Question about sharing microchips

Archive: 4 posts

A few questions about what happens when microchips are shared:

If you capture a microchip (just the chip, not what it's stuck to) and put it in a prize bubble, can the person that gets it view inside it with R1 or is it essentially a "black box"?

Can they change it's options such as "visible in play mode" and "hide outgoing wires when closed"?

How about if the microchip is on an object that is captured and shared?

Yes microchip is still editable, visibility options as everything on tweak is copy over. Also stuff you may not notice:

-You can name inputs and outputs by tweaking them
-You can change image on microchip by using sticker editing tool, remove existing one and palace your own sticker on it

Those 2 things above should make your microchip easier to use for people

Oh! That's why it zoomed in on the chip while I was trying to place stickers around it, heh.
Shame you can't take off the images from the other switches and stuff though.

Another little thing, captured object's thumbnail/preview will show as if the object is in play mode.
For example an invisible controllinator on some invisible hologram will appear as a blank object in your poppit. Anyone know a way to turn that off btw?

I'm pretty sure that's just the way it works. It's easy to work around (set to visible before capturing, set to not visible after pasting it if you want).

I did know about the stickers and naming the input/output pins (found out the second by accident actually).

One other thing I learned about the stickers is they stretch in a kinda odd way if more inputs/outputs are added that expand the chip, so you want to make sure you've made all the pins and it's expanded before stickering it...

In any case, I'll try to put together a few useful chips as well as the logic probe (shows analog and digital value of input wire) and poke (makes an output wire with any combination of digital and analog values) tools I made once I clean them up a bit, probably in the next few days, and put them as prizes in a level so other people can use them easily.
