Another beginner question: emitting emitters

Archive: 6 posts

Hi,

I have a basic(ish) question concerning emitters. Is it possible to have several emitters embedded.
For example can I have an emitted object that can then emit another object and so on. Rather like a russian doll?

Thanks

Yes you can.

Im not sure how thermo effective it is in large amounts, but it can be done.

You can make an object, capture it, put it in an emitter, capture that object with the emitter, and put it in onther emitter, and so on, repeating ti as many times necessary, tho it can't have an "infinite" way to keep this chain in LBP1, can only keep emitting as many objects you captures onto the "chain."
(For example, you capture an object and place it on and emmiter/ repeated it 3 times, then you can only emmit 4 abjects until the 'chain' stops.)

Hope that helps!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice, that is really helpful. An infinite chain of emitted objects would be a nightmare for the physics engine!
Although perhaps not the most thermo efficient I want objects to "appear" in a sequence.

Cheers

Then you shouldn't have a problem. MAke sure you set each to a limit of 1 or 2 depending on how you need them. 2010-11-02 23:06:00

Making objects appear in sequence is very easy, and 99% of the time you don't need an emitter on each emitted object. Using some emitters attached to a piston, and with the correct timings, you can emit objects in sequence without having to use an emitter on each object and setting up a chain.2010-11-03 20:47:00
