Centred Motors

Archive: 14 posts

I have watched loads of vids and when people put a motor on to something (as in to make a wheel on a car or something) you should have a "add centre cog" for all your standard shapes at least. Or maybe even just a dot in the middle that comes up when when trying to place a hinge or motor.

This would allow for a more precise placement of motors so that they are dead centre of a circle or any of the standard shapes allowing your machines to run smoother

Ah, you just reminded me! While playing at Comic-Con, I noticed items(cogs, motors, wheels, ect) would snap to the center of a circular object to allow for cleaner placement. Basically, when you brought the motor close to the center of a wheel, it would 'lock' to the center of it.2008-08-03 20:49:00

You ease my worries yet again with your Comic-Con experience. Were lucky to havr you here
I wonder if you noticed if it happened to all the other standard shapes

I didn't notice that, no. I do know there is a "grid" feature that allows you to place objects according to a grid. That may help with more accurate placement.

And if you think the comic-con event was cool, just wait. I've got more content lined up for the site in the future(yes, other than the interview). I can't say much more about it at the moment, but I will let everyone know when the time comes.

Everybody loves a pinata! But unfortunatly, I respect Cartman too much to help you crack open his head. I will however, help you pick up the secrets

(I wish I could pretend I knew this secret)...

Has anyone played the physics sandbox game called 'Phun'? I remember it having a 'add motor at centre' option on the menu. But having it auto-snap to the centre when placed around that area is muc hsimpler.2008-08-05 01:50:00

You know, I could never get into that game, or any physics simulation game for that matter. I think LittleBigPlanet is the first physics-based game that I will really enjoy.

Didn't work so well on my crappy computer, and I found there wasn't much point to it, but I made an engine in it which was interesting.. A lot of the concepts are similar to what's in LittleBigPlanet, but much less fun. And it had water

It's because of playing with phun for ages that i asked the question in the first place. I think the game is the nuts and i'm hoping to use a lot of the moves i learnt in it in my lbp levels. I'm wondering how fast you can tweak the motors up to so i can make some sort of gun for my sackboy. But i reckon you could just use some of those rocket power things we saw in E3 on a smaller scale
