LBP PSP Timeline!

Archive: 31 posts

As you may already know, the 1 year anniversary for LBP for PSP is arriving soon. And it got me thinking we need to do something for it... I think the best thing to do would be timeline featuring major events in the game and the community including members and such. Basically anyone and anything that has contributed to this awesome community! I really want it to be colossal! So if you want to help or contribute to this fantabulous project swing a PM by me. (I'll start up a private group soon...) I want as much help as possible!

Ooh, this sounds like its going to be good. Shame I am so overloaded with work lately to be able to contribute properly. Can't wait to see what this turns out like anyway. 2010-10-30 20:22:00

sounds a good idea, i may be possible to contribute (depending on exams etc. and activities.)

you could do it as a kind of museum level.

I'd love to help, I've been with LBP since last December and I've had a lot of free time, lately.

That's pretty much it.

You should put all of the rare sticker competitions, the two major updates, the turbo pack, when all the good glitches were found, and when the really awesome levels were published. 2010-10-30 21:14:00

I started playing in February, but I only became a decent creator near the end of March.

This is a great idea, but I may not be able to contribute much.

I have like 2 levels. One is H4H and one is ramp.

But I think the only people who've been playing LBP PSP longer than me are Jack & Gevurah, so...

Hey Fastbro,

What a great idea! Geeze. I am ancient. Hehe. I was here way before LBP PSP even came out, and I remember playing the demo a bazillion times, blissfully amazed at the quality of the graphics each time I played it. I recall feeling defeated each time the game got postponed from being released in the NA region. I constantly watched all the youtube videos of the game to build the hype, so when it finally came out, I almost pulled off an all-nighter just to finish the story mode levels.

I refused to play community levels until I finished the story-mode, and when I finally did, Super Sackball by AceCreator and Happy Holloween! by QueenCreator became my favorite levels/creators. To my surprise, they weren't community-based levels at all! Hehe. I played several more...um...lackluster levels, and then it sunk in, will the PSP ever be as good as the PS3 version?

I was feeling really low until some great PS3 creators started making levels like Jaeyden, ryryryan, gilgamesh, jackofcourse, FULLGORR, and jump_button. They were great and really boosted my morale, but then came those creators who really pushed the PSP to its boundaries like Lleonard with The Frozen Kingdom of Skadi, Taffey with The Right Stuffing, and amazingflyingpoo with Now and Then. Ooh...and I remember Now and Then being banned like a dozen times. Hehe. Oh, and then came Arrestor with his awesome volcano that everyone started to copy.

At this point we were still recommending levels to play, and Spark's Metroid levels were up there. To be honest though, I never played much outside of LBPCentral, so I didn't know the level of Spark's awesomeness until he finally joined us.

And then there was Velcro. Oh, the lost soul. When I was marketing ZEN throughout the Interwebs, I saw VJ everywhere--LittleBigNetwork, LittleBigWorkshop, gamespot forums, you name it--but not LBPCentral. I was like, what the ??, so I shot him a PM at LittleBigNetwork, and we all know what happens after that!

Oh, goodness, I can go on and on. I can't remember specific dates, but I think this is in correct chronological order. I would also throw in the first contest held by CS, the first time we had a PSP Spotlight, the first time the [PSP]Community Contests forum opened, the time I bugged CC to give us the F4F system...

I hope this helps Fastbro. I think we could make an awesome timeline if we all just write about our memories.

Lost in memories,

Yeah the levels came really slow at the beggining. I remember play a lot of taffey, Joc, Fullgor, and all those peeps.
My favorite levels were 13.5, NaT, Euphoric, and Super Sackball back during LBP earlier days...

(Thinking, thinking...)

Hey! I know how about we have like an adventure through time like in the earlier days you have like a caveman theme while mentioning earlier levels and creators while progressing to eventually get to like today or futuristic age while mentioning the newer creators, levels, Kindled, etc. While you go through the different "periods" you mention new creators who came up during that time, levels, importent dlc, and other stuff. So how bout it?

This is a great Idea fastbro! I've only been with LBP since Febraury, so I don't know all the ancient stuff like Taffey does. So I'm going to pass on this project. Can't wait to see it pan out!

you could do it as a kind of museum level.

I think this is a great Idea too. Have a room for each month reflecting what happened in that time period.

i remember what i call the dark age...
it was a time when none of the well knon creators published...
and when spam and free gifts were all over the place.
then i belive it was spark with rip sack, vj with fort sugar 3, alis sackular and some other levels...
the came out at a similar time and then loads of others began being creative and we eventually got star bores and oh...
my i have been around for ages...

Now and Then got banned? I've been with LBP since December 28 and I played all the great PS3er levels, then I tried creating and I sucked, so I let the game dust up in my drawer while I obsessed over Patapon 2. Then, in May, I put LBP in my PSP to finish up Story Mode. Sometime in June, I was looking up my various PSP games on Google. Then I found LBP.com, I found a link to LBPC and I've been LBP'ing ever since.2010-10-31 15:11:00

I'm glad you guys are so supportive of the project! I myself, have been playing LBP since DEC 09 and joined LBPC in JAN 10. So I have quite a good history database but still have blank spots that need filling in. I want each event to be accompanied by quotes from the community too, on what they remember from it! If you want to become a core contributers please PM me so I can let you into the group!2010-10-31 21:41:00

2 things!

1. Poll added asking how you'd like to see this presented.

2. I need to know which dates/events do you remember in the game's history. It'll be a BIG help!

Hmm, well, we must have the release dates at the start of course. Maybe we should put in dates of when awesome creators published their first/favourite levels, and perhaps releases of major DLC?

Here are some dates I found scavenging around the interwebz:

Announced: February 2009 press release, first shown publicly at E3 2009

Release Dates: 17th November US, 5th November UK, 20th November 2009 in PAL regions

Turbo! Premium Level Pack (containing 6 Levels, 121 Collected Objects, 28 Materials, 112 Stickers, 20 Sounds, 6 Music files, and 1 Background) released: 18/5/10
More DLC release dates (feed://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/feeds/littlebigplanet-psp-add-ons.rss)

Game Updates: 2.03 (Strawberry Cheesecake) released 9/2/10, 2.05 (Cherry Pie) released 26/4/10 -More Updates (feed://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/feeds/littlebigplanet-psp-game-updates.rss)

Maybe some recent LBPC editions might be useful, e.g: Kindred, first Creator Spotlight etc... Hehe, I am quite new, so thats as far back as I remember!
