Sackboy floating before hitting the ground?

Archive: 10 posts

Is it just me this happens to? Whenever Sackboy jumps from a certain distance he doesn't hit the ground right, instead he just stops a few feet from the ground then floats the rest??? And it doesn't just effect Sackboy it effects other stuff, in one of my levels I have a piston moving as fast as possible, yet it slows that down too. Sometimes it goes away for a few minutes and both Sackboy and the piston work as they should.

I'm pretty sure this didn't happen before the last update...well the last update I did anyway, there were a few at once.

Not sure what you mean, but could it be caused by lag in online create? I know sometimes when I'm online sackboy sort of phases through objects due to the lag.2010-10-27 20:15:00

That's what I thought so I disabled the internet...still does it. It happens in every mode, I even tried it in the story levels, still does it. The only time it stops seems to be when I pause the game and change any random setting or change something in the popit (And even that doesn't work all the time. I thought it might be some sort of global setting messing with the game.

Basically, jump from any decent height and Sackboy will stop just before the ground and float the rest of the way. It would be cool if you could control it It seems like something is interfering with the physics, so it slows down Sackboy and moving objects. He can run fine and jump fine, but the landing slows down. And pistons work fine backwards, but forwards they slow down at the end, just like Sackboy. That's the bit that bothers me because you can't properly test something.

Let's say around 5 Sackboys high, maybe a bit more, but anything higher than that.

I'm starting to think it might be something to do with the display settings of the actual PS3, although I don't know why, but it's the only thing that I can think of that's changed. That and some sort of corrupt data in a profile or something.

Hmmm its always happened to me but only from really high heights.

How much detail is in the surrounding area? Maybe it is a detail/moving object problem.

No, that doesn't do it, I've even gone into a blank level it still does it

I'll be alright unless it carries through to LBP2 As long as it's not a widespread thing, that ruins my levels when others play them...mind you I have to actually make and publish them first

Simple problem with a simple solution. I found it's the tv that causes it. Cus I used to play it on a tiny really old sdtv then I got a 27 inch 1080p one and the soft landings thing never occured again. I have reason to belive it is that if you had a good hdmi cable yto a good HDTV it makes the signal transfer quicker and you get less lag2010-10-30 13:06:00

Change of this being the TV connections is that same as you finding a real living dinosaure. Don't worry it's not that. Being in SD and with old analog cables doesn't give you more lag.2010-10-30 15:56:00

Yeah, it can't be the actual connections, but it could be the settings between the two. Because I think this has only happened while I've been using a SDTV, so I'll check 2010-10-30 16:46:00
