A question...

I read if you put in copyrighted material, you can be banned for uploading levels. So if I was to create a mario level, with pipes and goombas and turtles, would I get banned?2008-08-04 07:47:00

As long as you don't actually use the sprites from any copyrighted Mario material, you shouldn't have an issue. Avoid the same color scheme, and name it something else as well, and it should be alright. Only time will tell how strict they are.

Either that, or make it a private level and only share it with people who won't report you! That way you can do whatever you like.

They can't ban you for appropriating or parodying something. You have to change it just enough, like Cartman said.2008-08-04 09:25:00

A whole load of people are going to be doing this too.. they cant afford to ban everybody on they're first offense.. I think you'll be given a few warnings before you get a ban2008-08-04 09:29:00

You have to give it a generic or different name, and not make the level look the same such as colors or how the scenery looks.

But I dont plan on putting any of my mario levels online for the whole community. Just my original ideas.

So, I'm gonna use the original sprites and backgrounds

Call him something like Paolo, instead of Mario. I doubt they'll be overly strict.2008-08-04 18:23:00

Super Italiano Cousins?

I'm not planning on building any Mario or Mega Man levels simply because I know that there will be no shortage of them. I definitely can't wait to play them though.

Haha, it would be an obvious mario clone, but it would be safe to use! They can't copyright that.
