light on the correct layer? I'll have to check this | 2008-10-31 23:31:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
The spotlight shines a white, bright, foggy style beam. And yes, I have tried all 3 layers. | 2008-10-31 23:33:00 Author: Unknown User |
Allright, I just went to a test level... no matter which light I use or anything the light seems to pass right through and illuminated whatever is underneath. Strange indeed, I hope they fix this as it would be great to be able to make cool environmental effects. | 2008-10-31 23:38:00 Author: Ozymandias Posts: 223 |
Yeah, my whole level has to do with avoiding lights. Another project I can't start yet. | 2008-10-31 23:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
yes light does travel through solid objects that it should not...MM should fix this but really you can just set it so that it does not travel that far...i forgot what setting does it though but you can change it to make it stop right before it shines through the other side. | 2008-11-01 01:07:00 Author: OverWork Posts: 873 |
hmmm really i thought it was just glass with the problem, i will check this out next time i have the chance because this is kinda interesting | 2008-11-01 01:14:00 Author: RAINFIRE Posts: 1101 |
My level is a spotlight which you are supposed to avoid by hiding in a barrel, it doesn't do much if the light goes right through it. | 2008-11-01 01:38:00 Author: Unknown User |
it dosen't and MM shouldn't fix it! | 2009-01-29 02:32:00 Author: Schwem00 Posts: 255 |
My level is a spotlight which you are supposed to avoid by hiding in a barrel, it doesn't do much if the light goes right through it. I assume you are using one of the spotlights from the MGS pack? Put a prox sensor (directional) on the barrel and set the radius so it only turns activates when the player is inside the barrel. Next take any AND switch and set it up so that the spotlight will only "see" a player if they are NOT inside a barrel AND inside the light beam. If you need more help let me know, I can make a simple tech demo/drawing Edit: never mind I just realized this thread was long dead, however the solution still works so I'll leave it here | 2009-01-29 02:49:00 Author: Trader Sam Posts: 92 |
