Surprising many, this new game from Harmonix will not be an extension of their popular Rock Band series. "This game is not just a Rock Band song expansion pack. It's much much more than that." "This will not be a Rock Band game," a Harmonix rep clarified. Players will be able to see new kinds of gameplay unseen from Harmonix in this new game. There's no announcements on what kind of peripheral support the upcoming game will feature. There will be a strong focus on visual imagery -- we're expecting a "Yellow Submarine" type experience. It's planned for a holiday release ... next year. "By presenting their music and artistry through the creative filter of a groundbreaking video game, we are giving legions of fans and music lovers all over the world a profound, new way to experience The Beatles," said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and Co-Founder, Harmonix. "This game will be a celebration of the Beatles undeniable legacy." Personally, I'm extremely excited about this. Zeppelin might fit the rhythm style better, but The Beatles are... The Beatles.

Considering I play Beatles anyway, and don't play this new wave of rhythm games, but it's good to hear for the rest of everyone. Also good to see them really expanding the bubble for what they're doing with it. (Wait for harmonica and sitar instruments in the game.) Plus, now the people playing bass will actually get viable stuff to play.

But it's just one band.. I say it'll be a waste of money compared to Guitar Hero: World Tour.. This won't exactly be equivalent to Guitar Hero: Aerosmith though, will it. Regardless of your personal taste, there's no doubt that The Beatles put out some of the best music we'll ever know. Not to be harsh, but I would have to guess that you might be in the minority on this one. And I'll pick up GH:WT the same day they announce and start producing weekly DLC.

But it's a band so prolific, that with only a couple exceptions in the beginning, every single they ever released hit #1. (And at one point, they had the top five positions on the singles chart simultaneously, and then a few more in the top ten.) Every album they made hit #1 and stayed there. (In the case of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...that remained on the charts for almost two years. Abbey Road was one of the fastest-selling albums of the '60s. ...And it was in the sixties for three months. Help! was the first album to open the first week at #1, and the rest of their albums followed suit.) And they have record after unbeaten record that nobody today has even matched. They have the most #1 singles, ever. And Mariah Carey, who comes in second, has been at it for years and years, while the Beatles did it all in eight. Plus, this is a band that was so advanced for the time, they pushed rock forward in massive ways. And it may be one band, but they've got a lot of great songs, in a lot of different styles. It's not same-old all the time. Which is more than many bands can claim. So yeah, it's one band. But it's the epitome of "classic".

However it is still just one band, and nomatter how good one band is, without the variation of other bands it could still become dull. To a massive fan it would be a dream game, but to the majority of todays younger population this wont spark as much interest - in my opinion. It doesn't for me, or anyone i know (except my gf maybe ). A radiohead game would be my dream... but we know that's never going to happen

A radiohead game would be my dream... but we know that's never going to happen The truth is that I don't know that the younger generation is really the target of audience here. There are plenty of people with consoles that are chomping at the bit to pick up this game and they'll be able to afford to do so.

I think this game will be some party-game for 4-players (splitscreen lolz) where you can go racing and shooting, jumping and stuff with John Lennon and his cool buddys. Nothing with singing.
