Leipzig & Tokyo Games

Archive: 14 posts

Leipzig Games Convention is just 17 days away. Aug. 20-24 2008. Hopefully will get another trailer, more info from the show, and some more hands on reports.

The Tokyo game Show is Oct. 9-12 2008. I was hoping the game would be out before this date. But with the US date being pushed back to 10/21 and the Japan date saying 10/30. I guess this will be the last big blast of media about the game that we will get before its release.

Hopefully we will get some info in between for Sept. from game sites to cover the dry spell.

Added Penny Arcade Expo 2008 Aug 29-31 That will help fill in the gap thanks Alaska Gamer for the info.

Dont forget PAX. That's another good convention.

But yeah, I'm gonna check for any more LBP updates at the shows.

Yeah, im on holiday during the German one. I'm not on holiday in germany though :/

Anyhow, as for september, at least ONE of use is bound to get onto the open beta... I'm sure they will keep us informed. I will if I do.

Did pax show anything for ps3 last year at all? I really don't think since their x360 fangirls so don't expect anything this year.2008-08-04 01:50:00

Well, you never know. I just check online for whatever game, regardless of console, is shown. But hopefully LittleBigPlanet may have a go at PAX.2008-08-04 01:59:00

Hopefully at the next event they talk about the beta. How will they do the beta though? Wouldn't it be sorta like the full game? Maybe they will only have 25% of the objects, and 5 levels, and 1 background?2008-08-04 14:40:00

A beta is an unfinished version of the full game. A demo is cut from the full game. They'd probably only include online in the beta though... thats what usualy happens.

- The beta will also be capped (user-wise) and once its over, made redundant..

Yeah, which sometimes gets annoying. I don't think I'll care much about the redundancy here, though.2008-08-04 18:33:00

Actually, the open beta will pretty definitely be a stress test, so the user limit is going to be really high if any. If someone doesn't know, a stress test means that they want to find out if everything works ok when huge amounts of people use their services at the same time. That's most often the purpose of an open beta.

That's also why open betas can be held really close to release, as they mostly test out the server functionality, not the gameplay itself.

The closed beta servers will be small and weak
The open beta servers will hopefully be huge and strong ready for all off us
