I feel that there is a general confusion for downloading custom made maps for L4D2, so here is a hopefully easy walk-through. First, I am using a Acer computer which works. So any computers that are better then or a Acers should work. I am also using Windows 7 which you should be using. Step One: Download the free WinRAR program. This is only free for 40 days so use those days downloading maps. There may be other programs but i use this one. Step Two: Download the L4D2 or and L4D tool kits in steam. This will help with some maps. Step Three: Go to L4D maps and download a nice simple map to test with first. ex. Cursed Train. Download from the option beneath the payed option. If it doesn't say to wait 10 seconds and then it will start, something is wrong. Step Four: When the the bar comes up saying downloading map name here click it and it will say opining in ex 5 minutes. Step Five: When its done opening, a WinRAR page should come up with the map name in it. Right Click it and select the option Extract to Specified File. Then click okay without changing any options. Let it download. Step Six: When its done, go to the Windows circle in bottom left, select search for programs and files, and type in the map name that has appeared on WinRAR until you see the map name with the steam symbol next to it. Select it and allow the computer to make the changes. Wait a few seconds and it should say the map has been installed. Step Seven: If in WinRAR it says that you cant download it, delete that file and re download it from L4D maps. Step Eight: If this is a L4D map and you cant find it in in the programs and files serch, then it should automaticly be in L4D. Step Nine: When done, play the L4D that the map downloaded to and and go to extras and addons. You should find them listed there. To play them, select one of the play options and select the map and look for lobby's or games for them. CAUTION: Most of these maps are better played with Real People not AI. You cant download more then 3 maps at once. I hope this was a easy simple and helpful guide. Have fun with your new campaigns.
