A tool to enable to rotate on all axis
Archive: 11 posts
I think it would be pretty cool, if in the full game there was a tool to allow us to rotate on all axis instead of just one. Just image with the circle, we could actually give wheels to top down cars. Do you think this will happen? | 2010-10-28 09:38:00 Author: smerf1 Posts: 108 |
This means real 3D. It's like making a slope with a top-down view. Probably not in LBP2! | 2010-10-28 09:47:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
No the physics engine is 2D. 3D physics engines are a LOT more complicated. Especially rotations - you go from having 1 number to represent orientation and inertia, to having a 3x3 matrix in each case. Collisions become very complex too. Now it could happen if it is purely a visual thing (like the incredibles drill) but it would not work with arbitrary objects. I think what would be best would be to have a small rotating plate (rather than the whole drill) that we can place decorations on and they will rotate. The incredibles drill is the wrong shape for many applications. Maybe this decoration can even have its speed adjusted. But I don't want a new type of rotator because it wouldn't work properly. | 2010-10-28 09:47:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |
Yeah that is what I meant, just visual. meaning if I rotated on the Z axis, it would be locked to the Z axis (Unless I rotated again of course) And if dropped from a high fall onto some rubble or something, the physics would only apply to the Z axis. | 2010-10-28 09:54:00 Author: smerf1 Posts: 108 |
I dunno... I mean, we've got in/out movers now... so this doesn't "seem" like a huge jump to me. Those movers are a step in the right direction. This is something I never understood why it wasn't in our create tools from day one, and there's plenty of times I've wanted this. I always thought we needed rotator bolts that work on this axis. The decorations work on this plane but there's no way to rotate them. These combined with the ability to create and cut out shapes on this axis would be mint... even if they were just basic shapes like circles and triangles. It would be nice to see this happen... maybe if/when LBP3 hits somewhere down the road. | 2010-10-28 10:57:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
I say we should be happy with what we have and if/when LBP3 comes out we can have something liek that. | 2010-10-28 11:01:00 Author: TheAffected Posts: 626 |
LBP3D can has obvious. Especially as I've noted some speculation of teh next black box in the coming years... *cough* | 2010-10-28 11:04:00 Author: Unknown User |

Hm... what's it taste liek? Can it be rotated in the z-axis? ...Maybe Mm could give us wheel objects for such uses as said in the OP | 2010-10-28 11:19:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hm... what's it taste liek? Can it be rotated in the z-axis? It exists in all 4 dimensions, and tastes of elderberry. Still want it? | 2010-10-28 11:21:00 Author: TheAffected Posts: 626 |
It exists in all 4 dimensions, and tastes of elderberry. Still want it? Excellent. *eats* *returns back on topic, cough * | 2010-10-28 11:58:00 Author: Unknown User |
