Leaving London

Archive: 23 posts

Don't mean to make you sad yet again.
But want to show you my beta level since I can't show you the game levels I've made since my "cameraman" still havent got the game.
About the level:
You have been on holiday in London and now it's time to go home.
Get to Heathrow airport using bus and the underground.
Here is a Video: JysCZBCMUV0
I know the underground ride is slow. Gonna make a new London level in the future with quicker trains.

Looks cool, but the train bit was slow and boring, maybe you could draw out some funny advert posters and stick them there with the PSeye, oh and maybe speed the train up too. :]2008-10-31 16:54:00

Yeah, but it's a beta level so I can't fix it. But I would make it a lot faster. Every time I play the video or the level, it feels like it is going slower

You should have a text bubble pop up that says "Mind the gap."2008-10-31 21:25:00

The train ride kinda killed it for me lol. Other than that, it looked pretty good. Would've been cool if you'd made a plane to fly in though 2008-10-31 21:36:00

Ah, this reminds me of a level i almost published in the beta called Taxiing. You had to find parking, go through check-in & security, and then get a ride on a rocket-plane. I'm thinking of re-doing it when I get the full game.2008-10-31 21:37:00

I actually playued this awhile back. It was pretty creative for a concept... a little rough around the edges and a little bland in some ways, but there was some very cool stuff in it, and it has a sophisticated feel to it. I almost felt like I was playing an interactive Beatles song.

I like the conveyor belt, and the guitar case section most... alot of stuff just needs a little polish, playtesting and fixes.

I thought that the start was the only realistic part, I liked how everything was exactly like real life. My main disappointment was the carboard phase. I have no idea why you used cardboard to do the building, and that kinda destroyed everything that'd happened before.

I also found that the Aeroplane ride was okay, although I'm not sure if there was anyway to go inside, I just jumped on the top. I also felt that this could've been improved by used a rocket which would have no use other than to make it seem a bit more realistic.

Also, other than the conveyor belt I felt it had no gameplay in it at all.

I'm gonna paint the airport when the saving problem is over. Allready painted one room. lol.
And I started on a 3 player challange in the aiport, but it wont happen until the saving problem again is over.

Good luck... and I've just noticed that I missed the Guitar Case part... I have no idea where that is.

You'l get respect from me if you manage it alone. I know people have done it, but I haven't done it alone yet. lol.2009-02-02 15:57:00

My son and I played this last night and I gotta say that getting across the conveyor belt nearly did us in. The ramp up to the belt area makes a long jump more difficult, I thought, because it tends to break up your forward momentum as the sackboy climbs the ramp. (Though this may be intentional)

It took a while to see that no pieces of luggage were coming in the middle layer and that jumping from that layer gave the most amount of success but it was still a pretty brutal section to get through.

I liked the level in general as something that I imagine mimics the real trip. You could put the names of the each station on the wall as you pass through while on the tube.

The airplane ride seemed like fun and worked well but some of the clouds got hung up on the wind of the plane though none of them got hung up long enough for something to snap/break.

I do see that a lot of stickering is left to go and I don't envy your job in that.

I liked the transition between the tube and bus ride and thought that the bus ride portion was the best part of the game in terms of architecture and pacing.

I actually did get one off. It wasn't easy though.

Did you pass the elevator? it's at the other end. Might be a bad place to have them.

Ah, no worries, I spotted them. It's a bad place to put them though, that area is kind of secret
