Magic Wand Upgrade?

Archive: 17 posts

A magic wand upgrade would be really cool for activating switches from just the wand. Press R1 and a switch activates that changes a little bit or the entire level; you could use it to change the gravity. Do you like this idea? What do you think it would look like? Is there already something like this?

EDIT: sort of like a switch you hold. you could set it on/off, direction, one shot, ect.

I love this idea, holding R1 and pointing it at a switch and it going off. Now how will it be made? 2010-11-05 03:25:00

You could achieve this by hooking the player up to a controllinator and a sackbot. The player would have all the normal controls as sackboy and you could add as many other R1 effects as you'd like.2010-11-05 03:55:00

A sackbot with 'laser' (a thin piece of holo) can do this. You can put a tag sensor on the laser with a line-of-site detector range. When the laser 'sees' tags, it'll activate.2010-11-05 04:13:00

You don't even have to use sackbots. You can use a "reciever" Controllinator.2010-11-05 04:33:00

Or you could use a holo with a follower following a player. Though, Sackbots with unique tags to follow are more multiplayer frendly

Here's how I would do it:
1. Insert tag to follow onto a Sackbot and make it controllable by the player.
2. Get a 2x3 (small grid, width*heigth) Hologram piece made invisible, attach a Microchip on the lower part of it, and put a Gyroscope and a Follower (following the tag in the sackbot) inside it.
3. Above the microchip, slap a Bolt on it.
4. Attach a laizor beam made out of Holo and connect it to the bolt. If your laizor beam is thick, glue it to a thin piece of holo which connects to the Bolt.
5. Slap a Microchip on the laizor beam made out of Holo.
6. Inside the microchip, slap a receiving Controlinator set to receive from the same Controlinator the sackbot receives.
7. Slap a Joystick Rotator on the microchip and connect it to the right analog stick.
8. Slap a tag, preferrably labeled, and connect it to R1.
9. And how to activate targets? Easy. Slap a microchip onto the target material. Then slap a Impact Switch to the microchip, tweak it to require the same tag as the laizor beam has. Include touching, to be sure.

...done! Aaaaand it only took... 15 mins! to read the wall of text above this

What do you mean ? A receiver somewhere in the level and a transmiter on a Sackbot's brain ? I've been messing around but nothing seems to work :/

He means a Controlinator set to Receive, from the nearest player. It does exactly as does the player nearest to it. And the player doesn't have to enter the seat at all.

Thanks, that's what I've done, but when I connect the Triangle button (for example) to a light, pressing the Triangle button doesn't work :/ I think I've missed something.

EDIT: Yeah, that works! Seems like I had forgotten something, thanks!

Yes, might... the Override Popit tweak might affect it in a way, but I'm not sure about it... is it only the Triangle button that seems reluctant or is it the whole Controlinator?

Actually, it seems I got wires tangled up and I all mixed because of all the switches I got

well, Happy End is Happy.

On-topic; it's a good idea, but very creatable even now.

...I seriously misunderstood the OP then ()...
if you mean the controller with the wand. Yeah, it's do-able. Controlinator receiving from nearest player.

Teh Betas and numerous other sources. You CAN set the controlinator to Receive, then set it to receive from the nearest player.2010-11-12 05:35:00
