LBPC Spotlight in LBP

Archive: 26 posts

Hey, so I just had an idea and wanted to see what everyone else thought of this:

So I've heard some people comment that it would be nice if there was a section in LBP for our community spotlight like there is now for MM picks. It would make it much easier for us to find our spotlighted levels and play them.

I just had the thought that perhaps some one could make a "LBPC Spotlight" account, and all that account would do is heart every level that gets spotlighted.

Therefore, it would be the one spot stop for everyone to go to see all the spotlighted levels from LBPC.

Perhaps the spotlight crew could manage this account? Simply by adding the new levels to it biweekly when the Spotlights launch?

I'd be agreeable to starting the account if no-one else wanted to do it.

Anyway, its just an idea. Let me know if you think this would be helpful or not.

I've always liked this idea, and it's been mentioned before by some other users, but for some odd reason they never got around to actually doing it. I hope that it gets made this time though. 2010-10-31 19:17:00

It's possible for storing a huge list though. The hearted list starts unhearting levels once you get to the 20 pages mark, or so I've heard. I don't know about in LBP2.

I wonder if someone could create level links of spotlighted levels in LBP2? I think that feature may be reserved for a creator's own levels, not the levels of others, but I'm not sure.

Haha, ok, well nevermind then. I should have realized there'd be a problem such as that. Idea fail...

Thanks!

Yes, there is a limit to the number of hearted levels an account can store, which means that after a while some levels would start dropping off the bottom, which some may find unfair. Also, level links in LBP2 can only be placed by the level's creator, so we'd have to contact all the spotlightees each week and get them to come place a level link in our showcase level - which would take way too much organisation and it would be more than likely someone couldn't stop by each week, meaning we'd be short on level links.

Soon though, we will hopefully be stepping up the spotlight with a whole host of new features to do with LBP2, with LBP.me links included. After this happens, finding spotlighted levels in game should no longer be an issue.

When LBP2's out you can just put links to all the spotlighted levels in one level so you can access any of them instantly.2010-10-31 20:23:00

Unfortunately, it would be a logistical nightmare. LBP.me links in the spotlight post should be sufficient, though, as you can then add levels to your queue.

Please ignore this.

Pretty certain you can put in level links for any level, by anyone.
Just checked in the beta, and yeah, you can.

Not true, anyone can place level links to any levels they want as long as it's not a sub level created by someone other than you.

Although to be honest, with LBP.me this probably wouldn't be needed because you can simply queue each level in the spotlight.

I gone gotted sniped.

This is a pretty good idea!
However, as others have said, it wouldn't really work properly.
A good alternative is to just look at the hearted list of some of the spotlighters, almost all the levels chosen are on there.

Although just adding levels to your queue through LBP.me in LBP2 will be a much easier way of doing this.

Ah, awesome! I'm a bit of a plonker then.

The Americans are now scratching their heads at that phrase

But not a bad idea! I can imagine a big library level in LBP2 !! With a directory, elevators and that sort!

We could even have a cool signature librarian!

I have started working on some prototypes. At the moment I'm thinking one episode per floor, and we put as many episodes in one level as the thermo will allow, and update that level every two weeks. Bear in mind though, we may still decide to just include LBP.me links in the spotlight post - it would save us a lot of work. 2010-10-31 21:27:00

How do the level links work in terms of placing level links not created by you in them? I tried the other day, and it didn't really work very well. Help me out?

Ignore this! I tried with Sub-levels - so it works if it's not a sub level?

I'd had this same idea a few weeks ago, and already made the PSN account LBPC_Spotlight. I did not include "level" or "community" in the name because I was thinking we could do the Creator Spotlights too? They wouldn't be too much work. If anyone needs it I can give them the email and password for the account.2010-10-31 21:49:00

I'll make you a Library template in the full game of LBP2, see if you like it!

We'll probably be adding links as well In fact, adding the QR code at the end of a video could be a good idea...

We can always make a level and add links.

For now though, as Splasma said, I heart all of the spotlighted levels (since I have been on the crew).
You can use that for now, in LBP1 if you want quicker access.

I had an idea, that may/may not be possible. What if we had a service, implemented in the game supported by Mm where people can subscribe on LBP.me to a LBPC spotlight "feed." Every fortnight when the spotlight gets released, it would add all of the levels to the subscribers queues. Sounds possible, using the same technology as Mm Picks but only for people who subscribe.

My two cents.

I'd delete the LBPC_Spotlight PSN account, or give us the details, because there's going to be some real confusion if people start thinking that the LBPC_Spotlight account is official, and technically it's not.2010-10-31 22:41:00

Hmm, it seems like a good idea but at the end of the day it wouldn't save any time.

Basically the time spent adding the levels to your queue from the spotlight would be basically the same as loading up the spotlight level each time and then running to the next level on the list.

I don't see it as priority and if it does get done it'll probably be managed by a spotlight member anyways, so you don't have to feel obliged to create one for us

In LBP2, lbp.me links will be the fastest, easiest way to access the levels.
Until then, I can persevere with typing in stuff.

Ok, my turn

Had many ideas. This was one, like GameoftheYear user, you just heart 'em so people can use it as reference

I also had a level idea for it.... But it's a post LBPC Roast project and I need proper help, it's a biggy! Myself and OriginalCreator started it... It'll be an incredible project to be part of but I'd rather have a few higher-quality hellers to help us construct it before LBP2...

I have a thread, but sadly can't create a link... Sorry

Hearting the levels wouldn't be the best method in the world, because there's no method for sorting them ingame and once the hearted list fills up old levels start falling off the bottom, which wouldn't be fair on those creators.2010-11-29 13:38:00
