Basic question: New Spawn after death

I've searched the internet to no avail, I want to make a forced death scenario and do not wish people to respawn from their spawn-point, but rather a new spawn point elsewhere on the map. Much like what is done in the mini games in the story mode, only I kind of want to have more than one death+respawn per level. Is there a way to do this?2010-10-30 05:09:00

One simple way is to have the player drop down from the first checkpoint, then add a "sensor" switch below, and connect that to the next/final checkpoint.2010-10-30 07:07:00

Ah yes, I figured that out. However there's now another problem I have to overcome. My level will start out in cramped quarters with the entrance. The death takes place there. However if you're by the entry spawn even after you have died you will respawn there until the spawn itself is dead. Is there anyway to destroy the entrance after you spawn so that does not happen?2010-10-30 07:10:00

Yeah, you can crush a checkpoint with a (large?) piece of rock/metal (on a piston or something).
Another alternative is to move the checkpoint to the end with a piston.

if you want more than one respawn then place the checkpoint somewhere where the player can only reach by respawning and make a sensor switch link to a counter. set the counter to the amount of respawns you want and then once all have been used make the checkpoint switch to the other2010-10-30 14:58:00

To create a forced death scenario with re-spawn at a new checkpoint:-

Use a proximity switch (set to 1 shot) covering the death zone. Connect the proximity switch to the new checkpoint and an emitter. Set the emitter to emit a cloud of deadly gas covering the death zone with the lifetime set to 0.1 seconds. When the player enters the death zone they will trigger the proximity sensor which will activate the new checkpoint and kill the player with the deadly gas. The player will re-spawn at the new checkpoint.

Ensure that the deadly gas is high enough to prevent a player jumping into the death zone and avoiding the gas. You may also need to tweak some other parameters to get it to work for all circumstances, e.g. for multiple players - block off the exit of the death zone and set the proximity sensor to "require all".

You can use this solution as many times as you require in your level.
