LBP will get more developer levels

As noted in our review, despite the fantastic level design for the stages packaged with the game in LittleBigPlanet, there just wasn't enough of them. It looks like Media Molecule agrees -- speaking to GamePro, associate producer Eric Fong confirmed what many suspected: more levels are coming, straight from Media Molecule themselves.

Regrettably though, Fong hinted that in-game weapons and power-ups won't make any future appearances. "In our opinion, the spirit of LittleBigPlanet was to "figure ways around obstacles" and less about blowing stuff up."

Glad this is the case. I've been really impressed with what I've seen from MM so far. Sure these levels - along with user-created content - will raise the bar even higher.

Glad to hear! There are some themes that haven't been explored yet, and I imagine these new levels will try to explore new areas in creation that have been previously unexplored.2008-10-30 22:46:00

Not played the MM levels yet (well I did play the first 5 in the Beta) as I haven't got the game yet.
But from what i have seen and heard about they are very good
So I would welcome any more levels that come from MM, and i would pay extra for more levels from this great developer

Finished story mode yesterday and most of the levels are so outsdtanding that I was VERY disappointed there were not more lol (although Acing them and finding everything is keeping me busy). This is great news although I hope MM does not get greedy and make us pay for the levels as I have read that most costumes to be released in the future will have to be purchased (the ability to make costumes is something I guess they are saving for the sequel). 2008-10-31 00:20:00

This is great news, I'm only up to Boom Town as I'm doing 100% & trying to ace each level before I move on but so far they are just stunning and I'd love to see more levels from MM in the future.

I've had a play of a couple of the Savannah levels at the UK LBP store and the level design is just gorgeous. They're packed with incidental bits along the way and secrets abound. Anyone designing their own levels can learn from Mm's designs, and I think that was the point of having such a short story campaign - it leaves you keen to find more levels online to play, and eager to make some yourself! I'm glad to hear that Mm are going to make more though - I guess they're as addicted as anyone else!

And I'm glad that there won't be any weapons: it would be awful if some nasty person kept shooting you in online play instead of playing the level, and all you'd get would be deathmatch levels. There are plenty of other games out there for people to shoot at each other in.

i wouldn't mind if i had to pay 2 pounds, but if it like 5 pound for 1-2 levels then i wont get it, u have to pay cause that the only way they going to make money, IG said that when they release resistance map pack, this help cover the online payment,2008-10-31 12:04:00

I don't think we'll have to worry about these levels coming at a premium. Honestly, I've already been really impressed with what the community has produced so far. Eventually, the levels will reach the same quality as MM can offer.2008-10-31 14:38:00

I feel the same way. I've think I've waited long enough now, I think I'm ready to play now. >__<

Now on topic, I have a feeling that I'll be paying for the levels even if I think the price is outrageous.

hooray!! i've almost got a coworker convinced to get the game, he's looking for something for his kids that didn't have a lot of shooting and blowing things up... (didn't mind "some" but wanted it kept to a reasonable level.).

I heartily agree; this is most excellent.

Awhile before the game came out, I'd rather been expecting the "main" levels to not really be anything special..... just little things to show off some of what the game's impossible engine can do.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see just how GOOD all of the main levels were. That final fight against the Collector goes down as one of my favorite boss fights ever, I think.

I'll be looking forward to more, yes.

First though, I've still got some 50 zillion little unlockable gizmos that must be grabbed, that I missed the first time through, heh.

Maybe it's obvious to others, but I just realized that with new levels will most likely come new materials and other goodies. I know new stuff was discussed as possible DLC, but it would be great to get a whole new world at the same time, huh?2008-11-19 13:20:00

Glad to hear that some different DLC is coming to LittleBiGPlanet. After Media Molecule seeing the outstanding works of art that the LBP Community has conjoured up, I'm sure the team of brains come up with some mind-blowing levels!2008-12-05 22:40:00

Not gonna happen but periodic updates are, maybe bi-monthly at best?
Think RFOM sort of timescale (=

MM is taking to long. I my self am starting to lose interest. They keep making all these lavish promises like Co create, and patch work (lotsa bugs). Rather then talking I think it's time they took action.2008-12-07 04:59:00

If they do make new themes, it'd be nice to get some more backgrounds.
I really enjoyed the 1st level of the Savannah, if they made a level carrying on the "Treetops" theme, I'd really enjoy that.

I'm sure that it will set the bar higher, but I think they should have regular updates so that they don't get bored

Can't wait to see what they come up with.

Who knows, maybe they will kick off the new themes with a Water Kingdom.
Or a Space Station.
Or a Swamp.
The ideas will be hard to predict.
